[COLOR=red][SIZE=1][FONT=Optima] ever since i was little i've wished to be one of the undead, as a child i would pick my scabs on perpose and suck on them because i loved the taste of blood. i just don't know but i have met 2 people that have done the same so evidently i am not the only insane one here. i just don't know but its something about vampires that intrigues me... i don't understand what it is but i've had a small infatuation with lestat from reading interview with a vampire and queen of the damned, and then seeing the movies... i feel like i want to be one of them so understand more about them and what they are really like, i know i do sound a bit strange but its just something about them...

Perhaps it's the hollywood image of vampires, the extra-ordinary features they have. The feats they can accomplish, the image that they are adored by people yet feared by people.
Maybe it's just something as simple as wanting to be something other than yourself.
Since becomming a vampire is a highly unlikely posibility, try looking into yourself for those features you admire in a vampire, i'm sure that you will find some of them within yourself. Just look deep and hard, and try not to think of the holleywood image so much.
Keep in mind to, that vampires originally were supposed to be creatures who couldn't enjoy the sun, who preyed on the weak and the innocent, who brutally murdered them, who were hunted and burned or decapitated, who were stinky, filthy, and alone. Somehow, it doesn't seem so lovely does it?

But I know what you mean, ever since I was a lil kid I've been fasinated by the vampire world, scretly wishing that I could be a part of it, having the night life, havin all the kewl features.. sounds kewl to me :D although, like all things, it has its disadvantages, but I thin kI could work around them :D B)

And just think...if someone longing to be a vampyre due to the ones portrayed in Hollywood that have the outstanding powers and all...just think...What if youre one of those people...and one day you awake to learn that you are a vampyre and find out what the whole deal really is...then how would you feel? If it was nothing like you dreamed then what would you want?

I would do anything to be a "hollywood vampire". And it's not strange. But I would never, never be a real vampire. If I were I would feel as a criminal with a mask. I mean, I would have to conduct a normal life, thus betraying most of the people I know acting as a human yet being not. Terrible.

in repsonse with what some are saying about the hollywood image, i think if it wasn't for media and movies i would never have heard of vampires (im saying if we lived in a world with no media and such)... but the hollywood portrayal has often made me angry because it's not correctly portrayed... ive always been more facinated by the 'real' vampire world...

I too went through the same phase. I suppose that the obsession with vampires is because humans are considered the "top of the food chain". Now many of us ask, what would happen if their were beings that were ahead of humans? What if we were a reliable food source for a more powerful entity? This subject is altogether quite fascinating and humans have dicovered an answer, vampires. So therefore we think of them not as mere beings, but gods, and we show them the respect and awe that we would show a god.

My point with the food chain is that humans were not the main source of food for any animal. Have you seen a news report saying that 1 victim was killed by a bear? In a description of any animal or otherwise it does not say "primary food source - human", it may say it attacks human but not that it eats them on a more regular basis.

To have that power to kill so easily. And after reading books like Draculas Journal and Demon in my view, I wanted to be one so bad. I knew kids who pretended to be vampires and it just made me sick because I just wanted to be one so bad. I have the disease as my friend calls it of wanting to be the Undead. I just can't understand that if people got these ideas there must be some truth behind it like that they are real. If I ever get the chance i'd change in a heart beat

I have done all of this the same as all of you , picked scabs, drank my own blood, sleep in the day and browze the streets at the night...that only worked out for a little while...but is any possible way? Of course there is Caine! There is a known 'infection' named vampirism, that ran rampant in the early medieval dark ages. It's possible to be infected these days to, you see, The source of vampirism is the Human Vampiric Virus (HVV). Like Rabies, HVV belongs to the order Mononegavirales, viruses with a nonsegmented, negative-stranded RNA genome. Viruses in this group have a distinct bullet shape. The virus' natural host is a flea commonly found on cave-dwelling bats, especially the vampire bat. In the most common scenario, a bat which has been bitten by the flea passes the virus on to livestock and humans through a bite.
While in theory HVV infection is possible through any exchange of bodily fluids, transmission occurs through the bite of an infected person in virtually every case.
You can actually get this, and there is a vaccine for it...but anyway, the changes aren't very beautiful, like the Chronicles would have you believe...

Stage One: Infection. Within hours of being bitten, the victim develops a headache, fever, chills and other flu-like symptoms as the body tries to fight off the infection. These symptoms can be easily confused with more common viral infections, although the presence of bite marks on the body are usually enough to confirm the diagnosis. This stage generally lasts between six and twelve hours, during which the vaccine is 100 percent effective.

Stage Two: Vampiric Coma. Within 24 hours of being bitten, the victim will slip into a vampiric coma. During this phase, the pulse slows, breathing is shallow and the pupils are dilated. The large numbers of people mistakenly buried alive while in vampiric comas gave rise to the myth that vampires sleep in coffins. While it is commonly thought that anyone infected with HVV turns into a vampire, in fact only a small percentage of people survive vampiric comas. Generally, the young, the old and the feeble never come out of their vampiric comas and eventually die. The vast majority of people who survive vampiric comas are males between the ages of 18 to 35. Vampiric comas last about a day; the victim usually comes out of the coma the night after its onset. The vaccine is 50 percent effective when administered during Stage Two of the infection: the longer the victim has been in the coma, the less effective the vaccine

Stage Three: Transformation. A bite victim who survives the coma will awaken fully transformed into a vampire. An acclimation period follows, characterized by confusion, despondency and paranoia. Most vampires begin to hunt within 24 hours of transformation. The vaccine is of no use at this point.

Not a bad feeling Raza. If I were a born HLV I probably would have tried to face the situation and not regret for my condition. But I ask myself who wants to become an HLV, not an immortal vampire, but a human with more limitations than a normal human? I would not. And these are not bad feelings, in my opinion is good sense. :D
