it is my opinion that a vampires nature could well carry them on for a long time. Now wether you believe in the ricean approach that they remain in their original bodies all the time or that they are reincarnated in the bodys of others.. vampiric souls reincarnated like human ones can be said to be.... either way..
By nature they, from conversations i have had, seem to be passionate and intelligent even if they are dominant to the extreame....
it is with this in mind that i say, in my opinion, and i can neither prove nor disprove this, they would endure infinitely.. so long as their passions and lusts were dealt with.. and appeased.
Passion lives in every age
Lust has been since the dawn of creation...

For as long as possible.

So... I very much agree on that. Depends only on the vampire nature and strength to live on and on over the time.
Tho in Anne Rice's books covers that much, by writing about vampires who live thousands of years, and others who doesn't.
Anyway... that says pretty much what I wanted to.

it depends on there stability in the world. if they were confortedent then they could go on forever. some will make it others will not. it all depends on the indervidual.

when one is made or born a vamp he nor she can't choose the path of time.
You can only take turns on the weel of fortune an so how you live your life.
When time is everlasting on your side you can't say for how long,
the only thing you can say is the future is my history.

Forgive my ignorance on this... health issues? I would like to like about that, if the subject could be clarified.
I am assuming you want to know how long an immortal vamp would live..and i think it was said eariler that makes most sense,,basing it on the anna rice books...each vampire's age is determined by them..their strength , will and maker. When they say health issues they are refering to mortal vampires.. people who belive that they are vampires whether by lifestyle or bloodline . etc... which in sense goes for everyone ...live healthier live longer...i mean atleast in general i know some people who live like crap and live it seems forever...

oh but i did forget to add that if i were immortal i would live as long as i could prosper..i mean like i've said before I am the closest thing mortal you;ll find to the "BRAT PRINCE" so thinking like him ...I'd probely be around for a very long time....

My take on th question is that Blackeyes was asking how long would they want to live... not how long they would live.
I would assume it's all in the will. How much pain they've endured... if life still has meaning or hope to them. Have they continued to expolore life and grow or have they choosen to sit around in the dark... feed and do nothing?
I think this would determine a want to live or not. Even Vampires need a reason to live day after day and I think that reason to live would be as unique to them as to a human being.

Referring to immortal Vampires, you cannot answer this question without determining the personality and inner strength of the individual. One who is mortally linked with human culture would tend to exist as long as that link still exists, while one more detached must find another cause, or maybe be completely independant... but that is bordering on Godliness.
For a mortal Vampire, it is the same as with any mortal creature, although caring for one's body may involve different means.

According to myth undead vampires are imortal and can be around forever unless as Sanc stated "...its how long would they want to live... not how long they would live." and her explanation is clear enough.
As for living vampires, C'Thulu Dawn explained it close enough for we are mortal biengs, but I do know some that have lived well into thier 90's.

Or maybe because all those who claim to be vampires at the end are just vampiric lifestylers.
I myself think that an "inmortal" vampire would die when joy is gone of its life.
