Do you plan on shopping on Black Friday?
Do you shop on Black Friday? Or, do you bury your head in the sand and avoid all the craziness? Why? Why not?

    Quote

Black Friday is a term for the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States, which is the beginning of the traditional Christmas shopping season. Because Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday in November in the United States, Black Friday occurs between the 23rd and the 29th of November.

I am never a big fan of shopping, let alone on a day when a zillion people are out doing the same thing, but I am pretty tempted to shop online this year.

I wish we had black friday...I need a new laptop, cheap. Mine finally gave up the last bit of hope and turned into a portable strobelight with odd soundeffects. Just as I got the Sims3 expansion, of course.

Of course! Seattle has a Holiday parade and a tree lighting ceremony on that day. I enjoy buying products cheaper anyways, rather than waiting and spending full price.

No, I will be working ...at Target. Last year we had a line that wrapped around the entire store, since our ad is MUCH bigger this year it will be even worse.

I don't get some people on Black Friday, I mean a lot of people take a day off of work to get the deal... so they are losing a work day's pay. But I guess if they get a lot of deals it makes up for it.

Speaking of Target, some of their deals this year...
    - Westinghouse 32” HDTV $246 (it's usually $430)
    - Polaroid LCD Camcorder $39
    - Select Chefmate Appliances $3 (coffee makers, slow cookers, toasters...etc.)
    - A lot of dvds, blu-rays and cds for around 75% off (they have tv show box sets for $8.99 when usually they are over $40).
    - Big bath towels for $1.50

There are a million more. Huge deals in every section of the store. It's going to be pure chaos. Here's the full ad if you're curious.

Some stores open at 4am and there will still be lines of people waiting to get in. There is no way I would go shopping on Black Friday. I worked fast food and the holiday times were always frantic.

I sure as hell would not be getting up at 3am to go shopping!

I'll be shopping online - Amazon.com has an entire week of Black Friday specials starting today. I might visit a couple of local stores, but that's about it.

And does anyone remember that horrible trampling death a year ago at Wal-Mart on Black Friday? People are just insane nowadays come shopping season.

Yeah, I remember it. How sad. losing a life over something so trivial. What got me the most was the people that walked around (or over him) him and kept shopping.

If it can't be gotten over the computer they're not getting it.

No. Every Black Friday I ring the bell for the Salvation Army outside of Walmarts collecting for charity and watching the insane shoppers. The people driving in a crowded parking lot while on the cell is scary.

Careful, I don't know if all stores are like mine but if you call in on Black Friday you're fired. You have to have a damn good reason not to show, like a doctor's note saying you were seriously ill or something. Black Friday employees at Target have their entire day planned to the minute, so people calling in throws off hours and hours of careful planning and screws over a lot of people.

All of their sales are posted here.
Black Friday will be super awful there since Gamestop is so tiny inside. I remember when I worked there when Halo 2 was released and that was pure chaos.

hehe yes, thank you for that. I will look at that.

What I meant was the door prizes they give out for the first 5 people or so, or special things they do like that. Alot of reason why so many get out so early is for those things and specials that retailers put on sale for the first hour their open.

I will be one of the idiots standing in line at Best Buy...at 3a.m. It may be pointless to even go to bed. I think I will go to the bar & hang w/ friends til they have to close, maybe talk Kee Kee in standing with me, lol. Yeah..won't happen.

But damn at the deals! I will be PISSED if I'm not able to get what I want!
