Why do we view people who do bad things as monsters? Do you think that there are some people who are beyond redemption?
If a person does not participate in causing the suffering of others, but simply does nothing to stop it, are they redeemable? Are they just as much to blame? Are they not consenting to these atrocities, by not doing anything to stop them? Should we not hold them just as accountable?
We also seem to have varying degrees of evil, and we seem to believe that those who commit "lesser evils" are redeemable, but there's a line somewhere that can't be crossed. And how do we know people can't change, if no one believes they can? Even if they have changed, no one would believe it.

I truly believe that there are some people that will not change at all. They get into trouble, go to prison, get out and do it all over again; time and time again. Whether it's murder, rape, burglary, or any other crime, some just either will not or cannot stop doing it.

Some people are terrified to report on people because of retaliation from the criminal. I have experienced this first hand with Jamie. He tried to help the police and received some very nasty threats, I pull him out of the investigation post haste.

This is one interesting aspect where I think christians have failed time and time again. The bible states that only one sin is unforgivable, but that otherwise all sins are seen as exactly the same by god. I think every single person is redeemable, it's a matter of personal choice. I had to tell my boyfriend recently that he only deserves what he has earned, and that if he wishes to change and be worthy of that change then all he has to do is get out there and earn it by doing it. The same is true for anyone else.
