Sometimes you encounter an album that makes you just sit back and think to yourself..."Now that was an excellent piece of work."

Albums like this renew my faith in people's ability to make excellent music.

What albums are there for you?
Grim_Faerie
I think 'Once' by Nighwish is an excellent example of this.

When I first listened to it I did think to myself, this is a really good album. Although I have loved every album they have made, this one stands out to me and I think it reflects the tonnes of effort which must have gone into it. There is not one single song on there which has left me feeling like it could be better. :icon6:
Vex
One that really does it for me is Fear Factory's Demanufacture Album, everytime I listen to that album I can't help but think how great a piece of work it is.

Another is Death's "The Sound of Perseverance"

and a third has to be Metallica's "Ride the Lightning"
Fail
Tool's "Lateralus" was definantly a work of art when it came out and still inspires and leaves me captivated.

Godspeed's F# A# really impacted me and was probably one of their greatest records.

I'm sure I could think of tons more but I'm still half a sleep and I gotta go to work.
Sakatha
Lateralus is idd a fine piece of art.
A Perfect Circle's 'Mer Du noms', After Forever's 'Invisible Circles' and Lacuna Coil's 'Unleashed Memories' are also incredible to me.

Great album in the sense of "Great to break in half and slit peoples throats with the broken pieces with" :p
__Schisima__
Mental roadkill your list was awesome.

Oh and for you, bahamut,

"Pumpkin Made of Flesh" by Linkin Park

Why did it have to end this way? (this waaaay)
How much will I have to pay? (have to paaaay)
To disregard this feeling of loneliness,
Inside of me, filling me, hollowing me out,
Like a pumpkin made of flesh.

Now you're gone,
And I'm all alone with this pain,
It's got me full of pain,
And I'm going to do it this time (thiiiiiss tiiiiiime)!

NO MORE CRYING! THE TEARS ARE ALL I HAVE!

I gave you all of me,
And you turned me upside down,
You put your evil inside of me,
In this pool of tears I will drown!

Why did it have to end this way? (this waaaay)
How much will I have to pay? (have to paaaay)
To disregard this feeling of loneliness,
Inside of me, filling me, hollowing me out,
Like a pumpkin made of flesh.

I am surrounded by this futility,
I wish I had never been born,
This useless striving and trying,
Has got me crying and worn.
You dig your nails in,
Innnnnn to my brain,
And you turn my brain,
Into a giant ball of pain.

NO MORE CRYING! THE TEARS ARE ALL I HAVE!

THIS TIME THIS TIME THIS TIME IT'S OVERRRRRRRR!

Fucking Linkin Park. Haven't heard the song so I can't comment on it itself, but I don't like the lyrics at all.
__Schisima__
Haha sometimes I think Linkin Park writes their lyrics just for people like me to piss all over in message boards.
__Schisima__
Now that I think about it, the style in which Linkin Park writes is beautiful because it literally requires no talent at all. In fact:

The Nails They Drive by Linkin Park (See if you can pick up the sarcasm boys and girls)

All the pain inside is pulling me,
Stretching me, I'm changing,
And oh how I hate my angsty teenage life!
If I could I'd stab myself, WITH A KNIFE!

Rapper guy that can only rap in two beats and for the rest of the song just stands there like an idiot:
It's hurting me inside and sometimes I lie,
I can twist the pain inside and the nails they drive,
Drive into me! Make me bleed!
Bleeding away from you!

And I lock my door and I paint my nails black,
Because I hate you!
I HAAATEEE YOOOUUUUUUUUUU!

Confidence is drained and I'm all alone,
Maybe I have no friends cause I listen to linkin park,
Or maybe it's cause I'm so different from you mom and dad!

*Guitarist tries to solo by plucking three notes at an adament pace*

And you're angering me because you can't see,
I'm so different! I'm like an animal! And I listen to Linkin Park!
There's something inside me that eats away at me,
(At this point I realize every Linkin Park verse is written in the first person so that twelve year olds with issues can relate)
And what's eating away at me is your cancer!
OHHHH YOUR CANCER!

Well I just wrote my first Linkin Park song, now where's my fucking million dollar record deal?

I'm gonna ruin any integrity I gained from my list by saying.. I actually like Linkin Park, even though I realise ALL of their obvious flaws.... unsure.gif

Understandable and acceptable...I just fuckin hate them :D
__Schisima__
Linkin Park is manufactured emotion, to put it simple, that's why I hate them so. There is not a single shred of reality or meaning to anything they say or do.
Vex
I'd also like to add

Mindless Self Indulgence- Frankenstein Girls (Forgot the whole name)
