do psi vampires crave energy like other vampires crave blood?
Final Ultima
Actually, it's pretty hard to say, I'd reckon that a few would and a few wouldn't, probably more so the one's who would, but of course, the need comes first, not the desire.

How would a psi energy craving feel? I'm speculating, but a blood craving is like hunger-right? Am I totally off base? unsure.gif

aye, they do... for the craving, i.e. need: is the basis of vampirism.

So, just to confirm, was I right, or did I screw up?

are you asking me?
Final Ultima
I'm asking anyone that knows more about the matter than I do.

Well you can have psi & sang vamps but traditionally PSI's don't crave blood like sang..but as I said, hybrids do.
Crimson_tears
Yes thay do but they have a better contorl over it and are less in danger from blood related dieseise such as AIDS...

I thought Vamps had more immunity to things like that.

Or perhaps like rats, they're immune system works on a mutual basis.... Any viruses in the blood stream call a "truce" with the White Blood cells, just so as they can use the body as a carrier.. So In other words, Are you saying that Vamps can Get Somthing like AIDS and die? Or Do they Just have 'carrier' properties and just give the virus to those who they feed off of, but don't kill.

Wow, I'm not sure exactly how to reply to this....
Viruses do not "call truce" with immune systems. Rats have a really strong secondary immune system, and a fairly weak primary system, so their blood doesn't kill many viruses outright, though it is not so easy for them to die of the infection. And most of the time, rats die of diseases that they carry, but they pass it on before they die. This comes up especially when rats feed on rat corpses.
I've been researching the hell out of virology, trying to come up with a way for a virus to "call truce" with an immune system, and it doesn't happen. At least, not yet. No known virus acts that way, and I've looked high and low for evidence to the contrary.
PupilEX
Yeah, that 'truce' was just a theory, I don't really know too much about immune systems, but that was always my guess with rats. Shows what I know! unsure.gif

Hmm I wonder how strong the immune system of a vampire is... Maybe They're T-Cells have all the anti-body data they need and can creat the anti-bodies rather quickly...

Or there could be the possibility of "vampirism" being a virus itself, or more of a parasite! The parasites release enzymes, to keep it's host from aging! Also, the parasite tends to use many resources from the blood, quicker than the bone marrow can make it red blood cells.... the parasite triggers certain neurons in the brain to create a craving for blood, so when the blood is consumed, the parasite has energy to live on... with billions of them dying and multiplying, it almost becomes a stable universe for the parasite to exist...

That's just My Guess, ther is no proven fact to that, but that would be a scientific explanation.

Well, if you're interested in what some of us came up with, there was a thread here somewhere about how vampires would work, scientifically, what the explanation would be, and how they would be what they are without involving magic or anything. the thread was called "real Vampires", and I think it was started by whitedestruction. Just hit Back once and scroll down, you should see it there somewhere, but it might have wrapped to the next page by now.

At times we do crave energy.
