when you think of a vampire either from a book or movie what makes you so fascinated by them.

I really enjoy vampire movies and books because I like the fantasy of immortality and endless youth.

but i am very curious why so many other people like vampires.
MoonlightSuicide
personaly i like the vampires from the anime hellsing that show is awesome. however i would not like to be immortal there is buety and rest to dying and i would never want to miss the experience.
ShadowDreamer
true by being immortal you will miss out on the beauty of death, but by living you will never miss out on expierence and beauty that is life
lady-moonlight
Charisma and pure romance, that makes your breath catch.

I'm sure the appeal is far different for a woman than it is for a man.

I like my vampyres to be beautiful and tragic, a visual poetry.

It's not really immortality that I like. I really don't care how long I live. I was interested in vampires since I saw Interview With a Vampire. I don't even really care for that "type" of vampire. What got me so interested was when I read Brain Lumley's Necroscope series. I loved the power and strength that those vampires had. They have the ability to be "ramantic" and sexy in their own way, but they are very scary. They transform and become the ultimate predator. And they are very intelligent and are capable of mind control and other paranormal abilities.

For me that kind of vampire is the ultimate package, and that's why I love it. I can't get enough of it.

Sound yummy :icon11:

I've always had a macabre, kind of sensual attraction to the vampire type i guess you would call it. Savage beauty, like in nature, they seem like they would be a natural part of nature, predatory, evolved humans, and yes i am a tree hugger, animal lover whatever you want to call it. Nature is everything to me the earth is my mother, she nurtures me, and provides me with all i need. Anyway, the very first movie that i ever watched that really sparked my interest in vampires was The Hunger, with Susan Sarandon, David Bowie and Catherin Deneuve...it's old (1983) but bery good and to me pretty telling of what it would be like to be a vampire...tragic and lonely, but wise beyond comprehension.

I believe if you poled lots of men and women, you would find a great difference between their answers. Since I cannot speak for the male species, I can only say that I am so attracted to danger (yes, the old Bad Boy image---I married one, God help me, and I have paid for it) and sheer lust, not immortality per say. I want my heart to pound at the sight of unfathomable eyes and long, white canines, knowing my life is in someone else's hands.

Dammit, I'm hot just thinking about it.

Batman
gaze and spiritual gravity(power counterpart) would be my best guesses

I had a fascination with vampires, I liked their inmortality and the "powers" that were given to them in somewrittings and movies.

But I decided to land in reality and neither like them anymore nor want to become one.
lady-moonlight
I think most women want to meet that sensual, sexual vampyre god and have their world rocked.

Most men want to be that vampyre!

Just a thought. biggrin.gif
Northern Star
Lady Moonlight, have i already said that i like you?

no stupid, thats for sure.

For me, vampires are wonderful escape from reality. Vampires are beautiful and seductive creatures and can fuel your imagination. They also get your mind into the 'What ifs' which are always fun. For me vampires are a creature of fantasy, having never met one myself (no offence to anyone) and it causes a sort of longing for them to be truly real (again no offence) and to encounter such fascinating and mysterious creatures. They are creatures I have always loved, even since I was little. ^_^

I thinks it's because they designed in books/movies as beautiful, to be more appealing to the public - next is that they are shown as sexy, having an erotic and aluring nature. It's the idea of being seduced by them, these beautiful unchanging creatures that people enjoy. It allows their imaginations to run wild with thoughts of hunting, having erotic encounters etc.

They are mysterious, captivating and the list goes on. That's how they are usually portrayed, but that's the appeal.

An last an no means least - there's the idea of living forever (immortality as it were). Everyone at some point, love's the idea of never growing old, & keeping their youthful appearence.

The way of life, the behaviour and stuff of a classic in books is just amazing.

The grace, the aristocracy, then the sudden lashing out beastness... pure poetry in life

Also the girls they have are always to die for :P

Oh yes, too true!!

I always like vampires, since I was a child. I watched a TV series, but I asked myself if it was just that...
ohj, just someone that likes to be 'a bad guy" for humans and it has to be pursuited by people who doensīt want the vamps to live...oh..no!! why do vamps have always to be the "bad guys"?
For me this never made sense...
I always wanted the vamp "to win" because I saw there a human...
And when I grew up I perceived: vamps=humans...

The great part of media always turns the things upside down: it exposes just a myth, not the way it can really occur, like a psy-vamp for example. The legends about vampires are always fascinating...strange creatures of the night always made mankind curious.

Vampires are symbols of human being questions about immortality and sexuality.
These two basic things make them so powerful and known...

A human with ADDED savagery?

And you desire this? This is why I think all those who continue to love me after seeing my dark side are insane...Would you want to feel like you could be snapped like a twig at a whim? And I don't mean just the strength to do it...killing is easily done...I mean the absence of remorse or interfering thought.

I've come so close...Even when seeking to protect someone I've caused great pain and fear....Because you can't understand what it is to be a creature able to be pure instinct...Just as you can't understand a Lion's mind..One minute docile and the next a simple instinctual responce to bring teeth and claws into action...Then docile once more.

Forget immortality..People are obcessed with it...You're all immortal till you die so stop thinking about it and start acting it.

I can not say why I like vampires because I dont even really get why Il ike them. I just do. I love everything about them.Something about them just makes me like them Although most people favor living forever i dont think that way but it would be nice to see how our world turns out.

NO.OF COURSE NOT... there are some misunderstandings here...
Maybe because the way I wrote... maybe not.

First of all I took much time to answer that because I wasnīt on the forum (didnīt have time for that) and then came back... And also, it took me time to back on this part of the forum, according to my interests on researches.
I talked about before, was about what I could see in vampires...until that moment.
I talked more about them as reference. It doesnīt mean that I act like that, that I wanna be like them or that I desire that to myself... To me are completely different subjects.

I just wrote what me made START to like the vampires... thatīs all.

NO, AGAIN. Itīs not possible. But itīs not and Iīm well that way. I just used this caractheristic as a reference, because people, in general talk about that...talk about life/ death. In every religion, every study of the occult youīll ind that. In every culture. Thatīs why...

Of course I assume this is all about the Holywood vamp . . . not the real Upir, yes?

I think they are discussing the romantic, fictional vampire. Is the real Upir a lovely rat-faced entity? :)
