No one knew the exact year, all we knew is it had been a long time since “the war” had ended. No one alive today remembers the actual war, just the stories that had been passed down from our grand parents, to our parents, and eventually to us. Those stories were all we had left, stories that told about society at its absolute apex, and the Hell that rained down soon after…

The story goes something like this…

There had been a war waging in the Middle East for quite some time. We don’t know the specifics or who launched first, all we know is that once the bombs started falling entire cities disappeared, they hit New York first and followed with others, but what they didn’t count on was the missiles we had on standby for this very occasion. Of course it didn’t do much good because as soon as we launched, every other nation in the now God forsaken world did the same… Russia took out the entire UK along with most of Europe, but not before China erased Australia from the face of the Earth. South America’s nuclear arsenal “which was believed to be non-existent” leveled most of Asia but not before Europe’s missiles managed to take out most everything in the Southern Hemisphere… What wasn’t instantly incinerated had the fallout to deal with, and to die that way was much worse than the pleasure of evaporation. They say the world burned that day, just like the Bible said it would… The apocalypse had come and the world was dead…

The first known survivors tried finding a way to make contact with the outside world, but found it to be impossible. There was no longer a phone system, hard-line or cellular, the Internet no longer existed and there was no way to gain control of the remaining satellites that still circled the globe. The world had just been thrown three thousand years back in the past and all anyone could do was scavenge for whatever they could find…

To add to this the remaining few also had the sun to deal with, it turned out the bombs had nearly destroyed the ozone layer. To be in direct sunlight was dangerous to say the least. The sun now caused severe burning of the skin and cancer was becoming the new epidemic. In order to cope with the sun the surviving people became nocturnal. They rarely ventured out during the day unless it was of the utmost importance. Since there weren’t any suitable structures to be inhabited they turned to a source of natural protection. Caves became the new cities; they provided protection from the sun and afforded a suitable environment. There were no fallout issues to deal with and in some caves there was a source of pure water, something that was always in high demand.

Not having enough water was in direct competition with the sun for which killed more people. The bombs had contaminated the waterways and finding a fresh source was crucial. Again this was another benefit to the caves. Not all caves contain a spring but some do, and the ones that did were lifesavers. With a source of fresh water and a shelter from the sun the people were once again given a second chance, however horrid it may have been.

After some time people began to congregate to the two main caves systems between the Dead Zones. Imagine an oval shaped piece of land roughly three hundred square miles and you have what is today known as New Eden. This is the place the bombs missed. The Dead Zones are the areas where the fallout is still at a level that could kill with radiation poisoning within a few hours. These were the areas closest to where the bombs fell. Life on the other side of the Dead Zones is unknown to the people because anyone who ventured into them was never heard from again.

There were two main groups inside of New Eden. To the North was the House of Armadal and to the South was the House of Tribourne, which were named after their founders, and had been at war since their founding. The ever-present need for water kept them at odds and neither was willing to submit to the rule of the other. For the past four hundred years there was a standing order in both houses; kill the other on site, no exception to the rule…

The only thing the houses had in common was the need to eliminate the Scavengers. These were the outlaws that refused to join either house. Their goal in life is to live free and take what they want; taking what they want by force is a prerequisite. They show mercy to no one, they are a horde that threatens to eradicate what life has been spared, and given the chance they will consume every recourse that remains… Scavengers live in bands of about ten people, they will attack anything they come in contact with and steal what possessions they find. They live by no code and have no honor whatsoever.

So far we have...

no cyborgs.
no vehicles.
no sex.
no superpowers.
crude weapons and some very old firearms.
slight mutations. "people can see in the dark, some animal mutations"


Now lets get into specifics and detail exactly what's what... And start coming up with character bios... I guess I will be in charge of the house of Armadal if that's ok with everyone...

We should wait for Swan and Ann to pick their characters first since Ann's Ann and Swan helped out with the plot.

Hey Aaron, is there going to be any order to getting characters, like assigning (not specifics of course, just assigning like positions) or is it just going to be first come first serve?

As discussed in the other thread, I will take on the role of Aaron's wife. I've started on her character bio, but I have a few things I need to work on.

Just for shits -n- giggles heres a little about her....

Her name is Jordon Armadal, 21 years of age, a small petite woman with green eyes and brown hair. Due to lack of sun, her skin is a flawless ivory that sometimes looks translucent. Was a rebell as a teenager and ventured outside the cave and found artifacts burried that had not been destroyed by the Great War. She is fiesty and full of energy. Oh... and she's also 7 months pregnant with their first baby.

I was going to come up with my house hierarchy tonight and let people be whoever they want, I figured Ann would probably be in charge of the other house and do the same but she is at work right now so I was going to wait till tonight before I started anything...


If you have read every post in the other thread then I don't see why not, make sure you know everything we have discussed because if you break character I'll have to boot ya... I can't really say yes because Ann has final authority on who gets to join...

Okay, gotcha. Do you need to know how many of us are there, Aaron?

I already said Ann has the final say on who gets to join in my last post, this doesn't bode well for you being able to pay attention...

**Just a quit note to those posting character bios... we are looking at a time frame 400 years after the war, so it would be kind of hard to be a first generation decendent after the war. Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but that was what we were going for. Also, please review the type of weapons that we have in use. A semi-automatic gun is a bit much for this timeframe.**

Crimson and I are discussing some sort of spy/messenger character for me, it'll allow me to 'drop out' of play once in a while if my workload here gets too high for me to follow the game. I'm a slow poster... Before we finalise, how does that idea work out?

I like the idea Clear, and you're right, it won't be such a big deal if you are gone for a few days, you can just state that you were on a mission and then report when you can post again. Nice job!

I'm so insecure about this...I've only tried online rp once, two years ago, and at least then nobody knew me well enough to expect much. So bear over with me here...hehe.

I'm sure you'll do just fine. One word of advice... don't become so overwhelmed by it that when it comes your turn to post you get anxious and delay your reply. Remember that this is to be fun, although we are serious about wanting to make a good story and kind of revive RP back to what it used to be, it should still be fun and you should look forward to making your next post, not dreading it. :)

Hmm.... I'm not sure yet, but I was thinking about a guy who's quite nihilistic and apathic. Rather desillusioned. And he'd probably be a scavenger out of need, as he wont join any of the two houses. Could it do? I mean... there must be plenty of that kind around anyway, thinking about the setting and the history.

Honestly, I think that would be the perfect role for you. ;) And don't take it the wrong way.

sure go for it... a loner... anyway Aaron, Swan anybody... i've counted 18 fuckin people WHOOT who want to be in this thing... and 18 is an even number whoot whoot... anyway i was thinking about cutting the number in half and throwin people blindly and some what equally into each house..... so i know that Aaron and swan are in that one house HAH i need to read the names again -.- and then i was just gonna place everyone else randomly into each house..... through PM :) and make sure everyone who said they want in is still in.... Honey... why not say that there are 7 main characters in each house and 2 scavengers? That would make up our 18 people. Rather than randomly select... why not leave it at a first come first serve basis. I think that only fair. I have seen a couple state that they wish to be in the House of Armadal... so, reread what has been posted and then leave it on a first come/first serve basis. What do you think?

See the thing about that Swan was when i started a wolf rp i had to deal with two main packs... and it was first come first serve... well it happened that there was only 3 people in one pack and 7 in the other -.- it was such a pain in the fuckin ass... its SO much easier just to place people places.. and of course u and Aaron and Swan are already in Armadal.... So bleh and i'll listen to Clear's idea and such but my plan is fool proof and i've already started to send PMs -.-"
