Hi folks, I am Mookie.

As an outsider, I have a few questions about "real" vampires. Hypothetical questions, most of them. I figured if i was to ever figure these things out, I should go right to the source. Please bear in mind that I am horribly misinformed and am only aware of vampire sterotypes, so be gentle. I was just wondering a few fundamental things.

Here are the questions:

1. If a man-vampire and a woman-vampire procreate, what is the offspring? Is it a human baby? Is it a full-fledged vampire from birth?

2. Do vampires themselves have blood? If so, what's to stop a vampire from drinking blood from another vampire? If not, do they have a circulatory system?

3. Can vampires go out in daylight and use sunglasses?

4. Should there be restrictions and regulations on vampires that participate in sporting events? Is it unfair to be able to change into a bat during a high jump, pole vault, or something of the like?

5. Do vampires really turn into bats? While they are bats, if they mated with a real bat, what would the offspring be?

6. Do vampires prefer a certain blood type? Should they be allowed to work pro-bono at a blood bank?

Thank you for your responses.

I will not answear on the grounds that all of those answears can be found if you look around the threads on related topics.
Mookie
Well, that's no fun.

I just wanted a theoretical discussion of classical vampires...anyone else want to quench my purient interests?

1. If a man-vampire and a woman-vampire procreate, what is the offspring? Is it a human baby? Is it a full-fledged vampire from birth?

Often assumed to be a half-vampire, Dunpeal, etc.

QUOTE
2. Do vampires themselves have blood? If so, what's to stop a vampire from drinking blood from another vampire? If not, do they have a circulatory system?

It is assumed that vampires have blood.
In the VtM realm one often drinks blood of an elder vampire in order for be bound to him. If one consumes all the blood and the soul of another vampire, it is referred to as "diablerie", a sin, but also very useful sometimes...

QUOTE
3. Can vampires go out in daylight and use sunglasses?

Not likely. UV rads still penetrate sunglasses, not to mention the rest of the skin of the head is still exposed.

QUOTE
4. Should there be restrictions and regulations on vampires that participate in sporting events? Is it unfair to be able to change into a bat during a high jump, pole vault, or something of the like?

Most Olympic events are outdoors during the day (See above.)

QUOTE
5. Do vampires really turn into bats? While they are bats, if they mated with a real bat, what would the offspring be?

Hard to say, I dont think they really turn into bats anyway - it's just an illusion to disguise themselves in flight, and essentially to fuck with our feeble mortal minds.

QUOTE
6. Do vampires prefer a certain blood type? Should they be allowed to work pro-bono at a blood bank?

I'm sure vampires, just like snooty bougoisie people can with wine, can discern between differnt types of blood. Food is still food.
As for the question of blood banks...who's to say that they dont own the bloody things? (pardon the pun)
There's a reason I dont get blood drawn... <_< ...it's cause I hate needles. ;)

Hi folks, I am Mookie.

Hello Mookie.

QUOTE
1. If a man-vampire and a woman-vampire procreate, what is the offspring? Is it a human baby? Is it a full-fledged vampire from birth?

MY personal belief is that they can't. That is, they're shooting blanks. Not gonna happen. In fact I also believe that they can't preform sexually at all. It's all that silly hollywood. Besides, vampires already have a means to reproduce. (Of course that view of vampires seems like a more traditional one...)

QUOTE
2. Do vampires themselves have blood? If so, what's to stop a vampire from drinking blood from another vampire? If not, do they have a circulatory system?

Well, just to point out something, if a vampire didn't have a circulitory system, it'd be awful hard to get a dick errect.
That being said, I first believe that vampires don't really have a breath, or if they do it's purely out of habit, and not of function. And since they're not doing the breathing thing, the circulitory system wouldn't work.

Wait... no! nevermind, vampires do have a circulitory system. um.... actually I'm going to get back to you, i'm torn between the non-magic vampire (ya know, like a possible vampire that doesn't use magic or converse with demons) and the magic vampire(the demon-thing that's held together by magic).

QUOTE
3. Can vampires go out in daylight and use sunglasses?

heeeel no. either way, no.

QUOTE
4. Should there be restrictions and regulations on vampires that participate in sporting events? Is it unfair to be able to change into a bat during a high jump, pole vault, or something of the like?

