had a quick sweep through. her stuf doesn't look half bad. the copyright thing though... that's just a piss-off

if it was properly 'protected', it shouldn't take me 2 clicks to give you this:

the only thing that disabling right-click does, is piss people like me off because it's such a lame newbie way of 'protecting' images.

have a look at the picture galleries here and see if you can pull up a direct link like that to any of the photos. chances are you won't be able to, because they're properly 'protected' from remote-linking and stuff like that

so, i suppose my two criticisms are:
(1) her work is good
(2) her site is annoying

both are meant well. i've just finished a semester of doing user-oriented website design, so useability was one thing they hammered into us pretty good. disabling things like the right-click, as i said, pisses people like me off, and there's a lot of people like me out there :P ("people like me", as in, people who have similar browsing habits)

My sister says:

First of all, why would YOU want to right-click it?
Secondly, it doesn't take two clicks for me to open those links... and they are linked back to the page...

(Since all my stuff that I wrote had been deleted because of a lame pop-up, I forgot the third thing I said.)

And I am quite aware that disabling the right-click doesn't prevents art-thieves, since there are other ways of stealing. But it's just to keep the newbs away :P I thought you must have known that.

And you don't need to direct link an image to use it... you can save it on your computer and upload it to your own server. But of course, for the users who have XP we can just leave our mouse on top of the image and some buttons will pop up and you may register the image to your computer. But I'm sure you know that, since you graduated from... your semester. blah whatever :P unsure.gif

Anyway thanks for the comment :D ^ _ ^

First of all, why would YOU want to right-click it?

unless it has the backing of a multi-million dollar organisation, sites tend to not last forever. therefore, if i run into something something i find very awesome, i store it for the sake of having access to it for when i want to see it again.
i'm very capable of creating my own art so i don't need to copy someone else's and claim it as my own, so artwork piracy doesn't apply to me.

all i'm saying is that disabling right-click does nothing other than annoy people. there's like a million and one ways of copying the art-work that don't involve annoying popups. it's just a useability issue
*shrug*

and i know you don't need to direct-link an image in order to display it elsewhere. making it possible to direct-link simply means that someone else can display those images on another page and suck up your sister's bandwith instead of their own

in netscape, you right-click on the page with the frames, select to view the frame source code, search for "jpg" in the html and it'll give you relative links to all the images.
all you need to do is enter the link correctly in the address bar and you can view and remotely link all the images. there's easier ways as well, but the site seems to be down now so i can't try them out.

i'm just saying, it's too easy to get the images in other ways so what's the point in disabling my beloved right-click?
