For those that don't know there is this new Marvel Super heroes based cartoon called Marvel Super Heroes Squad. Its pretty much chibi-versions of the heroes (yet truer in aestetic style to the older comics than most cartoons)
However thanks to being stuck at home thanks to the snow I ended up watching this show, and then went on demand to check on some other episodes to try and confirm a suspicion.
the show is afraid to use the word "god".
Not once is Thor or any Asgard character refered to as a "god" they are called royalty and magical beings, but never gods...like the kids can't go to a library and read about Norse Mythology? Such books are in the children's section. In fact the word is never used in any context not even "god-like" or "goddess" or "god powers" or even the word "divine".
Its very weird, and I don't get it, even the Mis-Adventures of Flapjack will say "gods" heck the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy say "gods". So it does stand out that this cartoon will teeter around the word.
It really stuck out to me in that episode as Odin was trying to get Thor to return to Asgard by kept saying "your duties as a prince, prince of Asgard, ect..." but never once did any refer to the other as a god, and another episode where the heroes went to Asgard to fight frost giants and super-villains they called themselves magical beings, and never once said gods.

That's interesting. I'd like to say I'm surprised, but I'm not.
What's the public library system like in the States?
What's the public library system like in the States?
prety descent I'd say, the kid's section of the library near where I live has a whole section dedicated to religion and mythology, books on classical myths and Norse mythology are pretty common, also has books on Native American, Hindu, Chinese, Japanese, ect... I remember when my mother was picking out books to read to my nephews when they were smaller, and got one on Aboriginal Australian stories and Native American.
So kids have exposure to these things. Plus I'd imagine any older siblings or parents who know the super-heroes would quickly say the line, "That's the Mighty Thor, god of thunder."
and he's in the animated movies (our own versions of OVA's it seems), Hulk vs Thor, Ultimate Avengers, and Ultimate Avengers 2. Which despite the clear age difference in demographic I doubt too many parents are all that careful between them watching the one with the chibi-versions vs the movie versions.
Add on what I said before about other cartoons on the same channel around that show's time slot having gods and calling them such just makes it that much weirder.