Hehe, I can just imagine... "Vampire dies in Olympics from falling on wooden hurdle." Well yeah, I'd say it's unfair. This is for humans, not for some freaks. It's like inviting a wolf to a sheep olympics. (not that humans are weak like sheep or anything...)

QUOTE
5. Do vampires really turn into bats? While they are bats, if they mated with a real bat, what would the offspring be?
Kudos for your interesting situations. but once again, i'd say the vampire can't preform sexually. As for turning into bats... the more powerful traditional ones can.

QUOTE
6. Do vampires prefer a certain blood type? Should they be allowed to work pro-bono at a blood bank?
No! they shouldn't even be allowed to participate in our society. As for blood types, it really doesn't make too much of a difference... for a traditional vampire the blood is more about the energy anyway, and the modern vampire would either A. be digesting the blood, making the type not matter. or B. absorbing it through some other method (like a second throat, or having their original throat convert) to absorb the blood directly. Thus, they must have some way to deal with different blood types. As for taste, it doesn't make a difference, you can't taste the difference, the difference is on the tiny cell membranes of the blood.... they're just variation in marker proteins. (I think.)

KEEP IN MIND that this is just my thoughts on the subject. While I claim to be right, I may not be. Enjoy.

I am so badly in love with you. Haha. You're great.

Anyyyway...

To hypothetically answer your hypothetical questions..

1. To my mind, a classical vampire cannot procreate in the man/woman reowl 'sexy trouble' kinda way. It's all about the transfusion of blood. So in other words - their 'offspring' would just be another vampire...but it wouldn't really be 'offspring' anyway.

2. Yes, they have blood. Nothing stops them from drinking from each other - I imagine they quite enjoy it. I imagine their blood is made up of their original mortal blood, the blood of the one who made them, and then the subsequant blood of their victims. Kind of like a nice blood stew. Yum.

3. No, I imagine not.

4. It is very unfair. The government should be contacted, and duly place restrictions upon their involvement. Perhaps a penalty system, regarding points and scores?

5. No, I think not. But if they were to mate with a bat, whilst in bat form, the result would probably be a little messy.

6. I don't think so, and oh god..god no.

what happen if a vampire contracted a deadly disease that would kill most humans? would they still live?
Do all vampire's have special healing properties?

Well, I'll state my opinion before answering you specifically. Noone of this questions could be answered. That said, I'll try to give my opinion.

1. If a man-vampire and a woman-vampire procreate, what is the offspring? Is it a human baby? Is it a full-fledged vampire from birth?

I tend to figure it out as a natural new vampire. I would create a distinction if one of the two was a man, not in the case of two vampires though.

2. Do vampires themselves have blood? If so, what's to stop a vampire from drinking blood from another vampire? If not, do they have a circulatory system?

No elements to state that nor to give an opinion. It is obvious you are talking of classicals so before creating any hypothesys we should try to justify their immortality, for ex. Without basic infos as this one I think noone can say something of use.

3. Can vampires go out in daylight and use sunglasses?

A classical? The answer is the same I gave before. Anyway I would imagine they would have that possibility even without sunglasses. The myth of the vampire that stalks only during the nighttime, is too full of symbols to belive it could have a root of truth. My two cents obviously.

4. Should there be restrictions and regulations on vampires that participate in sporting events? Is it unfair to be able to change into a bat during a high jump, pole vault, or something of the like?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... Sorry but... is that really a problem IYO? A question that needs answer?? Seems too trivial to be taken in consideration.

5. Do vampires really turn into bats? While they are bats, if they mated with a real bat, what would the offspring be?

The bat is nothing more than a symbol. It is a bit childish to belive they would. Anyway the answer is always the same. No elements.

6. Do vampires prefer a certain blood type? Should they be allowed to work pro-bono at a blood bank?

It would be fascinating. At all effect I'm sure they wouldn't spend much time on that.

An advice for the future, Mookie. You have all the material you need here to be soon documented. Take this burden. This is not exactly the kind of discussion "real vampires" should harbor. Speculative yes... but you would see for your own that a vampire of that kind hasn't much more credibility than Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone.

Two things on this one: 1:theres a qote button...
2:According to most sites ive been to that supposedly have "real" vampires in them and according to the research ive done. Vampire tachnically cant catch colds, diseases, or sickness's.

