Writers block
She told me to write from my heart, from my soul
She said to write what's inside of me
But what if there isn't anything there?
What is my heart is full of blankness?
What if inside me is a vast emptiness,
waiting to swallow me up?
Waiting, hungry, to devour my mind,
when I finally give in?
What if the only thing in my soul
is a square cement cube,
labeled "writer's block"?
We all go through it, share writer's block experience.

I'm currently stuck with writers block and I'm really wanting to write a lot more on the story I have going in my thread, but can't.... I usually cure my writers block by finding someone online that I can just rant to or what ever and just start saying what ever comes to mind to them. Usually it doesn't make all that much sense at first, but eventually once you begin pouring out more and more thought it starts to flow together and you're writing again.
With how busy my life has been lately I haven't been able to do so, but perhaps I'll be able to do so sometime next week.

the best thing is not too force it if you do it just gets harder.....the best thing is just sit with pen and paper or keybaord and just picturer stuff use your Imagination. you mite think up some thing that i'll make you happy.
or sad it does not matter. and theirs no pressure on you to write it down. just relax...and let it take you. but if you feel that urge to write about it or anything don't worrie about in perticaler a poem.
if its just how you feel witch is important. by the way then go a head and don't judge it. do this a couple of times...its the best advice i can offer.

Thanx for the suggestion. I think I just might try that. I'm not sure how else to get around it. I'm glad there's nice people on here who can help me out. It's always nice knowing that people are here to help. I appreciate it! :)

I'm going through a sort of writers block. I can write a good poem when I am experiencing an extreme mood.

Me too.... Gah I hate this feeling...... when I get it, its like everything in the whole world is boring.
Generally, I have to wait it out.... attempting to force myself through it makes for mickey mouse crap on paper......

*laughs* When I have writer's block I write a poem about it, no matter how much it sucks I force myself to sit down and write it, next thing ya know, the ideas just start flowing. Beyond that, the best I can say is listen to some music or read a book. That's what I do.

my brother has a writers block book that just gives a bunch of random thought to think about to get the brain juices flowing. its pretty cool. just sit down and think about how a fly eats, you knoq how they throw up on everything, and think about that ALOT or something stoopid, and its like that whole eurecha thing. it usually shall help. i know it seems stoopid. just pick a REALLY random thought and explore it really deeply, even if its shallow. it helps... or it should.

I agree. I can't just write something about a specific one thing!

I should get to and do write about stuff I want to write about.

Escape . . . I'm not really sure what you are talking about exactly (no offence, just tired) but I do have my own poetry in dark whispers if you would like to read it. I cannot guarantee anything good, but it's something. I'm sorry for not responding in a while. I went to Ocean City for Vacation and I just got home. I'm tired, so I shall say more tomorrow! :)

i seem to get my writer's block after periods of poetic diarrhoea or 'binge writing' as i've had it described before.
it's basically when i've said all i can think to say about something and don't know what else to say about it. so i stagnate for a while and then something new happens and the cycle starts again. i think the biggest source of my blocks is the fact that my life is boring with a capital B. nothing much happens most of the time so there is little for me to write.
as part of 'writer's block' i also include not being able to write as well as i would like to. not being able to find the right words to say what i feel. i can find words, but not the right ones, not in the right sequence, not with the same strength.
i don't know what advice to offer in fighting blocks... just try new things, talk to new people, do stuff you don't normally do. look at the birds in the park next time you pass by (or the couple making out in the mar) and wonder what they're feeling at that moment. look at the people shoving each other out of the way in the city and ask yourself what they're feeling at that moment. look at things sideways or upside down (you can take that both literally and metaphorically). you will find new words to describe new things and most likely will feel the need to write about those new things.
that's all i can think of right now

I am an aspiring writer myself, and sometimes when I get into these periods, I do something radical to get myself out of the daily monotony of life.
For instance, I might take a long drive, head out of town and visit old friends, or find a nice restaurant I've never been to before, or get myself invited to parties.
In other words, I try to get unstuck in my head, and the best way I've found of doing that is to hang out with other people.
Hope this helps. :)

I absolutely HATE writer's block!!! But I find that I get around it by listening to new music or music I haven't listened to in a loooooooooooooooong ass time. Lol.
I haven't posted anything here, but should I? How many people would actually read my stuff? Okay, wrong place to ask, but ok.
I'll go check other people's stuff out.

I hate it also, and i do get it quite a bit...
Listening to music like A Perfect Circle, Pearl Jam, or even SiKth help me :)
At times, my writer's block will last for month's on end. Like now. I know what causes most of mine, but the problems that do are out of my control.

do what i've been doing, *says it for the millionth time* ( :) ) do stuff you don't usually do, write about stuff you don't normally think about. like me, yesterday or the day before that i wrote a poem about a bird when it sat on the verandah in front of my window. small things. just stuff to spark your mind again and get you going :)

that's exactly what i do. though i have no woods around my house :(
we do have an awesome park though and this HUGE street with MASSIVE trees around this time of year when the trees drop their leaves it's like it's softly raining gold as you walk along the street
that alone has got to give a few ideas to anyone who sees it. it's sooooooooo beautiful
so yeah, for me, cure for writer's block = LOOK AROUND!!!

I've tried, I think it will solve its self on its own. It usualy takes me a year or so after someone dies.
Thanks for the suggesions though...

i'm sorry to hear about your loss. in the past i've dealt with the death's of loved ones by writing about it. but i suppose this just goes to show that we all deal with things differently.

That is a good idea, but a lot of people don't think that way.
Like me, when I have writer's block sometimes I just sit there with a pen in hand and just write words down. Then I come up with stuff to write inbetween.

Don't know much about writing. Been a long time since I have been to a place like this. Anyway I recently discovered a new exercise. Freefalling. It can be scary. It is hard to do. You pick any ordinary or unoridinary item. Anything. Then you strat describing it. Don't think. That's the hard part. Don't think. If you do you'll get in your own way. Start describing and don't stop writing. When you think you can't write anything else. Start doing more describing. It is amazing if you can do it. I started describing sunlight on the wall and found myslef talking about a childhood experience. So be aware, you never no where you'll end up.

My 'writers block' is awful, I'll think of something that sounds great, then when I get out of the shower or whatever I was doing, I can't remember what it was or even the topic. I hate this, I need some better motivation, think thats the problem.

kan, i posted my suggestion as to what to do on the first page of this thread. it's the big slab on the first page. have a read through that if you want and see if any of it connects with you. it's what i do and it seems to be working. i've been doing a lot of new things lately or things i don't usually do and i've been churning out some semi-decent stuff. personally i'd rather write something crap than not write at all, so i sometimes push myself to write just so i stay in touch with that part of me
*shrugs* don't know what else to say
best of luck with it
