ok well i was writting a story and vampires came up and well i was wondering about somethings so i thought i'd ask although they have probilie been asked before but still, ok:
1. what are only myths and what are actual facts about vampires?
2. How is a vampire turned (made)?
Eye Candy
1-the difference is in myths the facts seem somehow twisted up in a cobweb somehow...
2-a vampire is born with the "soul" a vampire and later finds that the person is a vampire by reviewing it's resources and facts (personality) about the vampire.
Hope this helps hun...these are my opinions so please don't be offended or base this one opinon on your belief.

I'd say the difference between reality and myth is simple.

Myths don't really exist, book stories turned into folkloric thoughts and there was borned vampirism, "real vampires" and such. I would define reality as just humans living in a vampiric style, that's all.

Some say a vampire is borne, others it is a human turned but who really knows with so much theories out there......

i guess i should rephrase the first question i didn't mean whats the difference between myth and fact i ment to sak what are some popular myths and what are some facts?

One has to remember that myths have some basis in fact. Also, they're often allegories of the human condition and experiences.

Myths about vampires, for instance, could be related to the underlying fears of death that is almost universal in world cultures, also of a possibility of life after death. They could also be construed as an attempt to explain consumption, or tuberculosis, a wasting away disease that has symptoms very similar to vampiric visitations.

As far as what is myth vs what is fact, this forum has a lot of content on the matter already, one that I do not wish to go into atm.

Hi bondage*babe*spike,

First of all welcome to Darkness. :)

I've always felt that in order to really separate fact from fiction we have to start back at the beginning and take a solid look at Vampires origins. We know so little and really we have few solid facts to help us to separate the truth from all the myths.

And now in modern day we have a new 'breed' of Vampires (or so it seems but chances are they've been around along time too we just have begun to give them names) such as Psychic / Energy Vampires.

This is a post from the FAQ section we're working on that may give you information about the Various ways one becomes a Vampire:

[2.05] How does one become a vampyre?

This is a link to the new FAQ section we're working on. I think you might find some interesting tid bits of information there too:

Here's another topic that may help or inspire your research for your writing further:

The first vampire....in the Bible?, Of all sources...

As for Myths... give me a bit to think about some legends etc that I've heard over the years and post them for you. Anyone else remember any myths / stories involving classical Vampires that might be an interesting to everyone?

:) Hope this helps a bit.

Edited to add:

Found this post here in the forum about Myths etc:
