I would like to read more information on Lilith. What I'm trying to find at the moment is the most accurate meaning of her name. There are 3 meanings I've found and all seem to fit her personality, but yet everyone seems to argue that one is more right than the others and this confuses me. If anyone could clear this up for me, i would appreciate it.

The meaning I've heard is "screaming owl". According to legend, she'd steal children and kill them, to revenge the loss of her own offspring?? Her trademark would be high-pitched owl-like screams as she swooped down on her victims.

'Children Of The Night' by Tony Thorne has information regarding Lilith, and it is generally a very good book, it is a research into the history of vampirism.
For those interested the ISBN no. is: 0-575-40272-5

Well, I've got some information on some of those, and some helpful references for a lot of them. feel free to ask ^_^.
"Lilith":Lilith is goddess of the moon in modern wicca. She is also the Owl goddess of sex and eroticism. Its no wonder she's so popular. The earliest representation of Lilith was found in Summerian temple carvings and statues kas the bird goddess of the wind. There are now various rituals that can be added to daily rituals to appease her, which wuoldn't be a bad idea, seeing as she could give you some good times(*wink**wink*)
"King Soloman": King Soloman was master of the art of Evocation. It was said that he had over 100 talismans of spirits ready at his command. The grimorium of The Lesser Key Of Soloman has most of the signs, comands, and names of the spirits that he commanded.
"Enochan": Enochian is a language founded by an English scholar and his former thief assistant (who, interestingly enough, got his ears cut off as punishment by queen Elizabeth.) It is a particularly powerful magical language and is used in such rituals as the Tower Ritual, a well known protective spell, along with the Various Pentagram and Hexagram rituals, and the Rose cross ritual.
I hopped this helped! I'll try making topics on these subjects and see there success.

What is Gnosticism: As noted, Gnosticism has been defined as a mystical religion (Ellwood and Partin: 96). It is a mixing of rites and myths from a variety of religious traditions, combining Occultism, Oriental Mysticism, astrology, magic, elements from Jewish tradition, Christian views of redemption, and even aspects of Plato's doctrine that man is not at home in the bodily realm (McManners: 26). Despite the fact that many Gnostic systems vary, they all have in common "a world view shaped by Hellenism and Neoplatism" and "esoteric Judaism, Zoroastrianism, and the ancient heritages of Egypt and Mesopotamia."(Ellwood and Partin: 92) One can directly trace some of the individual aspects of Gnosticism to their roots. Their beliefs in the resurrection of the dead and dualism come from Iranian-Zoroastrian religious ideas (Rudolph: 282). Their communities are organized like the Hellenistic Mystery religions (Rudolph: 285). Orphism and Greek background influenced the Gnostic belief that the soul suffers in this world and it is fate that man should have to endure it. In turn, living a righteous life leads to salvation (Rudolph: 286).

There is some good information here, some not so good information here. I must admit, hearing Lilith as the Goddess of anything Wicca gave me a good chuckle. I hadn't heard that yet, though I don't much dwell in this odd New Age / New Wicca stuff. Lilith is said to be the mother of all demons, basically... If someone wants to use the name and archetype for other business... What ever makes them happy.
Lilith is also thought, mistakenly so, to be the mother of Vampires; in some vampire communities.
As I'll always say- I wasn't there (in this life) back when all of this is reputed to happen, so I can't verify anything more than the next guy. This is just my two cents; what I've been able to piece together and what makes sense to me.
The problem with the Internet and the big movement in publishing New Age materials, is all of the misinformation. (Or Disinformation if you're G.W. Bush... but that's another story.) People can make things up, or honestly get something confused... People see it in print and assume it must be true.
Taking this along with me, I'm going to parallel another thought from a post I'd read in this thread... Why do you need only one name? Only the right name? Are we all so arrogant to think that such a being is going to be as offended as Mrs Jones down the street if you get their name "wrong?" I doubt it. If you get their name wrong, it's a moot point. The "right" name for a "higher" being is the name that works best for you, so that you can identify with and create a stronger connection.
God, Jesus Christ, Allah, Budda, Mohammed, Goddess, Zeus, The Is, The Force- you name it. Do you really think these are at all different? Aside from the stories and personifications created by different peoples in different times... You know, the shallow things that make no matter anyway that everyone's always so hung up on... It's just a different word or a different path to get to the same place.

