I discovered this band after they'd released the "Draconian times" album and they were more or less instrumental in getting me back to listening to heavy music again after a period where I had moved on to other genres.

Then the next album "One second" they do a comple turn and introduce synths, and by the next one "Host" they sound more like Depeche Mode wannabes.

Meanwhile I'm digging out their old albums and finding that they used to be real growly in the old days. But I never found anything that made me feel quite like the first listening to "Draconian times".

How about the rest of you. Anybody listen to them? what do you think of their many changes in style?
Vex
As long as they do what makes them happy. That's cool enough I suppose. I don't tend to complain too much when a band of one stle goes another way, I've still got plenty from that style to listen to.

Go any suggestion then for "Draconian times" fans for other bands to listen to in the same genre?

Guess to me it's mostly a problem if the change comes wihtout any prior warning. Had the same problem with Metallica suddenly going soft with Load/Reload.

But in the end I kinda end up adjusting to the change :4:

I don't honestly have much in the way of Doom, but My Dying Bride would be a good choice.

Yeah, I tried to listen to them around the same time, but never hit it off with them in the same way. They're just a tiny bit too depressed for me ... it's a fine line and hard to define what makes the difference really.

But thanx anyway :4:

I tried "Alternative 4", but it never hit me in the same way that PL did. Did I just get the wrong one or is that one a good indication of what they do?
Vex
You should try some Acid Bath, they were pretty good. (Not exactly the same sound, but same genre, so similar)

I suggest Dead Girl, or Scream of the Butterfly
INQUISITIONWOLF
Well i suggest the three first albums From Anathema
Crestfallen,Serenades, Pentecostes III

Those three albums are depressive doom metal, everyone who listen to those albums must not have a knife or anything that can harm.
Very suicidal albums also made with gutural voices... and very sick guitarsss

Paradise lost is one of the first doom bands
Cris la Dark
i liked paradise lost in gothic and reflection
