story idea, vampires and temps. how cold could a vamp sustain without injury or problems ? thought about what if a vamp decided to either go dormant as some beleive or write about could he suspend himself in cold ? i am talking cold where holy water doesn't work or the cross is way to cold to touch and even on the extreme end where the stakes are so cold they shatter ? again just an idea and would love to hear your feedback.
Awake In Death
Well the temperatures within our world range with wide variety. A vampire may have to work his way up an immunity, but he has the time to do so. If a human can become immune to something due to exposure, a Vampire can with slightly more ease.
The amount pain we feel when we are cut, or fall, or anything at all, depends directly, on our willpower. How much can we resist within our own minds? People who are exposed to climates in Northern Siberia regularly, would feel that as the normal temperature, as we would feel our own temperatures as normal. So really all a vampire would have to do is adapt, & more often than not, he/she WILL adapt. Especially because their willpower would tend to be more powerful than a human's. I could go on but I don't have time...i'll keep this topic under watch.

Well, like a human vampires are mammal but, since they are not totally human. They must have they own ways so, their body temperatures might adapt quicker or could substain temperatures.
Crypt Keeper
vampires can withstand cold temp. It's the heat that we can't stand

:icon9:  vampires can stand any weather they come across, they adapt just like humans,no matter what they`ll surrvive, through anything?
cat goddess
:icon9:  thats my personal opinion,from experience
Ravager
Well, I don't see the relation between vampires and cold...

I mean if they're alkmost dead, why would they care about cold....
cat goddess
:icon9:  they wouldnt care they couldn`t feel the cold?
Ravager
I mean, are those sarcasms?

Well, I also think I'm not getting this, cold as a dicease or cold refering to temperature...

But temperature would make them suffer, though, they wouldn't get sick...or injured...

my thoughts are cold as temperature whether natural or produced. just an idea that it would make a great hideout in a very cold area becaue the pesky huimna would either not be able to get there or would have lots of troubles. in the literary fashion of vampires I am thinking that extreme cold would cause some type of breakdown on the skin. Esp dead flesh assuming that it is the way that you guys look at this. Again just watning soem different opinions and takes on this cu it helps to feel out a story when it is not just my crappy opinion all the time ! many thank yous to those who have already shared ! :punk:

Ravager I think the cold they are referring to here is temperature.

As for the question; Fictional Immortals only have a problem with the heat (extreme heat as in "I'm right next to the fire and its scorching my skin" heat) and are known to retreat into the cold (for reference; Anne Rice's "Blood and Gold" . .Thorne was in the artic for his long sleep) so I would think that Immortals wouldn't mind the cold.

As for modern vampires; it depends on the individual;some like it hot some like it cold . . I like it colder, not to the extreme but cold none the less.

i pefer the cold it is much better then the summer but i live in minnasota and it get pretty cold here so it relly is a thing in the mind all vampires will not always adapt some have stayed in one place for so long they themselves if they move to a hotter climent there skin would feel it harshly like a rash

the fact of cold or heat is not of importance?if you like cold go for that move to alaska and oif you like heat good for you. but by far don't most like cold?
