Years ago I was being driven home by some friends, we were going through the Malmsbury area (creepy place in the uk) when a huge almost as big as the car huge shadow apparition of a dog started to run beside the car.

It had more solidity than a shadow, but was still the suggestion in shape we could see it was clearly a dog though, truly terrifying we saw red glowing from where the eyes should be, it matched the car in speed for several miles.

We all saw it, thankfully we managed to keep Mark the driver as calm as possible, and used all our will to get it to leave.

We were lucky to have got back safely.

That road is a hot spot for accidents, I wonder if they saw chuck too.

I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience, with strange things whilst driving?
Acheron
I have seen spirits racing down the road before, a shade or two, but no dog.

Sounds like you saw a Black Shuck.

As for weird things while driving at night, I don't trust my eyes with the shadows just off the headlights or the rearview mirror :I also doubt most descriptions of monsters and such in these situations because of the problems this situation causes for the human eye.

But my mother tells me that not long ago "in the daytime" while she was driving she saw and animal she didn't recognize and asked me about. she describes it as a cross between a Dachshund and a Mouse. It was really tiny and crossed the road when it reached the other side it stood up on its hind legs and looked at her. She got a good look at it as she stopped too. It to her was like a tiny Dachshund "wheener dog"

Thank you for the correct spelling Rhuen.

It was plain to see, there was no mistaking it. Your right though, I find others hard to believe so I accept it when others disbelieve me.

It made itself very obvious to us all, and I hate going anywhere in a car at night now, creepy :yikes000:

Funny thing about driving at night is that I look around and think how it easy it would be for me let alone a monster of somesort to hide from people. Why I have to laugh at the "if its real why hasn't anyone caught one for examination yet" when its so easy to not be seen if your smart and don't want to be seen these days, especially if it can pass as human(or another animal) and doesn't need two forms of ID for what it needs.

"with everyone looking for Bigfoot, the fairies and elves have gotten apartments in Manhatten" :icon12:

On the castle of spirits ghosts encounters website there are alot of stories about people seeing weird things on the road or by the road at night,

but the common eyebrow raising trend is the unlit cloudy back roads at night factor.

I never had that experience, but isn't it a superstition that if you see a black dog with red eyes, one of your party will die soon?
err...not to freak you out...it's just a old wives tale...

I think it goes if you see it, you can't tell anyone about it for one year or you'll die.