And yes to answer a question or statment that probably will come up. I have to much free time on my hands and to fill that time i research vampires...

Its a human baby up until puberty where its genes or whatever its happens to be that does it decides wether its vampire or not. Then after that its a freakish nightmare.

QUOTE
2. Do vampires themselves have blood? If so, what's to stop a vampire from drinking blood from another vampire? If not, do they have a circulatory system?

Vampires have their own blood, and yes they can drink from eachother.

QUOTE
3. Can vampires go out in daylight and use sunglasses?

Yes, sunscreen is also advised.

QUOTE
4. Should there be restrictions and regulations on vampires that participate in sporting events? Is it unfair to be able to change into a bat during a high jump, pole vault, or something of the like?

Vampires cannot turn into a bat nor do they have supernatural strength.

QUOTE

No.

Depends on the vampires taste and Yes, yes they should.

^_^ Boy do I ever love watching you poeple talk about mythical creatures as though they were fact...and make hypothesis about whether said creatures can have what characteristics.

Jeez...how did you all figure out what they could and couldn't do...did you have fun as you were concocting your fairy tales? You people have way too much time on your hands...SHIT.

Happy Valentine's Day, dearie. :D

Yes, that was completely off topic, and loaded with spam. Just the way I like it.

It was also a sincere Happy Valentine's Day wish.

^_^ Naw...it just roasts my nuts to see these people talking with such vim and vigor about creatures that do not exist. They sit there and talk about them as if for fucking certain they exist.

It just don't seem natural...and it sure as shit don't seem healthy. I have kept my mouth shut for nigh unto five months...but it just chaffs my ass...to see people come on here and be coddled to when they talk about awakening and being "real vampires"...when they need a good lecture and a good dose of reality crammed halfway down their throats. angry.gif

And Happy Valentines to you too. ^_^

I have a few questions about vampires not "classicals". I am also new with the vampire topic so I hope I am not asking stupid questions that will upset anyone .

1. Can a vampire drink to much blood? (Enough that it will make him or her sick)
2. To my understanding, there are three main places to cut (throat/neck, inner thigh, and wrist), cant this be dangerous for the "donor"? (being cut where the blood flow in so strong).
3. Can a vampire live off of drinking blood alone? (since it is protein)
4. Can a "donor" get an infection on the cut where the vampire drinks from?(since the mouth has so much bacteria)
5. Where do vampires go to socialize, meet others like them and donors? (Some say goth clubs and fetish parties, others say no).
6. When meeting another person that you think is a vampire, is it okay to simply ask them if they are a vampire, or is that found offensive/rude? (Is there a better way to find out if they are a vampire without being blunt about it?)

Thank you :)

Ok, I'll bite. ;)

1. That depends on whom you talk to. There are a number of folks around here who believe blood to be an emetic (having the properties to make one throw up) so if you believe that, then yes. In the few conversations that I have had with HLV's concerning the topic, however, they really don't 'drink' that much. It's more of a sip or five, enough to satisfy the taste cravings. It's not like they keep jars of blood in their fridge disguised as clamato juice. I actually recommend hunting up MourningBloodloss for this question, as she seems to be fairly knowledgeable. She also has a good thread running around about it - located here - http://forum.vampires.com/index.php?showto...&hl=drink+blood

2. I personally wouldn't suggest cutting any of these places as yes, it is dangerous, but I'm not an HLV so I really wouldn't know. I suppose either aeternus or ReVamped could come along and clarify this for the both of us.

3. I doubt it very seriously. First of all, why would they want to, secondly, there are too many vitamins, minerals, etc, that are not found in blood but are necessary for human survival. Liquid diets are not recommended in general, either.

4. I would imagine it's quite possible, yes. Our own HLV's are quite meticulous about their drinking habits and their donors, thank Gawd. :P

5. Well, here in New Orleans they have the Sanguinarians 'club', they actually hold their own ball every year. I would imagine other large cities to have something similar. I've found that many also meet over the internet. Although, to be honest, I'd say they meet up with others and donors the same way anybody meets anybody. Everywhere.

