i'm just curious what everyone went through in there time of awakening...
whitedestruction
Weakness, extreme thirst, nausia, headaches, sensitivity to sunlight and loud noises. However these symptoms come with other diseases as well.. However, awakening can vary from person to person, and some believe that it is merely the realization of what you are.. I am not a vampire myself, so I cant tell you anymore, however I am also very interested in what the vampires out there experienced in their awakenings.
SkItZoFrEnIx_PYRO
I also experienced weakness, nausea, and sensitivity to loud noises. Thirst and sensitivity to sunlight came about a month later, when these went away, though i would also like to know what others feel.
Dead^soul
I am Inherator so it is a little different..

Bloody dreams , lots of liquids , drinking up to about 7 - 10 liters a day , sight hurting during the day , hearing been excellent then going back to noramal , when i was in a area that was busy , the noise giving me headachs from all the noise , then also feeling sick during the day , light headed , been hot , never get cold enough , temp going through the roof, finally the skin getting sensative to the sun and body adjusting , teeth a bit sore , especially the top 4 (2 on each side , 2 down the bottom).
Diabolique
I have a dear friend who simply described personal awakening as the desire to fill a void...as if something were missing....she didnt ramble aimlessly about physical ailments, sensitivity to sunlight, or the miraculous sharpening of incisors...

Personally, I believe this to be the most realistic of decriptions...we are, after all, of human flesh and blood...reguardless of where we are mentally...

Vampirism isnt a Fucking Mental condition , it isnt something that we just decide that we want to be. It is our soul , it is our body , no matter what vamp you are , it isnt a fucking mental condition.....

Leave the vulgarities out of the site, Dead. While you're at it, remember that you're entitled to your opinion; something you stressed at me a short while ago. They're entitled to theirs as well, even if you do not agree with it.

To quote you, Dear Dead Soul; "it is our soul, our body"...would'nt the mind or anything related to the psyche fall into one of those classifications??....

To clarify myself, I was NOT claiming that Vampirism was a mental CONDITION ,entailing a psychotic, but it IS in fact a state of mind....perhaps you can be a bit more observant in the future....
Dead^soul
oo , i am sorry then, i get a little worked up when people start calling Vampirism a Mental Condition and that is what i though you were doing.

sorry

More surges of Adrenaline in blood.
Increased Mental awareness (like a natural high *LOL*)

sorrow was felt, emptiness, i was lucky to have someone who brought me through. He was my mentor for a great time, but is now lost to me. I again had the grace to find a spectacular woman who was with me through my roughest times. She was my guardian, helping me to stay level headed, and talked me thru countless evenings of endless questions. I still hold her close to me, reaching out to her when I need reassurance. The feelings are overwhelming, and need control as soon as possible. I believe I would have gone mad had I not had two very dear people in my life to guide me. I can now manage well on my own, though the thirst at times can be unbearing. I can sustain myself on the energies of others. Very select others, it takes a special being to exude the energies to fullfill me....or im just damn picky.
Khrymzynn
My type corresponds closely to "energy vamps", and is easily mistaken.
Besides, I want to get my posting stats up, and I'm hyper and nobody's in chat. ^_^
My first symptoms were massive enervation, nausea, and general run-down feelings. I had a headache that felt like it had actual weight, and it was really rough keeping myself together. Blurred vision and other stuff, as well.
Some other weird stuff, less easy to corroborate. I walked in my own static field until I fed the first time, sparks jumping off of every metal fixture, from my hair to my clothes, stuff like that. people complained about being cold in the room, got ill near me, blah blah blah.
The real surprise was that I could not center or ground, all my meditations were useless. I had a lot of practice at that before I got to be the way I am, and suddenly they didn't work. I've gotten past that, but it was awful at the time. Anyone else run into similar condition?
Elemental Vamp
i am an elemental energy vampire. i didn't discover what i was until my state started suffering sever drought. i felt i -needed- to be in the water. i was always tired, drained of energy. except when i was around people. then a friend of my slowly got me used to the idea of vampires (it would probably help for you to know that she knew what i was a year before i did) then pointed out that people started becoming less energetic around me. i started conducting heat a lot more than usual. my friends would tell me that even in the cold winter the air around me was warn "you radiate heat" is what they said. and i shocked people a lot more.

