I Just finished my master piece and wondered if there were any Forgers here.
I do Blade smithing and Some plate mail and intense amounts of chainmaille. (see website.)
So are there any fellow forgers/maillers here?
By the way I use an electric fanpropellored(SP?) coal forge and still do forgewelding becouse of money shortage for gastanks and blowtorch.

To the best of my knowledge, you're the only one. And yes, it's most definatly an art form in my opnion. I've been wanting two Crusader swords for some time now. I have a place that would be perfect for them next to my book case. Found a place that makes them, but it was a bit to much for me to afford at the time.

I know it's expensive. It takes a long time to make a nice sword.
especially how I make em.
Kinda sad being the only one. :(
EDIT: nice avvie btw

Well dark_princess22 forging is beating the hell out of a redhot piece of meatl to create something nice like a sword or something like a statue.
Well goldie I don't mind you asking.
I whent to a renfaire once with some of my buddys and I saw this guy make a sword on an avil and I though hey I can do this i nmy garage.
I started looking around for equipment and voila a whole setup was created in my garage and now I make swords plate armour and rarely art.
I've just finished my coolest swords ever and I have but one pic someone else took for his website.
My own cam is kaput :(
this is the only pic i have of my sword so far.

for the rest of the description of this sword see my signature.

wow!
that's awesome!
i've 'forged' blades before, but more of a digital forging, kinda like this:

nothing even remotely as cool as that blade of yours though, but at least any 3D swords i make can't be confiscated by the police and me charged for weapon possession ;) hehe
Jue-Eldir Arowane
Jun 23 2004, 07:36 AM
I think your swords are kewl.
I can only dream of drawing 3D like that. *is worst artist ever*
I've never had my sword confiscated.
I carry it everywhere and the cops never said a word.

oh.. hmm. oh well hehe there was a thing on the news a few days ago about some dude getting arrested and having some 30 samurai swords confiscated from his house. can't remember why he was arrested though
and umm... my 3D work is nothing compared to some others i've seen, but i like those scimitars. i've made a couple axes and shields and stuff as well, but i could never make a real sword hehe that would actually take like...... effort!!!
you should post some more of the stuff you've made

I have very little pictures and the one above was hosted by a friend of mine.
*Has absolutely no clue as how to host websites or pics.*
About that effort thing...
It's worth it making something over a large span of time.
I've got several projects I took at least half a year to make and they're worth every minute.
*Shows of spiffy armour , daggers , knives and swords and other shit*

Jun 23 2004, 07:53 AM
wow, i could never do something for that long heheh i get sick and tired of a project after a week or two (if it's even that long) of intensively working on them :P
and with pics, you can post them in here and they'll be 'hosted' by the site.
that's what the "Browse" button is for when you click to reply. you just find the picture file and hit Add Reply.
*eyes glimmer at all the spiffy armor, daggers, knives and swords and other shit* :D heheh

niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiceeeeeeeeeeeee.
that's not a sketch though by the way, that's a fully 3D model of the armor and it looks like it was modelled by a mighty-fine digital artist.
and you can actually physically make something like that?!?
for $6500? wowwww
*genuinely impressed*

if you're running windows, just use Paint.
go to your Start menu, then All Programs > Accessories > Paint
open the picture in paint, then just say File > Save As... and above where you enter the filename, there's the drop-down list to choose what format you want to save it in.
apologies if i'm insulting your level of knowledge by detailed descriptions, but i figure it's better to say it detailed once rather than twice :P hehe

I've tried paint but it doesn't seem to hae that option anymore.

http://www.acdsystems.com/english/products...lassic-Downloadyou don't HAVE to register it, it'll still run after it 'expires'.
it opens any image super-fast, and allows you to save any image format into any other image format and a few other things.
*pets his 3D card because he loves it* :D
and yeah, you should take a screenshot of your screen, i'd love to see it though i doubt it looks anywhere near as bad as mine did when i first put my card in, check it out haha

No fucking way in hell I'm selling my baby.
Nu uh never. *shakes head vigorously*
Never ever never.
I made a pricing on this one once and the costs surpass 2000 $ easy for the time needed alone.
that's without material costs (not that much but hey) and without the needed skill and craftsmanship price too.