6. Well, now. Seems to me the best way to find out is simply to ask. Some people find it rude, some don't and are grateful for the upfrontness. That's everyday life. Be about like wondering if someone is a priest, or a policeman, or what have you.
Soulforged2
First of all I must answer Nem about this

QUOTE

Sorry Nem but blood IS an emetic. This is not a supposition, this is a real, proven and undiscussed FACT. Not to sound pedant, belive me, I say that only because this is a confirmed reality, not in discussion.

Let's go to you, sweetheart Jazmine:

QUOTE
1. Can a vampire drink to much blood? (Enough that it will make him or her sick)

Obviously yes. Blood in particular. But that goes for everything else! Just think of drinking 35 or 40 cans of 12%volume beer. How do you see that experiment?

QUOTE
. To my understanding, there are three main places to cut (throat/neck, inner thigh, and wrist), cant this be dangerous for the "donor"? (being cut where the blood flow in so strong).

Yes. It is VERY dangerous. And this is a fact too. I guess experienced HLV know perfectly how to cut without killing their "prey". But I would badly avoid to cut the throat, for ex. Wrist may be safer after all, even if still dangerous. The fact is that they generally don't want to cut where there's a small flow of blood. It wouldn't probably be worth drinking it and it would be a very difficult operation too.

QUOTE
3. Can a vampire live off of drinking blood alone? (since it is protein)

This is absurd. Nope, never. Blood cannot be considered a satisfying reconstituent. And you know we do not need only for ex. carbohydrates but also vitamins, proteins etc. etc. Anyone telling the contrary is probably mocking you or a poser.

QUOTE
4. Can a "donor" get an infection on the cut where the vampire drinks from?(since the mouth has so much bacteria)

Well, this seriously is a problem for both. Blood transfers in such conditions are very very dangerous. Even under that point of view.

QUOTE
5. Where do vampires go to socialize, meet others like them and donors? (Some say goth clubs and fetish parties, others say no).

I belive this varies a lot. Not being an HLV, and so having no sure answer to give you, I prefer to leave it to someone other if you please. I'd rather concentrate myself on question I can answer for sure (or quite for sure)

QUOTE
6. When meeting another person that you think is a vampire, is it okay to simply ask them if they are a vampire, or is that found offensive/rude? (Is there a better way to find out if they are a vampire without being blunt about it?)

The answer is the same I gave for the question before.

1: yes we can drink to much its called greed and it will destroy any vamp, it is a slow death of the mind, and if it go's uncheked by any uncivil vamp he will become a hore to the blood and it will become any vamp's duty to hunt him (or her) down and destroy the abomination by fire.
2: i canot eaven belive that no one has the knowlege or intestinal fortitude to anser this question to the fullest, first it is one of the formost honers to be a "donor " as you say (at least by my famli) as for "cuting" there is NO cuting involved here, merly a soft bite at the rist that will heal in time.
3: by all means we live on blood alone , if you canot then your not one of us, if a vamp "eats" anything it is merly for show alone.
4: hhhmmmmm there are so meny levels to a bite, but sence you adres the word "donor" agin i will adress it there, no , we protect our donors, they are our childer you might say, it is a loving or at least respecful bit rather then wrathful wich would could incure meny things.
5: ROFL wouldent you like to know, dont ask.
6: here is a sugestion let the suposed vamp tell you, if of course it wishes, and if you do build up enuf nerve to ask do it VERY respectfuly (it may be your life) and if thay say yes there lying.
i wish to corect one other question here that of colds, diseases, or sickness's, the anser is this we have a pact with death or cursed by god which ever theology you belive, that there are only certain ways by wich we may be dispached, and trust me there arent meny, not by wood, not by littel bites of silver, nor do we burst into flame when cut by a silver sword, ooo but garlic and croses now THAT'S what i am afraid of LOL.

Did that yesterday, you know. A friend of mine is... well, was... a vampire. I tolerated that and helped him for so many years to save the mistery because.. God he was my friend... but the Beast rose within him for his unholy thirst... and he welcomed it. So he had become a mad vampire (not a Malkavian, you know, these are different). I had to kill him and purify his soul... if he had still a soul... with fire. Yes, know you know. I am a slayer. Be careful.

How powerful... I am spellbound by thy majesty my sire.

I am sorry with anyone if I was too harsh. But newbyes like this one completely waste the figure of the HLV. Not that I belive in HLVs but they are real, whatever you want to call them and whichever are the reasons for they feel that way.

