20 fantastic ways to find new music

I really like the TasteKidsite. You type in musicians you like, it gives you some others it thinks you might enjoy, and lets you play a song by them (linked to YouTube) and read a bit about them and links to the Wiki article of them.

TasteKid also lets you type in authors, books, movies, etc. So you can find more similar to those that you like, too.

I use Slacker radio on my phone. I've found plenty of new artists that way.

For anyone into electronic music or more experimental sounds, there's http://www.epitonic.com. Their genre list is pretty interesting, and it also suggests similar artists if you like what you hear. It was on hiatus for a long time when that Napster business went down, and recently they've made a comeback. Makes my ears happy.

I hate it though when you click on a Vevo video on Youtube and you get stuck in a loop where all the related videos are from fracking Vevo!

I use Last.fm to scrobble music. It will usually tell you similar bands to the one's you're listening to. As for me, I usually come across new bands/music just by happenstance.
