I was reading a conversation on a paranormal investigations website and the topic of weird stuff showing up in photos came up. The photos in question were deemed to be unexplained and you could very clearly see a shadow figure in one photo that really looked like a reaper and had a skull for a face - the photos were checked for authenticity, etc. Also, there were some mediums discussing this and they referred to the reaper as a "demon". Has anyone got links to any information that classifies demons in such a way - I have seen the majority of demonology listings but I don't recall seeing reapers in those listings.

That's because 'Reapers' is an invention of modern fantasy writings and pop culture. There are many assorted 'Deaths' throughout myth and legend but they're generally angels in scary costumes or Valkyries carrying warriors off to Valhalla etc..

we fear death, and what we fear we consider evil, thus many consider the messengers of death evil.

of course unless you welcome death like the vikings and then instead of shadowy harvesters we get seductive busom maidens on horseback.

then what happens to the zeb budhists who learn to accept death without ever wanting it?

they see their next life and prepare for it.

No need for mediums when one accepts it and walks through the door upon their natural passing.

We see what we expect to see.

Usually forms like that are referred to as "shadow people", not reapers... so I would be interested in reading that conversation, if you wouldn't mind linking us to it. Also, the reaper (or grim reaper) is actually an angel of death (not a demon), which we should all know as not truly being evil, as God (if you believe in God) sends the angel of death forth to collect those He is ready to bring to his side, or who are due for judgement.
As the skull/skeleton is one of the strongest avatars of death, it would be easy to see how the symbolism could be confused.

Shadow people (in theory) are supposed to be dark souls who are just as trapped here as normal ethereal entities (ghosts), and are sometimes seen at locations where strong spiritual (usually malevolent) activity occurs, or in places people consider to be evil.

That's just based on what I've read tho... I've only ever seen what could be considered a shadow person once, and it fit the profile... to a degree anyway.
Those people who were messing with energies they didn't understand, while drinking heavily, which is always a very bad idea.

As a follower of the Zen Buddhist philosophy, I can assure you that those who come to terms with death without seeking it easily pass on. They just go from A to B with a very short transitional period if needed to assure oneself that one's affairs are in order. All rather neat and tidy, and I happen to like that.

-_^ Rapers arent evil. if they exist they're indifferent. they only bring souls from one world to the other. they're only considered evil cause it was used to scare children into sleep and make them be good during the ages of the Roman Catholic Church. and because it is a christian philosophy it is then brought into the new generations to be used as a symbol for death and evil in which case it is to scare people into being/becoming christian and making them believe that they're god is better then any other then they get go to a perfect place even if they raped and killed they're whole life as long as they say "dear god i apologize for killing and raping ill be good i promise". its all about scare tactics to make them believe or do what they want if it wasn't for that then they would only be some kind of low demon (like a gremlin) and they again only transport souls to they;re final resting place. i mean this in no offense to christians