Lilith supposedly was the "earth" made flesh. The true Equal to Adam, she would not submit to him so she was cast out of Eden into the Land of Nod. This is why Eve was constructed from Adam's rib, being made from him she would inherently obey.

For those who want to know more about the Priory Of Sion, I've just put up a thread about it.
http://forum.darkness.com/index.php?showtopic=29096 Not trying to gloat or anything, it's just I haven't seen a good post on the Priory for a while, and many of you will have undoubtedly read the Da Vinci Code by DAn Brown, you might want to find out more. I'm also in the process of gathering inforamtion for a thread on the scientific research and some philosohical arguments into the possibility of life after death, most of the ones I can see at the moment aren't very in depth, I'd really like to see a well thought out debate on this forum. If you have information regarding the Priory or life after death experiments or something along those lines, PM or email me. Thanks.

Though I am not myself religious, I have a deep interest in religions of all kinds. One that I've never had explained to me to my satisfaction is Hinduism. I'd like to know to what extent its practitioners take the various dieties at face value, or if they're considered more of a mascot (sorry, couldn't think of a more appropriate term) or a focal point to compound an idea.
I've tried asking random Hindus to explain some of this, but never really got a response, so if you know anything about a particular god or goddess, please make a thread!

Mary magdalena and knights of the templar can be traced religiously and fictonaly... I dont think anyone can say that this or that is correct..
I know the knights in the old country had a certain belief in what they were doing.. but i also know there was raiding perties from europe under christianity as a cover..Mary.. i have heard a story about a whore.. that would be biblical always dramatizing.. and another about mary as a daughter of a merchant or something.. apparently she and jesus shacked up and made a cozy family.. with offspring trying to be bigshots like politicians go figure..

'Actually, I'd like to hear more about the Nephilim. I've read online about them and have tried to find more info on them but keep running into poopy. Call it research'
The Merovingian Bloodline: The Merovingian bloodline is the supposed bloodline of Jesus, and some sources claim it also contains the blood of the devil. It is sometimes called ‘The Thirteenth Satanic (or Illuminati) Bloodline’, which seems odd as is it more commonly associated with Jesus than it is Satan.
However, some people claim the bloodline comes from the Nephilim (otherwise known as ‘The Fallen Angels’, the Annodoti (Greek), the Annunaki (Sumerian), the Tuatha de Danaan (Celtic Lore) and in other texts (the Torah, Talmud, Old Testament and other Apocryphal texts like The Book Of Enoch (which I have a copy of) they are known as ‘The Sons Of God’, The Nephilim or The Watchers). They are the creatures that apparently founded civilisation of mankind. For more information on the Merovingian bloodline relating to the Nephilim, go to:

Oohhh... I saw the bit about the Merovingian blood line and the connection with Atlantis (possibly). I am a bit excited about reading this. A psychic told me that I was first incarnated on earth at Atlantis II, but that I originally came for the Pleiades star system. This psychic didn't just tell me that sort of stuff, he also told me things that I had not told anyone else and he was just so accurate about things that I could prove about myself, but were not well known. Perhaps I am "demon kind"... Interesting thought there....

Hello NecroGhostz
What is your interest in Runes and linguistics? I too am interested in these things and would love to share what little I know about these topics. I rely on the use of the Runes for wisdom and inspiration, not to mention some sort of guidance from the spirit world. As for linguistics, I am absolutely in love with language and love reading about where the origins of certain terms come from, etc. I am pretty sure there is a thread about Runes somewhere on this site, however.
