Would you join a group of vampires, doesnt have to be a bad group, more like a group of normal people who just happen to be vampires.
Would you Join if you knew they were vampires? Would you leave if you found out?

I don't join formal posses,
I am a freelancer
but I don't see how the fact they are vampires changes anything about hanging out with them....

I would not join for the acclaim . . I would because they were intelligent, funny, hardworking and other qualities that I look for in friends.
I wouldn't join a group because I'm not good with people . .I'm too honest and we would become bitter enemies . . story of my high school life.
I would have vampire friends . .not a group. More beings=more drama

as I said,
why would that be a difference?
I'd hang with anyone if he/she would seem like good company

I read in a journal not long ago that the most recent permutations of vampire myth in the media have all taken the form of "gang vampires." The example used was Deacon Frost's group in the first "Blade" movie. Do you think we're heading for a gang-based vampire archetype?
The Morbid Darkness
Oct 27 2004, 09:39 AM
that may be...... Underworld anyone?
but books like Anne Rice the vamp chronicles also dispell that dont they?
maybe if the media keeps the "vampire gang" theme up, it just might become a major archetype

i think the vampire myth evolves depending on the era in which it is set or written.
Vampires in the victorian era were seen as socialite upper class who preyed on the frivolous attentions of weak minded women, who may have dared to show their ankle/.
Anne rices vampires crossed the intellectual boundries but nearly all were still from wel bred families or well off families. they did deal with the psycology of immortality more.
Poppy z brites vampire novel approached it as a 'traveller/loner' image dealing with abuse and abandonment, and also the genetic evolution/ scienctific approach.
I think once you look at the era things are written both in and about, the vampire myth is approached with what is prevelant inthe society's way of thinking at the time.
People worry about gang culture at the moment quite heavily, so then factoring inthe vampire myth seems to make it a cohearent adaptation...
underworld, although it had a futuristic feel about it, was basically about a war... war being prevalant in the news constantly these past few years...
not very concise an answer but i think you get my meaning

Join? : Yes. If they were people I could get along with, like my friends. The blood drinking does not deter me. In fact, I like a little blood myself, now and again.
Already there? : I'd stay. If they are already my friends why would I leave them? I do not abandon anyone lightly.

i agree completely with Vicereine..... the stereotype of vampires depends on the era and also the author...........
it all depends on what we read, see, watch and hear..........

Well, leaving apart vampire gang described in books...
I said it before but near my place I have to deal with this "I'm a vampire" guys, they are dumb, they drug themselves and steal the tires of all the cars they see...
Most of the gangs that consider themselves as vampire ones are just bad people thinking they are darky...

It would probably be me who either started it after a few people started to tag along or I would be one of the original group of friends or something like that before anyone else started to concider it a gang/group/posse
The Morbid Darkness

but i thing the idea of a gang is actually very feeble and shows a lack of courage.... not all gangs, mind you....
but most gangs are just people who a afraid as one, and come together to terrorise other people, because in a group, they feel powerful....
if they were really all together for love or friendship... then it shouldnt be a gang would it? just my thoughts....
and no, i wouldnt join

been thinking about this one some more and i have to say i honestly dont know if i would join a vampire gang.. a vampire coven.. most definatly. Now correct me if i'm wrong but the idea behind gangs is that it is obvious to those who see them what gang they are in... i.e. certain gangs where a blue bandana etc...
now i think that not only is this impractical for a vampire gang it is downright deadly.. i thought the purpose of vampirism was to remain virtually unknown apart from those like you or who you have predetermined trustworthy of knowing the truth.
However, a vampire coven I would join. Covens by nature are secretive in the sense that they mainly meet in secret etc and there is a nurturing attitude to the fledglings and new comers.
So would i join a vampire gang.. most definatly not
WOuld i join a vampire coven... most definatly so
The Morbid Darkness
Nov 3 2004, 03:23 AM
well, that is the common definition..........
and i agree....
a coven is seen as more secretive and more.... lets just say appropriate....
i agree totally with vicereine

I wouldn't join either a gang/posses/etc or a coven. I'm old enough to expect respect and thus I don't take orders well. Especially from young idiots that don't know wtf their talking about. I simply can't be bothered with fools.

I have always believed that vampires are for the most part, loners. I guess some could band together to form a group but I couldn't do that........ I'd get irritated with people telling me that certain things I believe in are hoakey.

I suppose I'm sort of already a member of one of these groups, though we don't actually call ourselves vampires. I think the term vampire is reserved for the fictional immortal vamps that we all love so much. I sort of brought the whole group together, and we feed off each other, and spend much of our time discussing pretty much every thread you'll find in this forum. However, I wouldn't really call us an official clan or cult or anything like that, we are all pretty independent, just some people with similar interests.
If I were offered the opportunity to join an official vampire cult, I'm not so sure, since I know that some can be very demanding, and don't allow much freedom. I like being pretty independent, yet knowing that there are people with similar interests, who I can feed off and be fed off of by. So no, unless I had reason to trust the people, and believed that I wouldn't regret it, I don't think I would.

*bows most respectfully to all*
If I may,
In 27 years I have ne'er come across a "Vampyre gang"... but that is in my own country. There art many here howe'er. There is a large representation o' the "Gothic" and affiliated sub-cultures as well. O'er the years many have mixed well and frequently but not to the point o' forming gangs/posse's or clubs.
Covens - aye, there art those. Mostly along the lines M'lady Vicereine drew. I have ne'er felt the need to "belong"
I am what the "gamers" refer to as an 'Anarch' - I have no allegiances.
Would I join a gang o' vampyres? Nay
Would I join a coven o' vampyres? Nay
Would I leave a gang if I found they were 'vampyres'? Since I would not have joined in the first place I suggest this answer would be irrelevant.
Respectfully,

It all depends on what kind of people they are.I wouldnt hang out with because their vampires.I would hang out with them because i like to hang out with them.It should not matter if ther vampires or human. It would be cool to actully see a vampire gang, and how they would do things.

join some kind of group just because they are vampires? It sounds like what people do in high school. You want to be noticed, so you get into cool people's group.
I'd rather hang out with people who can have intellectual conversations with me. And if they can have one with me, I certainly will not mind.
