the cures new self titled album is out today it hits me with mixed thoughts its been how many years...and they bring out a self titled album o_0 interesting?

the general sound is a cherpier blend of wild mood swings and and there 84 to 90's albums i.e more poppier influnces.
the cure are on a come back?trying to cash in on this new found 80's revival? all these NME totting garage rock kids have done it not to mention the darkness pulling back the stadium rock to the mainstream its become quite shocking how apprant the 80's revival has become I see it every where!
but getting back to the cure who of you have heard it?and what do you think ?.....

I only download music to discover new bands...I don't like downloading entire albums, I have much more satisfaction buying albums myself.

Eh, I posted about the new VIDEO but thanks for bringing up the album.

I've heard of the cure, I love the cure, I'm gonna buy the new album as soon as I get paid. :)

I love the cure, they are great and one of my favourite bands. But sadly, I think this album would be more appropriately titled:
'Oh crap, we've run out of money, what do we do now? Oh I know, release a new album and get as much exposure as possible!'

Example - Recentish releases:
Blink 182 feat. Robert Smith - All Of This
Junior Jack feat. Robert Smith - Da Hype
The Cure - Greatest Hits CD
The Cure - Greatest Hits DVD

That being said, I'll probably buy the new album anyway ;)

I had no idea a new album was coming out. I wonder what it sounds like. After Bloodflowers, I am strugging to remain optimistic, but that album was pretty lacking. Not that it was a bad album, but it just didn't feel as personal as some of their other work. Disintegration was like "I am the sad and windswept ..whatever" whereas Bloodflowers was more "look at this sad and winswept ...whatever" I don't know if that made sense, I just mean it didn't connect as deeply for me (and most of those I know who listened to it) but anyway I hope the new one is good.

That's true of every band that's been around as long as they have. Hey, look at R.E.M. :P

Not only are they one of my all time favorites, unlike most of you, I grew up in the late 70s through the early 90s listening to the Cure. I even sported the wild hair and later the crew cut that was Robert Smith's trademark for years.

My favorite album has got to be Disintegration.

I just received and listened to my copy of the Cure's new cd. All I really have to say is that this cd sounds great at times but its less filling. The Cure returned to their classic 80's sound. The first 5 songs takes you back to that time. The next 6 songs, well that just passable. The cd is just so,so. No song really stands out that I want to play over and over again. What's really missing is a lack of ethereal sound quality. This cd still pales in comparson to my other Cure favs (Pornograpy, Disintegration, and The Top)

I was a big fan of the Cure a long time ago, but after the "Friday I'm In Love" song by them, I just lost all interest in them. I just like music from much newer acts such as Blutengel. The Cure had their time in the sun I guess.

Btw, this is the only cd in my entire collection that has the "FBI Anti-Piracy Warning" on it. What gives?

well the cure being my fave band in the world I got annoyed by this instant boom of them, not to mention the gratuitous use of their classics on car adverts! I go out where and cure t-shirt and I get what is know as a rude girl in the uk coming up to me in their short skirt and strapy top clutching a WKD blue and a fag saying "oi aint that cure band the band that did that song that like peter from pop idol did innit" ¬_¬ thats atchally replaced "cut your hair" "I dont like that shouty metal you listen to" haha I'm wearing a CURE t-shirt they couldnt be more pop! lol anyway...I think I better stop ranting lol

Well there's one positive... I wont need to get thoroughly depressed when I walk into the local CD store anymore (They used to actually have the Cure in the Heavy Metal/Hard Rock section  )
