New 'bath due out soon, but no Mikael! (Mikael Arkerfeldt - Vocals). Dan Swano is now playing guitar (he was on drums before), and new members Tagtgren and Axe are on vocals and drums respectively.

I'll miss Mikael but I'm looking forward to it.
collapsedperception
agreed he will be missed...
we'll have to see how it turns out eh?

Yes I like the odd death metal band, but only in small doses. There's only so much manly grunting I can take ;)

Thought I'd add some of the bands I like:
Death thumbsup.gif
Napalm Death
Decapitated
Frankenbok have some decent death metal songs, though I wouldn't call them a death metal band.
Cannibal Corpse (some of it... not overly fond of them)

That's all I can think of for now..
xxgeinnothingxx
I like some Swedish Death Metal like In Flames and Killswitch Engage. I also like some Opeth.
deformity_of_god
isnt in flames more black metal than death? i pesonally like exhumed, pig destroyer, the berzerker, and so on...you should check them out
xxgeinnothingxx
In Flames is know as "Swedish Death Metal" actually.

Actually, no its not.

You couldent possibly hamper all metal from sweden into one genre, there are too many different styles.

For example Opeth and Soilwork, In Flames and Edge of Sanity, Dissection and Meshuggah.

In Flames did start off with some black metal influence, but clearly the band arent a black or death metal group. They're just metal, thats enough really. 'Melodic metal' if want want to get picky and have to have a label to slap on something.

You may perhaps have meant 'Gothenburg metal'. There are quite a few bands coming out of Gothenburg that get reffered to with that term as a secondary method of classification, though this has a little more substance than 'Swedish metal' - there are a few bands coming out of 'burg with a similar sound and/or similiar influences.
deformity_of_god
yeah, i was told they were sweedish metal

Thats true in that they are metal from sweden, but thats not really a usefull little tag in any way. Sweden have a tendancy to be the pioneers of metal, so theres a whole cast of shit that comes from there.

is that so.....?
well, live and learn, i guess.....
xxgeinnothingxx
Well, the only reason that I say it is Swedish Death Metal...is because of articles and shit and In Flames calling them self by that gnere......I think it was in a Revolver article where it can be found. Perhaps......they are somthing else...but I do know that was said by them.
deformity_of_god
well im not sure about that.
but have any of you heard of a band named pig destroyer?they are really good both musically amd lyrically(if you can decipher the metaphor of their lyrics).if you can, you should check them out.
xxgeinnothingxx
I have not yet heard of them
deformity_of_god
you should check them out, their good.
xxgeinnothingxx
Alright, I will go look them up right now.
xxgeinnothingxx

no problem
deformity_of_god
another band that every one should check out, cattle decapitation. you might not like them, but i do. i went to a show with them in it, and since then ive been trying to get my hands on one of their cds.
Fail
Theres nothing wrong with coming home from work and throwing on a bit of Cannible Corpse and ramming your head into the wall for a few hours.

But seriously I am not a real big fan of Death Metal some of the guitar work appeals to me though its alot faster than the stuff I play. I noticed nobody put up the classic Eygption death metal up here, what about Cryptopsy...
AzraelFilth
Crytopsy is awesome..from canada. now i don't know of much death metal from egypt..but there is nile. which is influenced by that culture blah blah blah.
Terria
Classic Egyption death metal? Are you perhaps reffering to Nile ? ^_^

Lord Worm is back with 'topsy now, so we can all look forward to more None So Vile quality technical death!

Also, if you're a fan of technical stuff, you might want to give some Cephalic Carnage a go.
deformity_of_god
yeah cephalic carnage kiks ass. what cd of theirs do you think is good though?
Terria
Fuck, no contest; Lucid Interval.

Its technical as fuck, fast as all cunt, and generally just all round fuckin' insane.

I read in a review somewhere 'While the name of the band is a reference to the effect that massive doses of pot can have on the brain, I can only surmise that this album was recorded while these gentlemen were coked out of thier fucking skulls' and I'm inclined to agree.

If you're going to give CC a go, get the title track from this album, or just go out and buy it.
deformity_of_god
hmmm. maybe.
does any one here know who the berzerker is, they are also a very good band.they are one of my favorites.
Terria
I've been a 'zerker fan scince the first self titled release, though I belive Dissimulate is definetly the better album. Theres a few other members here who I've shown the band to, and are now 'zerker fans \m/

You should look into more Australian metal man, you'll find we are quite competant in the genre.

Try some of the following:

Abramelin
Astriaal
Fuck.. I'm dead
Destroyer 666
Dungeon
At First Light
Psycroptic
Armoured Angel
Infernal Method
Psychrist
Alchemist

Abramelin, Psycroptic, Fuck.. I'm Dead, and Astriaal are probably the most 'stand out' bands among those.

well, the only way i can check out a band is if i buy there cd, and i rarly have enough to get a new one, so out of all those, who would you recomend(as a more death/gore metal type)?

The four bands I mentioned as stand outs.

If you can find anything more brutally assualting than Fuck.. I'm Dead, without just being tasteless guitar mashing blast beaten drivel, you must show them to me.

Psycroptic are an original spin on technical/melodic death, without being another clone band. The vocalist has rather insane range, being the only guy I've heard manage both a Dani-esque shreik, and super-gutteral grind/gore growl with equalling quality.

Those two bands would be your best bet, if not all four.
deformity_of_god
okay
deformity_of_god
does any one know/like exhumed?i think they kick ass