i didn't have a mentor i don't know any other vampires so i never learned to feed from people on purpose, just subconsciously. but i did realize that the energy of people is nothing compared to the energy of a storm.
Taiwo
Wouldn't ten litres of liquid drown you?
You'd certainly be up all night
Dead^soul
who knows , but dam you would feel pretty fucking good afterwards , dam , drinking 10 liters.....
touch of death
i first knew when i had a sudden urge to cut myself so that bood would come then i started dreaming and it felt like my soul was trying to tell my mind something and eventually i figured it out.......................

For me, it was collectively what whitedestruction, weeping_death and ~V~ said, more so with the the mental awareness and the weakness, but perhaps most of all, the extreme sorrow and need to fill a void. Ugh, it's not the nicest thing to go through, especially when you don't get any support, my girlfriend lives in a different continent to me, so even talking to her was hard, its good to have someone you can relate to during the realisation of your own vampirism, especially when that person is going through the same kind of thing themselves. My girlfriend has been showing vampiric tendencies for quite a while now, and probably to more an observational extent than mine have. I keeping having this nagging idea that she, from a spiritual sense, awakened me, I guess one could consider it a form of siring.

May I quote WaterBearer from an old post:

The whole idea of turning someone into a vampire by biting and drinking blood, originates in a serie of rabies outbreaks around the 1700's. The symptoms are surprisingly similar to the classical vampiric traits, and when a rabies victim bites someone else, this person will get infected with rabies too, and thus...'turned'.

awakening? Teenagers will do anything to get out of school.

I personally was born this way- just like the other 140,000 of us.
Final Ultima
Yeah, but you have to consider that even though many people who believe themselves to be vampires have always felt this way, with some it takes time. It's not a literal awakening, or the sudden arise of any new traits by any means, an 'awakening' is more the realisation of being a vampire, the only real change, is that one can act more upon their requirement for blood (or energy for psi), whereas when you're young, I guess one wouldn't really see it as much, and would not get a fair explanation as to their certain cravings, or would be just too naive to notice any difference. There are countless theories behind it, but who can necessarily say that any are wrong?
Creature Feature
I thought the chosen ones number 144,000, Upir. Oh, wait, that's the Jews, not the Vampires!

Anyways. What was it like during my awakening? Well, I'll tell you... and it aint pretty.

I was groggy. My eyes could barely open. After lying there for what seemed like an eternity, I decided to get up and go downstairs. I made a pot of coffee and opened a new pack of cigarettes. After reading a little of the paper, the coffee was done, so I got a mug. I fired up my workstation, checked my mail, and coded a little more on a project I am working on. Then I realized that I was coding in assembly on a C++ project, and drank more coffee.

Thus ended my awakening for today. I'll post again tomorrow about how it was to awaken.
Final Ultima
I'm actually pretty surprised that no-one had previous thought of putting that type of awakening down yet. Well, maybe some people did, but didn't act on it, but still, I find it pretty funny that no-one didn't make a remark like that earlier, good on ya creature_feature.

Muchas Gracias, man.

At times, I have quite the comedic side.
Final Ultima
It was funny because I wasn't really expecting anyone to try and be comical on a topic like this, or for that matter, a forum like this. Vampires, and especially the awakening of one's true nature, generally aren't the most comical of topics, unless it's about the classical vampires portrayed on television.
Creature Feature
Wait wait.... let's get something straight.

Vampires can be anything. Vampires can be the 40 year old lawyer in a suit, the grungy bastard living under a bridge, and/or anything else. Vampires can be comical or serious, depressed or ecstatic, and/or anything else. To be crude, they can have little tits, big dicks, and/or anything else. Vampires can be anything.

