I'm not sure how there isn't already a topic for this.
I JUST got back from seeing it in theaters.
Oh. My. God.
I nerdgasamed the entire movie. Not just because it's comic/marvel/nerd culture, but because all the effects and everything was just brilliantly done.
While the dialogue in some bits seemed a little weird, the quips...my god the quips! They were AWESOME.

I would SUGGEST seeing the other movies, (Iron man, Captain America etc) but you don't HAVE to. I didn't and I was able to keep up with what was going on.

But GO SEE IT.

For realz.

Mark Ruffalo is definitely my favorite Bruce Banner. I'm glad he's signed on for 6 more Marvel films.

Well there was an Avengers topic (mostly for the movie coming out, and then another topic was made for the trailer)

but anywho,

Yes I saw this on Friday, loved it, I laughed, some scenes were emotional, laughed alot more, great action (I seriously under-estimated Joss Whedon as a director; the action scenes were perfect *a few minor flaws but nothing that can't be overlooked*

and I hope you all stayed into the credits,
Spoiler

also heard here in America there was another scene after all the credits (I missed it, after the spoiler part way into the credits scene I wasn't expecting anything else.

Oh I know, I found the scene online after I heard about.

So now we wait for

Dr. Strange, Iron-Man 3, Thor 2, The Incredible Hulk 2, Ant-man, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Avengers 2.

Absolutely loved the film though i refused to see it in 3D

I am a huge Thor fan and this film was fantastic and the story worked out perfectly to include everyone.Loki was awesome too and the actor who played him was very very good. Not a big fan of Nick Fury though but all in all the movie was a big hit and is now " the biggest opening superhero movie of all time in the UK.

Bar far the best film to come out this year.I think it is close to being the best superhero movie of all time .
Fantastic cast and crew . I have never seen The Hulk but I had a friend explain it to me and I think it worked it well.I liked how you had all the heroes be like drama queens and fall out with each other .It added a nice humour to it . I loved the banter ( chat) between Thor and Iron man , made me giggle. Quotes like these
(Not a spoiler really but if you dont want to know just skip the next part)

Tony Stark: Let's do a headcount: Your brother, the demigod; a super-soldier, a living legend who actually lives up to the legend; a man with breathtaking anger management issues; a couple of master assassins; and you've managed to piss off every single one of us.
Loki: That was the plan.
Tony Stark: Not a great plan.

Thor: He's my brother
Natasha Romanoff: He killed 80 people in 2 days
Thor: ...He's adopted

Thor: You have no idea what you're dealing with.
Tony Stark: Uh...Shakespeare in the park.
[making fun of Thor]
Tony Stark: Doth mother know, you weareth her drapes?

As for the ending, I always stay after the credits because 9 times out of 10 here will be something like there was with Captain America and Iron Man and Thor.

Hope my post doesn't spoil the movie.Trust me there are a million jokes in it that was just 3 :P

Oh and over here it was called "The Avengers Assemble" I have no idea why but it was so it wont be The Avengers 2 .Also what did you all think of Hawkeye?

I loved those quotes. All of the banter was just great.

I'm not sure how I feel about Hawkeye. I think they did a great job with his arrows, and I think the character was great but I feel like he kind of just got left by the wayside you know?

Well Hawkeye had the least development prior to this movie (only a cameo in Thor), Black widow was in Iron-Man 2 as a side character. They did try in this to give Hawkeye and black Widow some development (more individual character development time than anyone else who had their own establishing movies).

I have to praise this movie for combining the two origins for the Avengers rather than sticking with the Ultimates version that the previous movies were developing towards.

I have been reading online people complaining about Hawkeye not wearing a mask...well...he doesn't anymore, at least not that same one, and often doesn't bother.

It was renamed Avengers Asemble is to not confuse Brits with the old TV series of the same name:

Cause like, you UK folk wouldn't be able to know the difference. :P

Just got back, loved it. Joss Whedon's outdone himself. I was a bit worried about watching it in 3D since I can't see anolog 3D but it was the only version playing here and even though I didn't get any of the 3D effects it looked perfectly normal with the glasses so at least I wasn't watching a fuzzy movie.

Yes! That was epic!!

Also, when Thor held out his hand for his Hammer, I said "Accio Hammer..."
To say the least I got a couple of glares and a facepalm from the surrounding people. I thought it was funny XD

Yes! That was epic!!

It was captain america , he says when Hulk is around to help, just after he gets angry .its something like " remember ...hulk smash" because the Hulk has controlled his anger

Off to see this tomorrow evening after work, everyone I know that's seen it has said it's brilliant - so I figured I'd give it a go.

I've only seen the Iron Man movies previously though, I didn't bother with Captain America or Thor; I take it that won't leave me too bewildered as to what's going on?

It's better to have the back story but if you're already familiar with the comics you should be fine. Mind you Captain America was actually really good and Thor wasn't bad either. I really liked the new Hulk movie, big improvement on the 2003 one.

Actually the Thor and Captain America movies are kind of pivital to several plot points in Avengers, including the driving force for the main villain and a certain artifact that has a key role in both Captain America and Avengers.and both those are actually pretty good movies, The Incredible Hulk was good, not as good or as important to the Avengers storyline as Thor and Captain America are though.
