Personally I don't like how simple minded and evil people had made dragons!
Rhuen
I personally like the uber freaky dragons out today, they add a new twist to an old favorite.
FrostDragooon
how?
Rhuen
The Dragon is the mother of all monsters, the oldest version of the monster in any record, that appears in multiple forms all around the world even in cultures that have no reptiles. But most of what people are familier with is a scaley fire breathing winged dragon or the Lung of the Orient. People have rehashed the old dragons forever, making them cuter, making the scarier, mixing and matching their powers. But until recently their was nothing history could have said was our ages dragons no dragons to mark as our contribution to the dragon But with Godzilla and others we can say that in this day and age we were the ones to give dragons Energy Beam Breaths, and even give them Cybernetic and technological powers.

The new Uber Dragons are this ages contribution to the image of the dragon.
Gothic Dragon
a very wise post
FrostDragooon
well [better not tell] can u guys keep a secret?
Gothic Dragon
i know i can

I think that dragons were always there because they were stated in the Bible... idk though... and I think that the main idea of a dragon came from the devil... since he was a serpant... and not like a snake or what not... cuz God took away his ability to walk and fly so then he was stuck with slithering and thats why I think that alot of dragons follow that whole scaley, long, snake like features... and what not... idk though... its just my weird thought process... and I have a habit in thinking of the bible to rationalize everything...
Gothic Dragon
i like that black rose in your signature, lilvega
FrostDragooon

sorry but dragons predate christianity and even Jewdiasm by a few thousand years. and occured simultaniously in cultures around the world with out christian influence "often as both benevelent beings and as monsters"
LilVega
Thx for the insight Rhuen. I always like to read the stuff you come up with. You are so full of intellect...
older-and-wiser
I must admit I'm a traditionalist when it comes to dragons. I used to play PnP d&d and dragons were loads of fun if your char survived you were well chuffed, not many exp's though.

Have you ever seen a film called Flight of the dragon (I think that's what it was called) it was a cartoon film but it was a really beautiful portrayal of dragons.

I love to draw them too. biggrin.gif

Flight of the Dragons

I found two, is this the one you mean?
Rhuen
the Dragon from the anime movie "Spirited Away"

older-and-wiser
A modern day man of science is magically snatched from the 20th century to battle a medieval wizard. Accompanied by a fiery dragon, an outlaw elf and a chivalrous knight, he sets out on a quest to capture the Red Crown that empowers the wicked sorcerer. Voices of Victor Buono, James Earl Jones, Harry Morgan, John Ritter and others.

thats the blurb, and no it's not the one above, I didn't find a pic, but there probably is one somewhere.

Anyway I loved that film when I was a kid (about 20 years ago *mumble mumble*)
and I think it would stand up pretty well today. :icon6:
older-and-wiser
oops I take that back that is the film, it's a long time ago since I last saw it.

It looked so much more grown up back then unsure.gif

Any way I would still love to see it again. :icon6:

its there thing, its short for monster, their names all apparently mean something even if they are misspelled and/or short for something else

Like Airdramon (Air Dragon Monster) ect..

Devidramon (Devil Dragon Monster) and so on like that.
Rhuen
Digimon

Paladin Imperialdramon

Burning Greymon

a note: the Grey is a mis-spelling short for Great Monster
Northern Star
IVe also noticed that (i dunno if u wrote it... 12 pages... WoW) dragons tend to combine with anything. farrie dragon, psuededragon, even parrot dragon....
drakes and wyrms are also draconic. every fiction creates its own properties and appearances to dragons.
also, about the chinese dragons, they are named differently at the chinese culture, yet the western cultures have translated that being into a dragon, because of the similarity.
so it was with naming the Komodo dragon. so i ask - is every powerful organism that have scalse called a dragon??

*reffer to the Might & Magic series for more dragon appearances/properties.*
Rhuen
No "sharks have scales, as do crocodiles"

although in English records a pet crocodile that escaped the tower of london to the country side and terrorised a village was written in the village records as a dragon.

So any thing strong with scales gets called a dragon by someone.
although the flying lizard and frilled lizard are also called dragons and lets not forget the Bearded dragon which is popular in pet stores.
Rhuen
Some real animals called dragons

Bearded Dragon

Komodo Dragon
FrostDragooon
i still think that they dis like being called that lol
Rhuen
Frilled Lizard also called a Frilled Dragon

Flying Lizard, also called Flying dragon

a few more million years of evolution and the false ribs begin to form flapping wings.

HAVE YOU PLAYED THIS GAME?
(ok silly question)
I LOVED IT! Ok it was not so great as final fantasy, but who can resist those fascinating dragon riders, and the power of the Winged (Lloyd, another sephiroths clone)
Rhuen
Yes, but the end annoyed me, I don't like being trapped in the last level of an RPG, one of bored days thing to do is go back to old RPGs and with my ultimate leveled up characters go through all the lands again slaughtering all the monsters especially those that at some point gave me trouble.

Also it had this nice Sci-Fi secret origen thing going on at the end but didn't fully reveal it.
Rhuen
Digimon "Dino-Dragons"

Growlmon

FrostDragooon
um growlmon has wings as ears there a dragon as wings as ears lol
