I am just someone interseted in "vampires". and to be honest want to know everything i can about them because some people think that it would be a curse to be one but i think it wouldn't. I have a fear of dieing and not being concious(sP). I really would like to live forever but i don't know if "vampires" living for ever is a true fact.
I just really want to learn to make up my mind, as of now , after reading everything the peoplr have posted in experience i'm not sure weither i want to be one. I'm leaning more towards the wanting but i'm not sure.

Physical immortality is non-existant. The very very few here who actualy are what they say don't bring up everything else that comes along with the vampire package.

Just read what its said here. Vampire or modern vampires are not immortal. Vampirism is the dease or dark gift.... Vampires is just a term we use because it kind of fits are discription yet people still can't get over the myth boundary. You will see people here who have no idea what they are talking about to those who actually do. So just read what you can and if you have questions just ask.

"Vampirism is the dease or dark gift" COuld you tell me some about the dease. Like what does it consist of. I want to understand more about it before i get myself into something that i mgith regret later in life

Well this is just my opinion from research and everything... To me vampirism is a form of mental disorder. Everybody hears that and things retard or some sterio typical term... However a mental disorder is something that effects everyday. Vampirism effects everyone everyday from what the norm is.
The common traits is ussually insomnia, anemia, depression, anxiety disorders and so on... You will never know a vampire unless they tell you but some can get sun poisining... Burnt and never tanned... Always pale... Some have normal eye color others may have green... Some can be albino. And so on.
As for psychic abilities... Yes some have that including me to a limit extent. However thats more debatable though.

You say vampirism is a mental disorder.
But shouldn`t that be called something else ?
Yes you might say that people are stuck on the myth. But isn`t that
the definition of a vampire ? The so called -"myth".
( you know : having supernatural strenght, ect. ect ect.).
And isn`t this what most people are revering to when directing questions to
real vampires ?
Yes I do believe that
real vampires exist, but in a very smaller
percentige that we`re led to believe.
The problem is : someone comes on this site, with a mental disorder
( like you called it), believing they`re vampires, and tell every one that
they are indeed a real vampire, beeing actually not ( reverring to the
quistioner`s believe`s).
I hope this makes sense.

Well it depends how the word vampire is used... Yes it will be called something diffrent if it was discovered as a mental disorder (and people don't freak out and say I don't have a mental disorder... Its not always what you think). If people truely have vampirism as what is studied over the years then they probably are just as human as anyone else only abnormal compared to what is "normal" in society. Basic psychology will teach you that it is hard to decide what is normal and what is abnormal... Thats why its hard to find true cases of psychological disorders.
Since vampirism is still in the research and theory process it does not have the backing of psychologist insept for a few here and there.
As for the other part people who truely have vampirism will not say they are a vampire... Maybe online as to identify themselves... Thats the whole point of coming here. But in the real world they know they are human. They know if they get hit by a car they can die... I don't know if I am talking about everyone but to me thats how I feel. I feel human (I think) only I also feel diffrent. My mind is sett that I have vampirism and I do acknowledge it but I do not know how to cure it nor do I want to.
Vampires however evolved into a subculture... We all can see that... And allot of which follows up on the myth. Everyone of us here knows that the myth is alloring... And is probably based on actual facts. Most myths and legends have a bases of truth. The first vampires were not exactly blood suckers in Europe. So allot of which is still being researched on and its an educated theory based on psychological studies and mythical studies.

I am not all wrong... Its still an on going fight to tell people what vampirism really is. If you know what it is grive your opinion. I am not totelly off and I barely wrote the accpects of what it is... Its still on on going search for the truth. Its not yet set in stone.
You guys still missing the point... Awww.. Never mind vampirism and being called a vampire is diffrent. We should not be called 'vampires' that probably be the wrong term to use but it is used... More like a fad I gues. Something to enlighten peoples thoughts to the possiblity... Just like calling Proferia (sp?) the "Vampire" deases. Its the same type of deal.
People who are "vampires" are called that because of the common traits... Not because they are walking corpse.

.Vampire or modern vampires are not immortal. .
People, people please calm down.
I`m not saing you are completly wrong Peg. I understand what you mean.
But what I mean is this : go look in a dictionary the word vampire up.
What does it say ? ( now this may differ from dict. to dict. ,) But basicly
it refers to -what you guys call the myth of a vamp-.
That`s the definition of the word 'vampire' is it not ?
Now if you have some case (I don`t know, a sickness, or a genetig mutation, or mentall disorder, or whatever), that gives you some cateristics that could be related with vampirism, I just don`t think it gives you the right to call yourself a vampire. Understand ?
Coz basicly the definition of the word means something else.
Okay Peg. Why I quote`ed the ubove is to ask you this : Do you then believe that oldfashioned vampires was immortal, and modern ones isn`t ? Coz that`s what`s basicly written there.
And isn`t this a example of what I say ubove ?
Please, anyone feel free to jion in.

Yeah see what other people think... I have a wierd opinion.
You maybe right about calling 'us' vampires... Its probably the most unpolitical term every used however we don't always live a political society.
Eveyrone classifies vampirism as a "dark" gift... Or something diffrent in an individual.... People have a diffrence in opinion on the subject. What is declared in the dictionary has nothing to do with what modern vampirism is....
Anyway in the dictionary is says these three definitions...
1. A reanimated corpse that is believed to rise from the grave at night to suck the blood of sleeping people. (the mythical and most common term)
2.A person, such as an extortionist, who preys upon others. (it says person not walking corpse... This refers to people who drink blood and prey on others... That can refer to psys and sangs easily)
3. A vampire bat. (we all know that one.
So you really need to read the dictionary closely.. There is more then one definition.

