I was wondering if anybody had any information on color schemes in dreams. (I'm too lazy to look it up right now, and thought it might make for an interesting topic.)
Mine are usually shades of oranges, golds, and yellows. Those dreams are usually without violence or tremendous fear.
The dreams that are violent, though, often seem to have brilliant shades of yellows, blues, reds and greens.
Any thoughts?

I found a site about colour in dreams, but I think it depends on the nature of the dreams, and the situations you face in reality.
But here it is. Hope it helps! :) I'll try and find something else as well...

Most of mine are color. Rarely black and white. Occaisonally just darkness (black) where I can only hear and feel but see nothing else.
Some of the color ones are what you might call "vivid color". It is hard to explain but things are more defined than they are in normal life. For example, in one in particular I was at a place that had many small hills, and the vivid green of the grass just kind of blew me away -- enough that I actually remembered it then. Antoher time I was somewhere else which I thought was in England and I was amazed at the way the trees were as I was looking towards a forest. Hard to describe, just a sense of awe. Like the color is so "great" and meaningful that it is as if feeling radiates off of it more than usual. Not like anything I have seen in real life that I can recall- only a few places down here have came somewhat close.
The one with the vivid green above turned extremely violent in the later sequences (this one was the first) so perhaps you are on to something there. But most of the vividness I have seems to be with blues and greens, to which I can't overall place a correlation with violence with all of these at all.

I know what you mean about colour being over-whelming sometimes... They can be soo bright, or so meaningful, all at once. I tend to remember colour dreams a lot clearer too...

There there ... don't be lonely. I must say that mine are very lifelike too most of the time. But I have had a couple of dreams that had more of a movie-like quality to them, like I was in that movie and I found that the lighting and the colors were slithgly different. Not a theme though - perhaps the director of my dreams aren't into that, just like you have some RL directors who are very forcused on colors and some who aren't.

The colors in my dreams aren't that significant either. I dream in color, but usually normal, everyday shades...I can only remember one part of a dream off the top of my head, where I saw a lawn, with the greenest grass I had ever seen. It was radiant.
But I was sent off to the astral plane in a dream once, the first time I actually got up there, when I found the house that is my entrance. And everything was bright white, furniture, people, objects, everything. No colors anywhere.

Oh, I get them where colours aren't significant, but I get them where they are too!

oh great, I am not alone :D
but I do ahve to confess, there are some cholor schemes,
like when I dream WW1 or WW2 there is mostly gray, but thats probably coz of the smoke :D
so it still is lifelike, mostly I only know I'm in a dream coz I suddenly realise that this stuff has no possibility of being real :)

I had a nightmare this afternoon (or daymare if you wish) that was odd. When I woke up, although I remember the entire dream in sequence quite well, still, the only thing that truly stood out were the colours.
There was a bright blue at the beginning of it. After that, the entire dream went to muted shades of greys and geens....much like the colours of the matrix movie, or of US money.
There was one exception. There was a spot of orange that I was throwing around.

I had a nasty dream last night about me and my friend in biology communicating with Spirits... they etched something on a table and I translated as it was in Theban.. And one colour that really stood out was red! I have a lot of dreams with Red, like blood red, and sometimes dark pinky red...
Any recurring colours for you?

Dreams seem to be very personal and very changable. It is sometimes best to leave interperatation to the dreamer...they know what they felt. Was having an implant a horror or a cool experience. When you are surrounded by red and black, how do you feel creepy or soothed? It's a dream by dream, feel by feel thing....
