Tarot

As I do not consider myself an expert on Tarot, I have been practicing for many years. I've seen some threads about Tarot, but not many. So I've decided to do a thread primarily about Tarot. As I said, I am not an expert, so if you guys ask any questions that I don't know, I'll definitely find out what I can for you.

Okay, so let's begin.

The one thing with Tarot is that you need to remember all meanings to all cards are subject to interpretation and though there are core meanings. I will tell you my personal interpretation of the tarot cards.

The tarot deck is made up of 78 cards divided into two categories: the Major and Minor arcana's. 22 cards in the Major Arcana, , the remaining 56 in the Minor Arcana.

The first card I will show you is:

0 (Zero), The Fool

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t64/kairosd/TheFool.jpg

This card represents the young, carefree, childish, an nuisance, innocence, enthusiasm, start of a quest.
Indicates a willingness to leap into the unknown. A new beginning.

Reversed (Meaning the card can have a weaker meaning, or opposite mening of the upright card):

The quest has been achieved; it is time to rest and decide on a new objective.
Low energy. It's time to move forward.

-

I, The Magician

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v61/pussicat/tarot/maj01.jpg

This card is a deeply masculine card. You have the ability to brainstorm and summon new ideas. You have control over your own destiny.

Reversed:

You lack confidence and hesitate.
Be careful where you place your trust.

-

II, The High Priestess

http://mystical-arts.com/02_High_Priestess.jpg

(Tip: Because The High Priestess is a woman in a throne, this means she is a woman of power or great wisdom. A woman on a throne is always a mother.)

The Mother/Motherly figure

This card represents fertility, intuition, seeking wisdom and meaning of life and mysteries.

Reversed:

Knowledge recieved is tailored to ones ability to understand.
Suggests deception, selfishness, vanity and instability.

-

III, The Empress

http://www.sacred-texts.com/tarot/pkt/img/ar03.jpg

(Tip: The Empress is another card representing a woman on a throne, which is always a mother. But in this case, in my interpretation, I also consider the Empress as a sister but it usually depends on the other cards to tell me which.)

This Empress is also called 'The Mother of All.'

Mother/Sister

This card suggests luxury and abundance, inspiration, beauty, competence. It can also indicate pregnancy.
A project nears completion.

Reversed:

Progress is slow but one gains understanding. It can also suggest overindulgence, barrenness or domineering attitudes.

-

I will post more later. If you have any questions about Tarot, please feel free to ask them.

Healing

I was reading this case study of a Hmong man who was suffering from an attack of dab tsog. It's also known as "Sudden Unexplained Nocturnal Death Syndrome" to the Western scientists. It's something that happens during sleep, when you feel that you are suffocating and are in a panic.

A shaman came to heal him, in a healing process that involved candles, chanting, and walking between two knives. The man was healed.

If we convince ourselves that we have an illness, if there's some mystical cause for it, or some real cause that creates a mystical illness, doesn't it make sense that a mystical cure would work? Without the healing process, the man may have died. But the cure worked, and he hasn't had an attack since.

Shamans and healers, even if it's only the "placebo effect," have real power.

Evil Eye- Mal de Ojo

Mal de Ojo

Quote

Mal de ojo, sometimes called “evil eye,” is a folk illness which most commonly affects children. It has been defined as a hex caused by a gaze from a more powerful or stronger person looking a weaker person (usually an infant or child but sometimes a woman). It may be someone from outside the family looking at the child with envy, or a stare from a powerful person who is admiring the child. It is usually caused inadvertently.

It is thought that shielding the infant from powerful people's direct eye contact can prevent mal de ojo. Having the powerful adult touch the child on the head is also thought to prevent mal de ojo, and a traditional treatment for mal de ojo is to find the person who placed the hex and have them touch the affected child. If this is not possible, a healer (usually a relative or a curandera) may roll a egg over the sufferer's body. The egg is then cracked, placed in a glass of water, and set under the bed of the sufferer. Sometimes a straw cross is made on top of the glass. Prayers are usually said during this ritual.

I've been reading a lot about "culture-bound syndromes" which are illnesses that are culture-specific. These are usually unexplained by Western science. I've been reading about alternative healing, shamans and healers. It's fascinating. If you can believe yourself sick, you can believe yourself well again, sort of. Or maybe it actually is magic.

UFO Disclosure

I was just wondering what Darkness thought about it. It seems to be a real hot topic in the circles I've been running in lately and I was curious how many of you even believed in UFOs. As in real ET.

A lot of the opinions I've been getting is that it's being forced from the opposing forces to the world powers on this planet. That it's going to happen whether the governments of the world want it to or not. It's probably going to result in wide spread panic if our world leaders don't step up to the plate. What with the UFO over the Kremlin and signs that spiral was not a missle appearing.

I'm assuming with the revelation that we are not alone in the universe many things will change. Definitely world power structures and the technology that is available to every day citizens. I won't say all those UFOs are ETs. There is witness testimony stating that the U.S. government has had outside contact for quite some time and have been reverse engineering. The resounding sentiment is that it's supposed to happen soon. Who knows.

Probably another can of worms, amirite?

The Return of the Werewolf

More than 140,000 years ago wolves and humans formed a common bond and evolved together in one of the most successful partnerships ever fashioned. The wolf's strength, stamina, keen sense of hearing, and extraordinary sense of smell helped humans to hunt prey and to overcome predators. Because we humans teamed up with wolves, we became better hunters and thus supplanted our rival species of Homo erectus and Neanderthal.

The human species greatly depended upon wolves for its continued existence and modeled much of their behavior, especially in the area of survival skills, upon the wolf. As these prehistoric "wolf men" learned over time to hunt in packs and, with the assistance of their wolf allies, to subdue much larger predators, then certain elements of lupine savagery may well have been "inherited" along with the more noble aspects of a sense of community and mutual support.

From the earliest stages of social evolution when all men and women strove to be like wolves, the human community eventually reached the time when it would be considered improper, antisocial, and criminal to behave like a wolf. Still, there remained the sorcerers and those on the fringes of society who believed that one could attain great power by maintaining those lupine links to a more savage past. They believed that they had the ability to shape shift to werewolves--wolf men and women.

Lair of the Beasts: Beware of the Devil Dogs

In his absolutely definitive book Explore Phantom Black Dogs, the author and researcher Bob Trubshaw wrote the following: “The folklore of phantom black dogs is known throughout the British Isles. From the Black Shuck of East Anglia to the Mauthe Dhoog of the Isle of Man there are tales of huge spectral hounds ‘darker than the night sky’ with eyes ‘glowing red as burning coals.’ The phantom black dog of British and Irish folklore, which often forewarns of death, is part of a world-wide belief that dogs are sensitive to spirits and the approach of death, and keep watch over the dead and dying. North European and Scandinavian myths dating back to the Iron Age depict dogs as corpse eaters and the guardians of the roads to hell. Medieval folklore includes a variety of ‘Devil dogs’ and spectral hounds.”

One of the most infamous of all black-dog encounters in the British Isles occurred at St. Mary’s Church, Bungay, Suffolk, England, on Sunday, August 4, 1577, when an immense and veritable spectral hound from hell materialised within the church during a powerful thunderstorm and mercilessly tore into the terrified congregation with its huge fangs and razor-sharp claws. In fact, so powerful was the storm that it reportedly killed two men in the belfry as the church tower received an immense lightning bolt that tore through it and shook the building to its ancient foundations.