That`s precisely my point : The vampire of a thousand years ago have changed so much in your eyes to what it is today, you say.
But isn`t that wrong ? I`ve read a couple of threats were it`s stated that vampires live very long ( normally ), so how could they have changed so much ?
That`s what I mean when I say that what some people today believe a vampire is (from your point of vew ), isn`t correct.

Well from what is stated in myth... They changed rapidly over the years. What is in myth is just the fictional relation to what is true. Its like Santa Claus I gues you may say... Yes he is a myth however the idea came from an actual saint named St. Nick. Its kind of the same deal... I gues thats the best way to explain it.
As for living long... Like how long? Everybody ages and dies in diffrent years. Some can live beyond 100. If they say they live long its possible but almost all humans have the potential to live long lives.

golly kids we are not have the fight over what a vamp really is compared to myths are we. fine, then any person here who dares to call them selves a vampire is either a liar or sick. nothing would want to be a vampire according to myth, they are the undead, the walking rot. you see when a myth vamp dies the first time, he doesnt stop rotting, at least in europian myth, cause i doubt any one here could handle other places stories, they are strange. now while youa re wlking around rotting, you dont have fangs, in fact you dont drink blood, you rip chucks of flesh from your victims, to gourge yourself on, animals hate you and you stink. so no, no one here is a vamp, the unfortunate thing is that the myth changed in the latter 20th century, now vamps are stronger, faster, tougher, and generally better than man. so which myth are we talking about again?

Im not a mental disorder. You trying to say my entire family for all generations, including our closest friends are nothing but humans with a fucked up mind?
And we don't call ourselves Vampire- where did you get that from? That is what humans call us. Do you think aliens who live on say, Saturn for arguments sake, would call that planet Saturn? No they would have a different term for it, same way they would not say we are from Earth. But in order to communicate you need to find a commonground. You understand best when we say Vampire. You would understand less if we said Upir or Fampo. Yes they are similar words..but not derivitives as you all seem to think. And so what if the words are similar? Does that make it less of a word?
The whole turning thing...where did that come from? I think that was Bram Stokers fault, or maybe something to do with reanimated corpses or something...not sure. But the only way to make a vampire is to have sex with another vampire and your baby will be a vampire. That is all. Drinking my blood will not mutate you no matter what you wish.
And living for a long time? Dunno..tortoises and parrots live for a long time, why dont you ask to be turned into one of them?

I never said anything about turning into vampires... I believe you are born a "vampire" or with the "gift". As for the mental disorder thing.... I am not saying that it is a mental disorder but it is a possibility. Thats why I said it was my opinion based on facts... Of course there is other possibilities and I am not going to leave them out.
Being called a "vampire" probably is the most unpollitical term like I said before but it is used.
Don't take offense to it... It is inherrited and so is many other types of things.

Have the strangest disorder..cus thats not how the human body works?? Um...well no it wouldn't would it cus a Vampire isn't Human, so thats not how it goes...you cant compare two completely different things and argue them against eachother. Why doesn't anyone ever argue, why isn't a Vampire like a dog? I don't get it..very weird.

Jan 28 2003, 03:15 PM
Vampires are human, they just have a different body composition, or I'm ASSUMING they do if blood is required to sustain them. And mental disorders don't kill a person if what they "feed" on is taken away, with vampires, they will die if they do not feed. Vampires are a branch of the human species, I don't understand why some would consider themselves another species, they haven't evolved far enough into their own branch to be considered another species of their own.
And I'm not insulting you Upir, research shows that in a couple of centuries, assuming the human race survives that long, "races" of mankind will be their own species b/c of the environment they adapted too will change them to survive. So I guess you could say ppl will accept you better in a couple 100yrs, lovely eh? You get accepted when humans themselves change as a whole. Then again, thats assuming ppl stay in one spot their entire lives, along with their families. Thats a big IF.

I never said i drink blood! I cannot even say i didnt had any thoughts about it! I once did it, it wasnt bad, but i can live without it because I am only a half vampire! But even 100% vampires can survive without it! Why do they drink blood then? I may presume that would be your next question.
Well you see blood Vampires gives a rush, and they go bersek after drinking it because it contains extra energy! If ofcourse the victim vas a well fed human being!

You guys got soo far off the topic. I have heard so many different things about "vampires" its not even funny. I wanted to know the fact from fiction from "VAMPIRE" or what ever you would like to call them. I want to know the ups and the downs. I never wanted to know the difference between humans and vampires. but what they can and cannot do. liek do you really fly( although i know you don't that was and example) and can you transform in to a bat(once again i know that is not ture). Now blood suckin i don't but if you all keep going at it like this i may never know the answer.
I want to know the truth. THe facts from the fiction. None of the Steven King shit . The hard honest Truth.

Yep to many... In which most I agree with but I am to logical for my own good.
Cassie... People have opinions based on fact (I hope in some cases). Its very hard to tell you a straight answer. Listen to what other say and see what you think. If you do not like the answers then search online or find books. I know there is a few books that talk about modern vampirism out there. Not sure the names though.
Upir there is a huge diffrence... However vampires are human not actually demon... Unless you go into other cultures (talking about the myth). Bascly a vampire is a walking corpse... Humaniod in some ways. But then other myths do say they are demon. So it varies between diffrent cultures and species.
SaintSinner only knows a little on the facts and never experienced what a "vampire" is or what vampirism is. There is probably is more then one form of blood letting or vampirism in this world. Just a matter of sorting things out and discovering the truth.

All I know is from what is said here is that people believe in immortality and in mortality... People believe vampires are another species or just a human with a gift. Its a matter of what is said and everything said here from what I hope is based on research and knowledge.
