My Dying Bride are a doom metal act from Yorkshire. They were formed in the 90s along with the "Big Three" [Paradise Lost and Anathema] Their music is characterized by grinding 90 odd minute tracks and riddled with sensual lyrics throughout. Paying obsessive attention to atmospheric detail, each song places you in a certain emotion. While their first handful of albums were classical death, the guitars were turned down real low and went damned slow, and they chucked in a couple of violin carts. Like Gods of the Sun is still their best work, i think. Though, the dreadful hours are still a lot darker. Go out and download kids and get a taste of real Goth music, and not this Manson shit, haha.

If there is a band that more accurately defines the term 'Doom' metal, I'm looking forward to hearing them.

What's your standpoint on 34.788%... Complete?, its definetly an anomalous album and sits differently between fans, but I like it rather alot, especially the first track.

You also might want to check out a band called Mourning Beloveth. I wrote a brief description of them a while ago here *click*

Mourning Beloveth? I'll have to check them out. And as for that piles of percentiles deal, well, hell. Every one gets an art fart now and then. I chalk it up to too much drugs, or lack there of anyways. Its just an alien, experimental sound. I'm glad they went back to the old stuff though, I don't care what critics say. Damned if you do, damned if you don't more like.

Funny you should say that actually, I think of aliens when I listen to that first track. When it goes into that dreamy mellow part with samples of Aaron saying stuff in reply to that wierd garbled alien sounding talk, which then plays back Aarons comment but all warped and fucked up, as if it were being experimented with.

I haven't listened to the CD in a while actually, so I think i'll take a rain check on agreeing/disagreeing for now.
