i was just wondering why ,all of you who say there is no such thing as vampires and that we are all wasting our time by posting here, are here. if you dont believe in vampires and you just want to make fun of us why dont you go away? no offense meant to anyone.

Seriously, what you are suggesting is the herd mentality. What should it matter to you whether I believe in vampires or not? I have no qualms with you believing in them. Now, if you are trying to put forth a coherent argument or you just assert that vampires exist and we should believe your word, then your 'word' is resting on your own authority and it contradicts most of modern science (depending on the type of vampires you are suggesting exist).

With that being the case, why should anyone just trust your word? Heck, even if I did believe in vampires, just trusting your word would no more make them real then it would make the earth suddenly flat.

However if you can put forth a convincing argument for vampires, then you will have a 'convert', and really, shouldn't we all be working for as much rationality as we can muster?

im not saying everyone should believe in us immjust saying that if you dont believe in vampires then why are you here since this is a vampire website.

No you're right, let's kick the people who don't believe those who claim to drink blood, kill people and claim to be hundreds of years old. Because they're just completely stupid. They're not a voice of reason amongst a sea of fantasies. I completely agree, boot them all.

Contrary to your belief, not all vampirism on this forum means people online claiming to kill, drink blood and defile corpses. There is a thing called mythology. Oh and fiction. And theoretical debate. Oh let's not forget ROLEPLAYING. Can't forget that one.

I'm a big fan of the vampire genre, in fact I indulge in creative writing and art that features vampires and vampiric lore.
And I don't believe in what one calls the Classical Vampire, although I know for a fact there are those who live the lifestyle.
Why do I have to justify my presence on this site?

Besides, this isn't just a site about vampires anymore...it's a blooming online community, filled with people who have actually come to know each other and hang out.

Anyone can be here if they want to. This is what's called a "forum" or "message board" on what is called a "website". If you want to claim your a blood-sucker, anyone else can claim that a vampire is something from a book.

Let everyone have their opinions.

It is fun to debate the differences and maybe learn something in the process. I love vampires and especially erotic vampire movies and stories.

I don't believe in mythical vampires and I don't practice bloodletting but I've enjoyed vampires for well over twenty years. I enjoy vampire movies and books but I also enjoy studying the vampire mythology.
If people choose to live the vampire lifestyle then more power to them... as long as they take the necessary percautions to keep themselves and their partners safe.
And besides just because something may not exist doesn't mean people can't enjoy it or study it. Look at the thousands of people who take mythology courses in university. Greek, Roman, Norse and other myths may not be real but they are a part of history and give you a glimps of what past cultures were like.

Yeah, you're right there... sometimes people can be rather rude. I think what it is is that people tend to get caught up in the whole abiltiy to remain annonimus and forget that they are talking to other people who also have emotions and feelings...

Whether or not any of us believe in vampires (or any such Night Creature) is irrellevant. Whether or not we can DISCUSS our beliefs rationally and respectfully is. I don't have the right to tell you not to dress in Victorian/Goth clothing and wear fake fangs and go threaten your Significant Other(s). No more than you have the right to tell me to put away my whips and canes and knives and become June Cleaver 2005. It just ain't gonna work, folks.

I happen to NOT believe in Night Creatures. But I write about them, read about them, go to see movies made about them, and occationally my husband goes Were on me and growls and howls alot, all in good fun. I very much enjoy that. So why do I get the right to say NO MORE BELIEVING IN UNREAL CREATURES! Oh, yeah...just get all Jerry Fallwell on your ass. The point is, I don't. None of us do.

But I can still be here, spouting off, and getting on the occational soap box. This is, my dear, a public forum. I won't make fun of you, if you don't mock my disbelief.

Think about it, just say i was a typical people hating sceptic, what more of a perfect place to rebel. they would think..god im so hard core going against all these so called vampires because i dont believe in them and im gona piss them off, however when u think about it, inorder to believe they're rebeling they have to believe there is some danger in what they're doing. so if i was like that, of course id be here trying to piss you all off..but im not..if i was it would be just as cool

Ok that was a little harsh i apoligise really, but i just stumbled on this website and i couldnt believe what i was reading, some of what you guys are saying sounds alot like buffy, but thats all good, who am i to say vamps and demons dont exsist i have never seen any but im probably not looking hard enough

I think it is interesting to read the various arguments on both sides of the question. Both sides offer good points. But the one fact remains, vampires are indeed real and they do exist. Do a search for vampires on the internet and you will find many such stories.

To go deeper into this question would only take us to a grey area. For example, do vampires exist as they do in the movies? Probably not in the same way, but there are many versions and books written about vampires. And where did all these stories come from? Are the writers vampires? How did they come up with such tales?

Does blood turn you on? Does that make one a vampire? Many people do drink blood. Are they vampires? I think to varying degrees, they are all vampires.

To some people vampires are in a way roll models, romantic fantasies, monsters, aliens from another planet, a way of life, to you name it. Vampires do exist.

The people who disbelieve are the same ones who never met one and cannot imagine one. They may be protecting themselves from the fear they may feel if they believed in vampires.

Look at the UFO issue. Most people who believe in UFO's are those who actually seen one. To any non-believer, they will just say you are nuts. You on the other hand know what you saw, but have no way to convince the non-believer. I say why even waste your time. Some people are closed minded, and nothing you can say will convince them otherwise.

My name is Piper. You say that you are a vampire, and i pray and fear that what you say is true. I have always been a religious person, until a new friend I had made tried to 'feed' off of me. I do not believe in vampires or anything else concerning anything of that nature. I'm not even sure if I still do...I am very confused. I was bitten, and I have 'fed' on a man i know. I could not control myself. What is happening to me is real. It seems as though I was trapped in a tunnel and could not find my way out, and when i opened my eyes, I man was laying in front of me. I am not sure what to do. I need help. I don't know whether to go to the police, or not. I know that they will say I am crazy and I will be put in jail for life for taking that innocent man's life. I know that's what I would do to me if I was the police. Something is happening to me. I don't know whether God is punishing me or what He is telling me. I can't show my face around church, I drive past it and I hear a loud ringing in my ears. I need to know if what is happening is real. I can't find the guy that bit me, I was lucky enough to get away. It seems as though my i was on some kind of drug at the time. Help me, write back asap...i can't 'feed' again.
