I've got a thery. call me crazy, or stupid if you wish, but this is mearly my pondering, what if.......

I read a section in gothic grimore about demons. in this pasage it says that in the days of old, negitive energy was often formed into actual demons by the minds and belifes of the people. if they actully belived, and gave the energy a face and a name, it sometimes made an appearnce to them. prehaps this was just their imaginations, but lets just say this being had manifested. If strong belives in demons could lead to their manefetation, its possable Vampires could manifest in this way. acording to what i've come up with, the idea of vampires(even if known by another name) have been around since before civilization. if the people of long ago belived stongly enough in these vampires, a creature as such could manifest. if the manifetation was strong enough, it could make an actual phyical appearnce.
but today, with so few actully haveing full faith in the existance of these creatures, the ones made long ago would disappear.
this is reaching out pretty far, but the power of human will, and belife is very strong.
it was just an idea.

Oh, I have no intention of calling anyone crazy, or stupid. That is not what this board is for. Everyone here should be either expressing an opinion, offering information, or hazarding a theory. As long as you are not flaming someone or calling them a crazy idiot, you are not out of line. ^_^
I've run across this idea several times too. The idea is simply that if human imagination and will have some significance, some supernatural effect, rather than just being electrical impulses crackling through our brain-meat, then anything that we believe enough will come to pass. Ergo, Man creates God. And, while he's at it, Man creates a lot of other things.
Except for the one thing that set the vampires apart from every other mythological creature or demon... their appetite. Demons and werewolves and unicorns and pixies and fir darrig and nuckalavee were not self-sufficient, and they did not have any intrinsic method to replenish themselves. But vampirse, if they were ever "manifested", would have persisted long after the belief faded away, because they would have the capacity to feed on humanity, to forcibly take whatever it needs to persist. If any manifest monster of mythos were to persist to the modern era, vampires would be the most likely, not the least. And, if the stories are to be believed, they would be growing steadily more canny, more sneaky, more powerful and more capable the longer they were existant.
Something to ponder, really.

you have a point. If they drank blood, and held on to their extance, they very well, could live on through the modern era. Interesting.....

As for my opening statement. I have gotten ridicled here, even when i wasn't out of line.(there was once when i was out of line, and paided dearly for it) I've also been a parinoid person since 5th grade because i relized that everyone in my school hated me. it still holds true, so thats kind of why my conficence is on the low.

OK LOOK.. once i read this book about this dude that did all this vampire research.

He went to all these different little villages in every part of the world, and they all had a name for a vampire, and it was also described the exact same way, in every language.

He wrote it in all the different ways, and told you all the differences between them all...and at the end he lets you decide if you believe it all.

They all were vampire related things though.

Personaly..i did think it was all true.
