Since it launched yesterday I'm curious to see whose playing and what people think. I like it so far, there's enough new features that it doesn't feel exactly like another cookie cutter MMO. The group speech options are interesting, though I haven't gotten to play around the groups as much as I'd like. I also kind of like that your companions do your gathering and crafting for you, I'm still getting used to it but it's kinda nice.

I'm playing on the harbinger server with a jedi consular named Imily if anyone wants to bug me.

Crap.I was hoping to be home when it finally got released. I'll bug ya in about a month. Meanwhile, how's the gameplay? I tried the old SW MMO and it was terribly complicated and unfriendly. I play WoW now which is a lot simpler, but Blizzard kinda messed it up with the incredibly long farming sessions necessary for the epic items, so I wouldn't mind switching to this.

To be honest I'm getting kind of tired of Old Republic and Clone Wars stuff. I grew up when The New Republic was popular, so put some of that out there and you'll have my attention.

It's similar enough to wow that you probably won't have much trouble getting the hang of it Alexander. I played starwars galaxies too, and it didn't capture my attention much either. There were features to galaxies that I thought were kinda cool though, and swtor doesn't have some of those features. I mean things like the housing which made the game feel more like a community then a game, or like second life with an actual game story line to it. I also like how galaxies let you choose your side by the in game decisions you made rather then make you pick a side at character creation but the force allignment system in swtor is kinda kewl as well. My supervisor has a sith who is become much more evil looking as he becomes more attuned to the dark side.

Because the game is so similar to wow it's easy to get started in, controls are roughly the same and all that. There are some complaints that is a cookie cutter wow game, though I can't fully agree with that. I haven't seen how divided the light and dark side are, mainly because I haven't gotten a character high enough level to actually encounter any imperial players. I'm pretty sure that there will be the ability to communicate, unlike wow but beyond that I'm not sure. You don't have to stick with one side like you used to with wow. I'm not sure how the item grind will be in swtor either. I know what you mean about the grind for raid gear, I never did it myself but I've heard many many complaints about the hundreds of hours spent trying to get those items. So far credits and items have been fairly easy to come by but my toon is only level 14...

star wars Galaxies was good before it went to a rigid class system. Before that happened you could develop your character however you wanted. When it switched over I lost almost two months of development (my character was a crafter specializing in starships, but I would craft everything. I could also fight decently. When they switched I had to choose not just wether I wanted to be a crafter or a fighter, but what kind of crafter. I also tried to change my character type after that and lost all my data.) I only had two days left on my account so I thought "why pay for another month if they are going to screw people over like this?" so I stopped playing.

I tried only the Galaxies trial and it pissed me off. The movement and camera seemed strange, but what bugged me was the coloring style. It's the same reason why I didn't bother with Lineage or ever cared about what Everquest was about. SWTOR seems different though and from what I saw, seems more like fun than hard work, which is what WoW is all about now. And yes, the grinding was horrible when I last played in August - F.S., try THOUSANDS of hours for decent gear, not hundreds. The daily quests got me 6-7 badges for one particular quest that required 150 and 150 more for a related one, and that was without spending any on gear. I agree with people who say that it shouldn't be easy, but doing this for months and not even getting the best stuff is madness! Just when you think you've made it, they release the net expansion fuck and you can't shake the feeling that Willie E. Coyote is laughing his ass at you. Hope SWTOR isn't like that. I'll give it a try just 'cause I LOVE Star Wars.

Oh, and F.S.... 5 days to Winter-een-mas! Are ya festive yet? :D

I'm on the Shadow Hand server on the Imperial side. The Agent storyline is pretty good, but it feels a lot more solo oriented than group based. Especially since you get a companion character. Which is fine with me since I typically solo as much as possible in MMOs because I got tired of grouping with douchebags in my WoW and City of Heroes days.

I'm already seeing people at level 50 which is kind of a turn-off to me that you can cap that fast. I don't know how long it will keep my attention. But so far it's been fun. Although it took me away from Skyrim today.

If you are on Shadow Hand, and you hate rebel scum, feel free to look me up under the name "Magius."

You underestimate the power of lonely gamers in basements with nothing to do but play an MMO for 16-20 hours of every day, young padawan.

What did that give them, a solid week to do it in? Yeah, I can see that.

And how many of them did you see? I'm only curious due to Beta testers, I believe they get to keep their characters, and they would have leveled a bit as it was.

Also developers for WoW get to make their own weapons and armor sets if I heard correctly, not a far shot to assume that level capping for them would not be difficult.

All things considered, I doubt that it will be all that easy hitting level 50.

Of course, then again, I've never touched the game (though I'd love too), and I'm only speculating.

Beta testers don't get to keep anything from the beta, so that wouldn't have any impact on the level 50s. You can thank the lovable basement dwellers for that...

I'm seriously thinking of getting this as I've seen plenty of adverts for it and it looks pretty bloody good. Is anyone here still playing it? If so, how souped-up does my PC need to be in order to actually run the game?

I eventually want to play this game. My friend has it and I watched him play a few solo missions and once Flashpoint.

If I do eventually get it, I already know I'm going for the Sith Sorcerer.
