For as long as I can remember, I have had a strange sense shoot thoughout my body, particualarily my mind, whenever I enter a room or area filled with old things. When I say old things, I mean albums full of memories, a lot of book from years past, such as a deserted section of a library, the room of an old widow or widower, certain antiquity stores, and anything else you can think of that holds long forgotten things. I don't know exactly how to word this... then again, I've never been good at wording things. But whenever I enter places like this, this sensation just shoots through me, and I can barely concentrate, sometime holding my temples and falling to the ground, wanting it to stop. Is there anyone here who has had this happen to them? Or is something else going on? ... or am I just looney?...

I have something similar, I think, except for me it is a feeling of great sadness. Maybe it's simply because the time is gone and can never be again. I cannot live in or relax in a new house. I belong to the past and always have done, although it doesn't cause me as much pain as it does for you.

I think there are some people, including yourself, who are able to read and feel the past greatly. It would be a surprise if it didn't overwhelm you from time to time.

I eperience something similar to what you've described but to a different degree. When I set foot into an old house, barn/building, or land I see a brief bit of it's history as if reliving it. Though this only lasts for seconds the sensations it causes have a very real and very lingering effect on the body and mind.

The last one was this past year while walking through town. Somehow I stepped into a place I had been many times before yet saw a different time in it's history than the one I saw before. It was still a bloody scene but very much real for the few moments I glimpsed it.

And as NightVision said I feel very uncomfortable in new homes and buildings. They simply seem too empty for me. I prefer places that have stood up to time and won for the little while they have been around.

There really ought to be a name for this: retropathy? Retrosensitivity? although retro means 'backwards' rather than 'the past'....hmmm good thinking exercise.

You are on the right track NightVision. I think that it is a "blend" of clairvoyance and retrocognition. I too have experienced this and would love to be able to have some control over it.

I agree NV and I'm looking it up as we speak. I know seeing events of a future nature is called foresight or precognition but not sure what this is called exactly, I do know it's common though to those with "psychic" gifts.

And I found it.........this is retrocognition.