Now, magneslee, I promise there would be no more of this. But before posting again, have a quick reading of the rules here. You find them pinned
Jazmine
:P I had a feeling someone was going to get him for that post. hehe

Thank you soulforged2 for your help. Your great ^_^

I am going through some issues and would like to meet some vampires in my area (not classical since they dont seem to exist). I live in Miami Beach and I am 29 years old. Do you have any suggestions as to how to go about it SAFELY?
Jazmine
magneslee, if you dont mind me asking... how old are you and where are you from. I'm asking because I noticed a lot of misspellings in your post. I am just curious to see if you are from somewhere besides the USA, or young, or just not good at spelling like me, or maybe you did the post really fast(not wanting to insult anyone).
Barnabas
^_^ Jazmine...here is a friendly little tip for you...never ask someone on here who claims they are a "classical" vampire....How old they are. It is just common sense hun...
They claim to be an ancient vampire....what in the bloody hell do you think they are going to say?
And that horrid spelling is just his delusional way of trying to make himself sound more mysterious...or authentic...or both.

Don't get sucked in...he isn't a vampire anymore than I am the Heavy Weight Champion of the World.

First off, I am going to ignore all of those horrible manglings of the English language, but since you seem to be so good at it, I would suggest changing your name to mangler instead of magneslee. Close enough, at any rate.

Secondly, I have absolutely NO desire to know you, or your family, and I honestly hope that you will leave this board and take your delusions with you, as they do not befit the board's creed, nor do they enlighten us in any way.

Thirdly, I should hardly think that if you're having such a long night of 'feeding' you'd become so bored as to spend hours hunting up some crackpot website, as you obviously think that we are.

Your own matter of factness is TRULY appalling as you seem to think that fiction is in truth, fact. But you're young yet, and there's time for you to see the error of your ways. Just not on this board.

And excuse moi - But we around here have NO masters. See, we believe in a thing called free will around here, and we are our own masters. Not that many of us are into self-flogging, either, though I will recommend it to those that cut, as they may get a greater joy out of it.

Since the rest of what you've written is sheer rubbish, I'll just end this here.

Hardly. I tend to agree with quite a lot of what you say, dear.
Barnabas
^_^ Well that makes me feel better...thanks. :D

Answers:
1. Sometimes depending on the different blood types.
2. It's poison to drink another vampires blood.
3. The new ones like me that were born from vampire parents can but people that are chosen to be blooded can't without covering there eyes some way.
4. idk, but we are faster than most and sometimes stronger.
5. No, of course not. Only myth i think never tried.
6. I prefer blondes, when i go to drink my eyes mist into blood red going outward from the pupil. I geuss if they worked at a blood bank there would be a lot of missing blood.

hello all , some may know me or my famli but most will not and i dont exspect you to, i found your web site in my long night's of bordom admist feeding and your lack of mater of factnes is apaling, your masters should flog you all, with that said i will anser in depth some of the more worthy questions here,

You and Soul are my heros. :D

Hi everyone, I need an answer to a question
What emotional effects does a vampire bite have on a human.

What do you mean by 'vampire' in this instance? Classical?

If a classical vampire were you bite you you probably wouldn't remember it.

That or you would be dead.
Barnabas
^_^ Yes, there is definitely a need for clarification. A human would react in a much different way being bit by another human than by an immortal.
Sigma
Yes please clarify Whitelighter, although to cover both bases is easy enough.

Classical; although it is all speculative one would assumer you'd be dead, turned, not able to remember the event, or at best it would seem like a dream; as if it didn't really happen. Anyways the emotional effect would be 0 to nil. Although some stories would have you believe that the bite of a vampire is a powerfully sensual experience, mostly via white wolfs V:TM.

HLV; This is much easier to field with no speculation what-so-ever. There is no emotional effect directly correlated with the giving of blood to an HLV. You can make it seem erotic, frightening, fun, sad, whatever way you want to spin it. There is no supernatural effect to an HLV bite (in fact I don't think they even bite, I think they cut and suckle).

One other thing, your new so I will let it slide for the most part but, 1) if you have a question that hasn't been asked before on this thread feel free to make a New Topic. If it easily falls within the realm of a current one then be our guest to continue in a current thread. 2) Please though, don't Re-post the same question again and again, if people know they will most likely give you an answer or say they have no idea but certain things take time.

