A Toyol is a traditional demon from the Malay culture. The Toyol is believed to be a dead baby that has been revived through some demonic ritual. This small creature, which serves the person who has revived it, is said to be green in colour with red eyes and feeds on small amounts of blood. The Toyol is also believed to be somewhat mischievous and will suck on the big toes of a sleeping person. If commanded to steal, it will only take half of the victim’s treasure.
I saw one the other day... stealing from my cash box. I wasn't able to do anything, but a spirit, one who has always been around, was able to scare it away... anyone know anything about this ugly green freak of a demon? :cofpap:

This might sound asinine, but bear with me here: have you tried asking for it back?
Also, in many folk tales and fairy tales such spirits are appeased by leaving them a gift - remember the elves and the shoemaker? It might sound like a shaky theory but I'm racking my brains here and there must be a reason why this pops up in so many tales.

Toyols are actually revived foetuses from an abortion by a bombah. The bombah is served by the toyol(s) until he wishes to sell it/them. Bombahs often charge large sums of money to the buyer. To get them to steal what their master wants, their master gives the toyol an empty tin and tells the toyol there is a certain amount of money in it. When the toyol opens the tin and finds it is empty, it steals the amount of money it was told was in the tin and puts it in the tin. When it's master asks for the tin back, he/she gets the money. another tin a toyol can do is bewitch people into falling in love with you or another person of your choice if you ask it politely and bribe it with a toy. The price for any of the two is blood from your body and only your body. If it doesn't get enough it will go out and get the required amount itself, often from neighbourhood pets. The master will have to act quickly when trails of animal blood lead to his/her door! To get rid of a toyol, the master has to go to the bombah who created him and give him the amount of money the toyol stole and often extra. Oh, and toyols arn't always green and are not ugly green freak of a demon! They wanted to be alive but they regret living in servitude of someone who almost always treats them as a slave D:<
