whatever we can understand. i know its always dangerous to assume you can summon xxx for your own uses but a weird thought occurred to me (no jokes from the peanut gallery). would it be possible to summon xxx and instead of doing bidding to talk with the xxx? basically get insight on how things were, what they have seen, etc....

don't ask me where this came from it just did

clarification request on meaning.

there are some entities who are summoned only for the purpose of gaining knowledge on this or that subject, some of which require no more payment than the ritual intales for the summoning.
DragonKing9
sorry if i wasn't clear. what do you need me to clarify?

do you mean what I answered, wanting something that gives information as its sole purpose and no big pay-up for its help?
Alaras
Don't know about him, but I'd find that helpful (or even one that simply is willing to collect experiences or dispense advice at no cost other than the ritual).
DragonKing9
sorry rhuen let me try again....

lets say i want to summon xxx and kill a couple hours just talking to them about their plane of existence, what they normally do when summoned, experiences from being summoned, etc.....basically a meet and greet
Alaras
I'm sure there are SOME beings out there that'd do that. Of course, they may just do what Yivo does and use genticles to mate with you without your knowledge or consent.

hmm, I doubt too many would want to anymore than most people would want to sit around and explaine their life and world to a mouse (even if it can understand you somehow).

but I guess there must be some out there bored enough and not malicious enough to do that.

Although I would be suspicious of any that would, thinking they are stalling for time to either gather enough energy (possibly from your emotions) or the physical world to break free, or gain your trust to trick you into letting them loose into the world.
DragonKing9
thats what i was thinking. that they would ahve no interest in shooting the breeze with a human or try to get out of it
Zan
Well, King Solomon was rumored to have a ring that put all demons under his command, thus he was able to gather information about them, likely by talking to them.

Hey guys

Now we're talking! Good question. Seems to me you all have had negative experiences or are assuming the worst but surely there are entities that are not evil or would like to help humans just because they are essentially good entitities? I mean, what about light beings (meaning beings that are pure and good, etc)? Surely the whole of existence isn't all negative? There must be something or someone who would not mind being asked to give information and other than a fairly innocuous sort of payment expect nothing much? Or am I just too hopeful and optimistic? I believe there is good out there just as much as there is evil.
Alaras
Humans tend to be considered annoying at best, and worthless at worst. That's why I don't summon.
Rhuen
i like to use the Earthworm analogy.

after a rain when the sun comes out you see Earthworms on the side walk. They may die or they may make it to the safety of the grass and dirt, you are an immensly more complicated and powerful being. As you stand there you could ignore them as lesser beings beneath your concern (or feel its improper to interfere with nature).
you could bend down and help them, or you could step on them (or catch them to use as bait, torture, disect, experiment on ect...)

Good, bad, or neutral not many higher beings think of humans as anything near an equal, and even the nicest can loose their patience (which can end badly when you are something so much less intellegent and/or powerful than they are).
