We are obviously interested in the vampire. There are various definitions of what a vampire is, and various traits of the vampire that attract us for one reason or another. So think back if you can, to where it began for you.

For me, it was the exciting mystery and power of the hollywood vampire as a young child. My mom had always been interested in horror, and exposed me to this as something we could both do together and hang out. I have another post here somewhere about the regular tv shows in the Detroit area that I would watch as a kid too. Sir Graves Ghastly and the "Groovy" Ghoul were huge influences for me.

If others share, I'll continue and tell more of my experiences with the vampire and how they have changed.

I think I first heard of a vampire when I was arround 3-4yrs old and immediately I was hooked, ofcourse those were the hollywood ones :D

I dunno, I've always been into vampires and the occult, since I can remember...

What it was that began it i can't remember, It started back in college (aus y11-y12) the people i was with, we were young gothics and from that it grew. Always loved a good vampire movie and i like now how the movies portray the struggle they have in life to survive rather then their eminse power.I think theres a little vampire in everyone it's just those that embrase it that find out where it can go...

i first found out about vampires from my first boyfriend,who was very interested(and still is) in them.then i read about them,saw movies whit them and now surf the web to find out more.they haven't changed my life much,but i find them very...how should i say....interesting. :cofpap:

I will forever blame my fascination of vampires to two things:

1. Hammer Films. Growing up in the late 70s and early 80s I was fascinated by Christopher Lee as Dracula and Peter Cushing as Van Helsing, locked in eternal combat through the centuries. And I know I had my first awareness of sexuality from seeing all those voluptuous vampire brides and victims, lmao.

2. Richard Matheson's I Am Legend. To me, the greatest vampire story of all time, and subsequently influenced all my thoughts and ideas on what vampires are all about.

I always had dreams about vampires, since i was a kid, i loved those dreams, and i love the idea of vampires, the imortality, the blood...everything

I've loved Vampires ever since I can remember. I love the way they can do mostly whatever they want when ever they want. I find vampires very appealing. Everything about them draws me to them. Everything about them is fascinating.

I just enjoy their life...

Walking all the time, learning new things, drinking blood, being a rebel...

All the things I've always wanted to do...

and Vlad the impaler..... i have always been interested in history, and the myth of vlad was one of the first actualy books i read, crazy, i know...

and i always loved blood................ since a baby.......

Well I wasn't really interested with vampires...

Until I joined this forum...

This place changed a lot of me...

My interest in vampires was created in this forum, even now there are some htreads that make me think a lot...

And others create new questions...

I can't rightly remember when it first started for me. I've always had a fascination with vampires, I can't remember a time when I wasn't obsessed with them. I think it may have been because they are so alluring and beautiful and deadly and everything we crave secretly. I personally am seduced every time I see Gary Oldman play Dracula in the 1992 version.

The vampire is a creature (for me) that can't be ignored. It's just so powerful, so unearthly, so sexual; they play on our desires for what we truly want. I feel whenever I see a gorgeous actor play a vampire I just want to give in to their power just to have my needs fufilled, my most carnal thoughts come out to play

I think they wouldn't be as alluring if they actually existed. But it was these things associated with the vampire that had me hooked from the start.

I agree with you darkangel. Those are my reasons too. But I still wish I could find a live one :)

i am interested in vampires from the philosophical point of veiw and the human mortality point of view...

without giving my life story, if is proficient to say I lived with terminal illness in my family from the age of 10..so was aware of the mortal coil from a very early age.

I am a writer and a poet (unpublished) and I love books, old libraries are a fantasy of mine *people run away screaming*

The philosopical stand point comes from my instense frustration at not having enough time to emmerse my self in what i want to do.. life and obligations get in the way.... i like to play around with the idea that one could have the scope of eternity to ponder the petals on a flower or how raindrops fall...

I seem to spend my life rushing from one place to another and have very little time to sit and absorb.... but then you way the cons of watching those you love die.. that fact that your emotional responses and feelings would evolve and that you would probably go through madness and survive to be sane again... would you really want to know your mind that well?

...ok rambling now, but those are the main reasons...oh and the fact that a good vampire book is like porn for me! ;)

oh my god i love that book... and yes i love the story and the twist in the tail..so to speak..wont go into to much detail for those who havent read it yet

have you ever tryed reading a vampire porn book... ohhhhhh, those are great. hot blooded is a really good one, it has four stories in it
