Let's say there's no human blood in the house, is there something to substitute this? (you know, beef, chicken...)
Draquilas
Possibly a large cup of grape juice, try the topics.
Lelio
There's no substitute for blood! If there's none in the house step outside.

I just got reminded why I don't frequent this forum that much anymore.

but let's give this a good answer. Pets that wander nearby. (raccons maybe?) Also, yeah, letting steaks drip their blood out would work. Worse comes to worse, I suggest just laying down in your coffin and waiting it out if you can't go outside because of the sun/angry peasants/whatever.
Liod
Try raw liver. It's full of blood.
Hamato
ya liver and anything with iron in it blood has lots of iron.
negruinimă
Yeh liver, but its difficult to eat raw so puree it and drink the goodness

I am going to call attention to the topic, blood substitutes, not a good title if you are simply going to chat aqbout were to get it from. Substitutes gives the idea of something that can be, hmm, lets see here 'SUBSTITUTED' and for some reason I'm not finding grape juice to be in my mind a substitute for blood. There was however a book I read recently, though I cannot quite remember the title, where the devil offered a young man a powder to mix and drink that gave him his strength, invulnerability, etc... however, the devil then changed the powder so that the man became dependant upon blood next to the powder that the man would mix with water each night. Which makes one wonder if perhaps there is some sort of mix of elements etc.. that could sustain a vampire without the need of blood. This however is just a thought. As far as there not being blood in the house, guess you are sol until the next night. Question now, while a vampire can consume human foods, they do nothing for them, so why would they have them in their house? SOmeone want to answer that one. Yes, perhaps if they sometimes intise a mortal into their home to entertain before feeding, that may be one possibility.
Azriela
eating human food satisfies the humanity of the vampire that remains, the human food isn't for the sangiunarious it is for the man. Psi vampires can sustain themselves with energy but they need to eat human food as well. I believe that they hunger for both.

p.s. try tomato juice w/ carrot juice as a substitute for blood.
Deadly Sacrifice
I don't agree that veggies and fruits substitute blood...
Liod
People's opinions will always differ. And with all the different vampre mythoses and legends, we have no way of determining what the ultimate blood substitute will be. It all depends on what excactly that particular version of the vampire needs the substitute to do.

I would strongly advice keeping an open mind towards all theories and opinions here, after all, that's all there is, theories and opinions. No facts.
madnessreinz
if you have the need to feed and you cant at the moment....you can try orange juice, tomato juice, chocolate, fresh beef...this will only sustain the cravings for a short time..I do not sugest feeding from yourself as you will lose energy. There is no substitute for blood although there are some who are able to feed from psi energy and still be satisfied.
darksephiroth
well im new to this forum but id have to agree that you cant really sustitute blood....not really...i mean you could try but it would probably end up in failure.
Kath
emotions, sex, touch, conversation, eye contact, etc. etc. etc. a soul a day keeps the doctor away :P

um, milk in general. (breastmilk especially)

rare steak?

Kath
darksephiroth
rae steak might work...if you drain the blood out first..maybe...
Liod
Why would you drain the blood out first? It'll get in no matter what when you eat it, does it have to be gory?
Malicane
Well I actually have a substitute to post here.....

When i was s.o.l. so to speak with not having blood, I made a drink that seemed to dull the cravings... What I mixed was, a bottle of red gatorade, and beef stock... like oxo powder etc. beer soup stock... you can play around with the mixture ratio to get a closer match for your 'taste in blood' heh...

It cant evenm come close to comparing to the real thing, but it helped a bit nonetheless.
Ravager
That would taste like chicken...
darksephiroth
well why not be gory?thats always fun.
darksephiroth

are you suprised?.........

Personally I dont honestly think you can substitute blood- but you can substitute the source, as mentioned earlier- pureed raw liver can come pretty close when slightly warmed, failing that go to the butchers and ask if they have any beef blood to make black pudding, for those who dont know what that is its blood mixed with oats and other bits and pieces which is fried, Used regualrly for breakfasts where im from- the butcher will usually be quite obliging, I have never had any say no in the past. Beef blood comes the closest to human blood to the best of my knowledge and experience.
darksephiroth
man..i thought i was talkin to myself for a minute there