With that said, it is a pleasure to have you here with us at Vampires.com and may you find what your looking for.
Barnabas
^_^ Thanks much for explaining the need for clarification Sigma

These are my views, using logic rather than first hand experience(heheh)

1: Reproduction? Not likely. Every legend states that the vampire is unDEAD, literally a walking corpse. Your not going to hear about vampires suffering from PMS.

2: Again, legend states that vampires are not truly alive, and since a heart must beat in order to circulate blood, the answer is no. And even if they had a functional circulatory system, they wouldnt need it, because they are dead.

3: the classical vampire can withstand sunlight. Hollywoods vampire cant.

I believe someone asked about diseases...And the fact that vampires are dead will also effect my answer.
Bacteria harm living tissue by producing toxins as a by-product of their activity, so unless its some kind of flesh-eating bacteria, I would say it could not effect this popular work of fiction.

Viruses are not even capable of self-propulsion, so if the vampire doesnt have a functional circulatory system, the virus has little chance of getting anywhere. But lets say that it does.....
Viruses attach to our cells and inject THEIR DNA into OUR cells. Our cells then begins to replicate the virus. Our cells rapidly and continually create copies of the virus, this puts strain on the cell, and eventually it is damaged or even destroyed.
So viruses harm us because they do not allow our cells to go about doing their normal tasks. So a vampire would need living cells for the virus to be able to harm the vampire....

As for transmitting diseases.... Lets throw the much-dreaded HIV/AIDS virus into the fray.....
Since our vampire does not have living cells, there is no way for the virus to attach and replicate. So a vampire could carry the disease, but only as infected bodily fluids taken from a living host (a.k.a blood). Thankfully, HIV/AIDS cannot survive very long outside of a hospitable environment, in which case 99% of the virus dies within 24 hours.
So yes, a vampire could transmit diseases, but only if the pathogen in the vampires previous meal was still alive.
I'm rather glad I took Biology as an elective....

I have a question of my own: What the hell does HLV stand for? I've gotten the impression that its an individual that believes its a vampire....
Rhuen
1. in legend two Vampires could have children and several others were considered alive the two biggest being the Moroii and the Incubus.

2. Vampires need blood in legend because blood was considered the life force, the people who thaught up the legends didn't know what a circulitory system was.

3. wrong, most vampire tyoe mythological figures are harmed by sunlight in one form or another. maybe not always killing them but the Vampyre was stunned by it and couldn't move while the sun shinned.
Akintunde
1: I'm unfamiliar with such legends...I was mainly going by the popular depiction of the vampire, rather than stories handed down the generations. While fireside tales are interesting, they are rarely consistent, and its often easier to look at vampires when certain things become accepted, rather than trying to create an image out of a dozen stories that do not agree with one another.

2: I was answering the last part of question two, which asked: "do vampires have circulatory systems?".

3: Again, this must be legend vs. fictional depiction. I was mainly referring to Brian Stokers novel when I said "classical". Dracula was not harmed by sunlight. However, I believe it said something about his powers being lessened. "Withstand" was the word, not "uneffected by".

[COLOR=red]Jessica11657@aol.com1. If a man-vampire and a woman-vampire procreate, what is the offspring? Is it a human baby? Is it a full-fledged vampire from birth?

no vampires dont reproduce that way. they create fledgings.

2. Do vampires themselves have blood? If so, what's to stop a vampire from drinking blood from another vampire? If not, do they have a circulatory system?

Vampires dont have blood. Thats is why they drink blood.

3. Can vampires go out in daylight and use sunglasses?

no

4. Should there be restrictions and regulations on vampires that participate in sporting events? Is it unfair to be able to change into a bat during a high jump, pole vault, or something of the like?

this is a stupid question. do u really think they care about the Olympics?!?!

5. Do vampires really turn into bats? While they are bats, if they mated with a real bat, what would the offspring be?

no they dont turn into bats. they can however become a shadow.

6. Do vampires prefer a certain blood type? Should they be allowed to work pro-bono at a blood bank?

Well it depends on the kind of vampire you are talking about. Vampires run most blood drives.

Thanks to all you donators. thumbsup.gif
