Altar stones are natural (usually) materials such as an actual rock slab or cut and polished marble. Both marble and rock slabs are popular amongst sorcerers. Some natural rocks are chosen for the natural "cups" that they have which can be useful for holding candles or ritual tools. Being so very heavy, they are quite difficult to move to one's home. Rock slabs are very useful for outdoor altars however.

My altar stone above doubles as a "hex" board. The stone has been charged by myself, and blessed and charged by Belial.

I bought my stone at Lowe's for under $10. It's green marble and 12" x 12". I used a Krylon Gold Leafing pen to paint the design.

The design isn't perfect as 1) I did not use an easel, and 2) it is freehand without the benefit of a sketch on the stone. However, I think it turned out fine. It took me awhile.

This is what it looks like by candlelight. The gold takes on a red hue. Odd?

Thank you, gentlemen. I hope to have my technique perfected soon. This could get addictive.

Key of Solomon is a book written in the 1600's. A collection of demon names and sigils.

and yes that is the Sigil of Belial (AKA Beliar)

Which is actually an interesting and mysterious demon/fallen angel. Mostly appearing in Apocrapha texts as he is often depicted in a way that makes him seem like the god of darkness opposite of the god of light (makes it feel like a Dualist system rather than a monotheist one) with how he's described.

He is described as the ruler of this world and champion of humanity's physical drives. Even in systems that place Satan as the ruler of Hell Belial is depicted as nearly his equal and with out being mastered by Satan (a demon of independence from the devil).
