Synethesia: Synethesia means "to perceive together" and is a condition in which a two senses are sensed at the same time, where one type of stimulation evokes the sensation of another, as when the hearing of a sound produces the visualization of a color.

I am synethetic. Especially when drinking blood. However, my synethesia extends to all sensations, especially music. For instance I am listening to Peter Murphy's Holy Smoke and would describe it as passionate, darly moving, tastes like smooth dark chocolate, and feels like brain tanned leather (if you haven't felt brain tanned leather you are missing a treat).

I know of a couple of sangs who are synesthic. Considering how rare synethesia is, this appears to be noticeable. Do vampires tend towards synethesia?

I am, thanks for that, I didn't even know there was a word for it. Mine comes from having Temporal Lobe Epilepsy in the past though, I don't attribute it to anything supernatural or vampiric. I used to get hallucinations accompnied by a weird taste in my mouth, and weird sensatons of touch. Interesting stuff! Hope more people respond.

Due to my nature I don't believe I have anything like epilepsy. In order to make this allegation (for I always cite my sources), I must ask you to check out my introductory post in the introductions forum. That being said, akyra does not have this while I do. She is MPD (muliple personality disorder) and none of her (other??) alters have it.

I am the only one. Thusly I have hypothesized that it might be because of my vampiric nature. Thinking further. Akyra and the Associates (her alters) are also vampiric and are not synethetic. Hmmmmmm.

You two describe synethesia. Perchance could it be influenced by your nature? I simply compile relevant data. And there are the 2 I know otherwise.

---------I do not attribute it to the supernatural for I do not believe in the supernatural. I believe that all things and beings are NATURAL, just that some are less known than others. A question of semantics perchance. As it being linked to vampirism...... this is theory of mine for which I am gathering information. Hence, posts like this.

I can say that I know this occurance well and its strongest in me with my sensation of smell, sound and touch.

I haven't delved into it too deeply to be honest, mainly because trying to recreate the experience, or merely allowing it when I first feel the signs 'The Aura' as it is medically known sends me into a fit - and although I have been free of them for about 12 years it was a pretty frightening and unpleasant experience for me. ALL my senses became disorganised - I would feel deja-vu, which would set off a taste in my mouth, which would set off strange sensations behind my ears, and then I would hallucinate. It felt like I was seeing what I was tasting, it would appear in a geometric pattern sometimes.

I can get a "feel" for what you are describing. Indeed different than what I encounter. Sounds like your synethesia is triggered by an external event. Mine is simply how my senses "work". It does not feel like a malfunction.

I would not change my synethesia for anything. I enjoy it too much. turns the music UP

I get it a bit with touch but not that strongly. Hearing and smell for me. Of course taste and smell are one by now. Almost one sense. And it is linked to another sense..... 'tis not of the five senses. I cannot describe it. Feeding is INTENSE for me. shudder

I can not speak but i can feel people comming before they are there.
Know when the doorbel is going of before it's going to ring.
It's not what you mean but in a diffend way it is beceause it's all about sences.
Like when i drink blood i can allmost see the day i changed to what i have become and what i smell i can taste.
I still do things others would not do like walk on ledges and stand still on high,
places where others can't see me it's fun.
Still i think it's a dark joke that i can't talk an still i'm a vampire.

To inflict pain to gain food is not fun it's a way off surfival but fun no i think not.
