The philosophy of tikkun olam is a part of Jewish tradition. It is a Hebrew phrase that means "repairing the world" or "perfecting the world." This practice, according to the tradition, should be followed not because it is required by Biblical law, but because it helps avoid social chaos.

    Quote

For some Jews, the phrase tikkun olam means that Jews are not only responsible for creating a model society among themselves but also are responsible for the welfare of the society at large.

    Tikkun olam.

It's called enlightenment MzKat and it comes from education. The more educated a people the more peaceful a nation.

That's why I believe the best way to improve third world nations is to educate their citizens. teach a person to read and the universe opens up before them.

True, the more educate there are, yes, there IS a POSSIBILITY of peace., but we can't deter the stain that has soiled them when they were not "properly" educated yet. Their will to take vengeance against society for leaving them there for so long and just helping them now would still thrive in their minds. There would be a situation where they just won't listen to us, and still go about their old ways.

We just simply can't avoid social chaos.

Yes, it is unfortunate that some people would fall through the cracks. Many in this generation will not get the education needed to enrich their lives and many may not reach their potential for enlightenment within their lifetime but that is no reason not to try. It should be a global ambition to reach everyone and provide them with an education and those we lose in this generation should act as a reminder to double our efforts when reaching out to the next.

I never said it would be easy but nothing worthwhile ever is.

Yes, it would be a hard and gruesome task for humanity, but to stay in the positive side, I think we have a chance to make it through. It would help more if there were less selfish people out there though.

Love, a powerful energy made up of the highest of frequencies, was spread infinitely far - to the greatest reaches of the universe. It is because of misers who horde love that love is so scarce where it is needed most.
This Jewish practice... is it done like a ritual?
