are vampires at all related to gothic people
Puppet_116
in my personal experience i have to say no, i have seen and known some people that live the vampire life style that are doctors lawyers, and business men and women who are not what the masses would consider "gothic"
anarch
Theres no real link between vampires and goths. Its just that some (most?) vampires adopt the gothic lifestyle..
Azriela
The relation comes from what people percieve vampires to be; this person who dresses in al black and has a dark persona. People who claim to be goth dress or try to dress a certain way (the "vampric dark way") though I am convinced that being gothic like being a vampire is a state of mind and a life style.

Anarch; what makes you think that vampires adopt a gothic lifestyle?

^That is what i was trying to say..SOME vampires dress gothic and relate to the gothic lifestyle, therefore people assume them to be closely related (which of course would be wrong).

Some people who consider themselves to be gothic; adopt the so called vampiric lifestyle; it really can go either way and can be shown using any two pathways.

NOT AT ALL! I am very glad you asked this question, because it is a common misconception that vampirism is related to being "gothic". The term "gothic" of course does not mean what it once did, now one might be considered a goth for simply wearing a lot of black or writing dark poetry. I think that the majority of "gothic" teenagers like to relate themselves to vampires, but absolutely not the other way around. The two often go together because often times, those who live the vampiric lifestyle have a sort of dark, possibly morbid mentality. I tend to wear a lot of black just because I like the look and style, and I do have a dark way of thinking, but by no means consider myself a goth.

Another thing I would like to point out is that people often associate being goth or vampirism with depression. I would like to correct this by saying that speaking as a modern vampire who people on the street might consider goth, I am the happiest person I know, and I think that this is true for most true vampires. Vampirism to me is the ability to live life to the fullest and enjoy it; a mindset that puts us, in a sense, above regular people by allowing us the ability to achieve happiness through knowledge and simplicity.

Agreements? Disagreements? I would like to read your feedback, everyone with an opinion tell me what you think.

well, by most of today's teenage standards, i'm considered goth and I have a fascination with vampires... but that doesn't mean it's always true. it also doesn't mean that all vampires are gothic either.

vampires are the definiton of goth culture, or thats what the society nowadays says,

almost all goth people try to dress as a classical hollywood vampire would and viewed from that point one can see that vamps and goths influence each other very much

but inr eality there is not much incommon with the two, some vamps also play with the goths and some goths play with vamps but mostly they don't even meet

Wow, I need to tell that to my parents. Anyways...

Being "gothic" does not necsiserily mean that one a vampire, or visa versa. I'm the most eclectic person I know, and just looking at the ways teens define being a vampire or goth, I'm not even entrily sure what say. I know many goths who are nothing like vampires, as well as countless vampires who wouldn't seem at all what they really are. I think of the gothic lifestyle as being a dark mentality and a fashion (in a way). Vampires don't have to be negative, dark, etc. although some just choose to be (thanks, Hollywood). I'm a vampire-witch and countless people would have no idea unless I've told them (which is one person, considering that I live in an evil, stereotyping neighborhood with extremely prejuduce people).

HOw do you guys define being gothic or a vampire? :icon9:
LilVega
Being a vampire has nothing to do with being a goth. I know goths that are not vampires. I also know alot of posers that are goth. It is the way society has made vampires look that we seem like we have to be goth or depressed and stuff. I do not dress like a goth. I dress how I am comfy, or so I look good. You do not need to be a goth to be a vampire and versa visa.

NO!
Vampires are just like anyone else trying to grt on with their lives
now one or two vamps might be goths but definately not all vamps are goths

Oooo, I want to live in Gothic Town! Anyways, I've definitly met vampyrs who were very gothic, but both don't go hand in hand. I also know many vampires that just "blend in", and you couldn't pick them out as a vampyr if you tried. It just depends on random stuff, and what you would consider a vampyr.
nameless one
i like the "blend in" thing,
but i dress in alot of black...
not to say i'm goth,
i think goth are cool, but not all vamps r goth...?
so:
vamp can sometimes = goth and
goth sometimes = vamp

:icon11: i dont think it is goth at all it does not have nothing to do with vampires its a trendy style for teenagers and its all a fashion show . on the other hand if you like to wear black its your color and you like graveyards just because its peaceful does not mean your goth, when you meet a person that are goth in style wise they are usually teenagers and dont at all know the meaning of true gothic . it is a simple lifestyle nothing to do with the style of clothes its the way you hold yourself and carry your personality.

I think that it is ignorant and narrow-minded to believe that being a goth is being a vampire and vice versa.
On the other hand, I've found that having got into 'alternative' music and clothing, I'm gradually progressing into a more gothic style as I get a bit older. As I'm doing this, for some reason I'm getting more interested and more drawn into the 'vampire' myths and way of life. I have recently become extremely interested in blood letting/ blood drinking ((As well as other things associated with 'goth' chains and such)), but only with my boyfriend ((Love..)).
Although I don't believe that a vampire is a goth or a goth is a vampire, I do think it's linked and perhaps, a gothic lifestyle leads some people into the vampiric.

Just an opinion... my 15 year old opinion. I was 'normal' ((Well, whatever the masses percieve as normal)) about two years ago and I'm rapidly becoming.. wel, myself, I suppose.

I'm not usually this insightful...

at leaset you are honest and i have nothing against either i think if you want to be what you are comfortable with then do it.