Just for the record. Vampires aren't "generally" anything... they are as varied as any other demographic.
Final Ultima
Oh, I don't mean vampires themselves being generally not the most comical of topics, but discussing about them generally not being comical. You have to admit, most discussions about real vampires in here are taken quite seriously. I'm quite aware that vampires can be anything. Sorry if I was being somewhat unclear.
Creature Feature
Hey, no prob. It was just a "for the record" statement, not a correction, debate, or flame of any sort.

I find many vampires to be comical... from the works of fiction and their twisted humor, to the offhanded comedy of many of our members. While you're quite right that topics of this nature are very personal and serious... well, to use cliche, there's no time like right now (for a joke).

Live. Laugh. Live longer. It's a good creed to live by.
Final Ultima
True, true. It's always good to laugh, especially out loud, unless of course it's directed towards someone who just said they had been diagnosed with some kind of disorder, or have just had a friend or family member die.

You know, surprisingly, it's a nice change having to make sure I speak a lot more accurately, I'm not used to being in a forum with people that are more intelluctual. It's nice going to a forum where there aren't a great deal of people that when reading anything remotely philosophical or clever, can only respond by saying 'My head hurts.'

Well anyway, back to awakenings, eh? (Of the vampiric kind, not the after sleeping kind!)

Im what you call a freak
I to have that sensitivity to loud noises, more like had it I was really young..kindergarden young not knowing what was wrong with me tore me to shreds and I sometimes expressed my anger by pulling my hair out.....my step dad didnt understand it and decided blast his stereo and holding me infront of it was funny (bastard) my mom soon divorced him
Its been more drawn out throughout my life, my awakening as of now im expierencing my "why the hell is it so bright out here" ordeal but this is new.....If found a taste for blood I was always more on the psi vamp side but.........dont know if others have expirienced this my tongue gets this chemical or metallic taste on it and changes colors (grey) i figure its vampire traits not sure yet unsure.gif
Lady_Demoness
i don't think i'm a vampire, but i've had similar things happen to me and even some more extreme's that i can't nor can doctors, parents, councilors, etc...
a few years ago i started having dreams...like of people suffering or getting hurt...and then it would happen.then, i started getting really bad head-aches and was having like day-dreams of that sort of stuff...and it would happen minutes later....i've been brought up in a house of wicca so i was brought up into "witchcraft" and occasionally do little harmless spells, and i didn't beleive untill they worked! they really worked, for me and for my friends that i would do one for. but also, i inhabbited this horible rage. it takes a lot to set me off, but when someone does, i basically black out and envision seriously hurting the person..when i come out of it, i'm clenched up really tight...nails digging into my palms so hard that i have blood dripping down my arms, and my teeth biting down so hard on my lip that it bleeds....and my entire body gets flushed with a sort of fever and starts turning really red in splotches.. i have really bad head aches all the time and get dizzy in direct sunlight, and can see 20 x's better in pitch black dark....i was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me if these are symptoms of a seer, or something. i can read people too...i can look at people and tell them their whole life story w/o them ever talking to me before...all sorts of stuff like that.
Lady_Demoness
maybe i should also mention how ever since i was able to crawl, everything i touch shocks me...i've tried humidifiers(sp) thinking maybe there wasn't enough moisture in the air, but nothing works. i don't drag my feet, so...when i wake up in the morning, before i even get out from under my covers, i reach for my stereo remote, and it shocks me so...i dunno

*coughs*I posted that*coughs*
Shadowvamp
I wasn't awakened. I was bitten.
Evil kitten
I was always weak, ill, exhausted and unhappy. At first i thought i wasn't get enough iron in my diet or just depressed. It wasn't until my sister informed me that i could be a Psychic Vampyre.

Really annoys me when humans question me. It's like asking them how can you prove you're human? But really that's a silly question to ask because there isn't much for them to prove. We're definitely more complex. And that isn't easy to explain.......

Does that really work? Isn't that only for classical vampires?
