Penelope lounges by the side of the road with her straggly brown curls hanging limply to her shoulders. She can't stay at their apartment anymore.

Too many memories of Rachael lay there. Penelope lets her lids close over her gold eyes as she remembers her face. Rachael... Penelope tries not to let a tear slide down.

She pounds her fist against the cement and watches a green car pass by in frustration.

Penelope will forget in time... She stands, bringing herself to her full height. At seventeen years, Penelope is still only barely five feet. She glances at the shadow of a tree, a disfigured shape on the concrete.

As a mage, Penelope wished she could erase her memory, but mages have very limited magic...

IC: Standing on the sidewalk, she watched as the cars passed by. She decided that she looked like an idiot standing there, and began walking. She didn't know where she was walking ot, she just walked. SHe found herself at an appartment door, nad knocked. It was as if she was lead there by some kjind of trance. The door opened, and a young girl stood there. It looked as if she was lonely. She was only about 17. Katrina knew she had seen this girl before, but where? *

Penelope looked back at the apartment. Someone was knocking on the door. Penelope ran up behind the woman, but the door opened.

Rachael stood there.

"What...?" Rachael disappeared. Penelope looked at the woman. "Did you see that? Did you see her standing there?" Penelope shook the woman. "Did you see her?!"

"I'm sorry," Penelope let go of the woman and collapsed onto one of the stairs. "Did you see her?"

*Katrina had never seen something like this before..As a mage that is just now learning her powers, there would alot more that would shock her. she turned as a woman ran up to her, and grabed her.. "Yes, I saw it. You'r friend I presume?" She was still shocked at seeing this site, and a bit confused. "what happened to her? murder?" murder was the only thing she could think of, for a spirit to stick around where she lived, or killed. Katrina reached down, and grabed the girl by the arms, and pulled her up into her own arms. "Don't cry, don't be sad. We will find out what happened to her. and why she is still here. I would tell you that she is in a better place, but she's not. Se's still carrying around a burden that she wants to share, or else she would not still be here." She held the girl in a tight embrace, and closed her eyes, to ry to make sense of all this.*

"Thank you," Penelope held onto the woman. "You're Katrina aren't you? You're another mage, right? I'm Penelope... Rachael... They thought I was her. I caused them some trouble. I saved a demon they were hunting. Some foolish bounty hunters. Rachael was the only person that ever loved me, ever cared. I was thrown out of my home, raised in an institution for being what I am. How can we set her soul free?"

*katrina looked at the young girl and smiled, "yes, I am Katrina. So she was murdered.. Now we have to get her to tell us what she wants us to know. And the only way she'll do that, is to be able to trust me." She looks at Penelope, and smiles, "come on.." she said as she went into the apartment. "Rachael.. I know your here.. I need to talk to you. Please, come and sit with me. Tell me what you know." She closed the door behind Penelope, and smiled, "I don't know if this is going to work or not. We may have to cast a spell. Tell me, did Rachael know that you are a mage? She may not trust you, if you didn't tell her." Katrina sat down on the couch, to wait for the friend to show her face once more.*

"Rachael knew before I knew myself," Penelope shook her head. "I'm not good at being a mage. I tried to lock my powers away, but you know what that brings. It comes out whether I want it to or not, and when I lock it in... the consequences are dire."

Penelope put a hand on Katrina's. "Rachael's ghost form needs rest. She was just exposed to sunlight, that can take a lot of energy from a ghost, spirit, whatever you want to call it... It was my fault she died, Katrina..." Penelope talked very fast over that. "How did you end up here, where did you come from?"

*Katrina looked at the girl that sat before her.. "I was on the sidewalk, but i was brought here in some kind of trance. look, it doesn't matter who i am or why i'm here, I don't even know that.. yet. We need to find out what happened to Rachael, and why she wants our help, before she leaves us for the spirit world." She looked around at some pictures, looking for clues. "Do you have anything that she had on here when she was murdered? do you know exactly who did this?I need to know everything, and I mean everything." she looked around some more, and caught a glimps of a white being in the corner of her eye.. She looks up, and her eyes floow it.. Around a corner, and into a room.. A bedroom..But why..?"

"Rachael... I found her dead, aparantly the killer thought it was me, the mage. He killed her in the way that you would kill a mage... Cut off the hands at the wrist, stab out the eyes and burn the remains... I have this."

Penlope pulls off her silver necklace, with a locket attached to it. "I gave this to her. She never took it off."

*katrina looks back at her, and see's teh necklace, "ok, good.. we have somethig to go by." she walks around in the room, and finds a diary. Katrina picks it up, and walks back ot the living room, and sat down beside penlope. "here.. look, i found this.." she opens it up, and reads a few pages.."these guys have been following her for days.. look!" she says as she hands the book to Penlope.*

"I had no idea," Penelope pulls the diary out of Katrina's hands. "So she was hiding things from me..."

*Katrina nods, "Yup, she probably didn't want you to find it, because she was protecting you, they will mor ethan likely come for you next, and when they see us together, they will come after me. If i have my guess they are watching now, so don't use you'r powers unless you need to." she sighed, and watched as Penelope was reading to book.*
