...fiction-type vampires like... Dracula... and stuff... they don't exist... so I doubt you'd be able to find them. But like eh, the people that think they're vampires, you know... anywhere.

As for as "real" vampires, look next door to your house for starters.

Well, that really only depends if you consider Anne Rice books a better source of information than old folklore... stories is all we have on classics, and usualy the older they are the more people tend to believe them to be more than fiction...

oooh you're mean. But that was good.
Couple of things. I believe in what you're describing also, Charisma. I believe classical vampires exist. However, I would strongly suggest you don't go looking for them. Why would you want to, anyway? What do you hope to achieve by doing so? To be perfectly honest it's quite likely you'd end up a little bit dead...or at least a bit damaged (and I don't neccesarily mean physically).
I don't know anymore than you do, and I doubt anyone here does (and anyone claiming to is probably an attention seeking newbie) but in my opinion theres no 'area' in which you are more or less likely to find the sort of vampire you are describing. If you were oh-so-desperate to find one, i'm sure you'd find your own ways and means to do so...but I really wouldn't suggest it. It is deceptively easy to become completely immersed in this sort of thing and to be honest it's really not healthy. But i'll shut up now. I'm being a bit too painfully honest. :P

My two cents: nowhere. If a classical existed, you would probably not be able to find him. As for HLV, wherever you want, although I don't see of what use they would be for you (they can't "turn you" in other words)

Thats why i'm curious to see why she actually wants to find a classical. I assume you're correct in your assumption that she wants to be 'made', but who knows?
Oh, and I agree wholeheartedly with your 'probably couldn't find one' statement. Especially if one didn't want to be found (and I imagine they wouldn't, too).

As long as the true immortal souls of the vampire ranks wish to remain nameless and faceless then they will. Think about it if you were hundereds even thousands of years old reaping the rewards, secrets, and lost wisdom of the darkness, consuming the power of flesh, haveing tantric orgy like sex, etc. Would you really come out and say hay every one look at me. Well maybe you would but a real vamp would probably want to preserve the pride, integrity, and dignity of his/ her people so you probably wont see a vampire on CNN or at your local Goth venue anytime soon.

Just to post something out of the norm...
I believe vampires COULD exist, but whether they DO is unknown.
And it's supposed to be unknown.
It's like believing in God, or even Santa Claus.
If you believe something enough, for you it becomes real, and reality is nothing more than how you percieve it.
If you dont believe in it, it wont exist.
NOTE: New Orleans probably doesnt have any living dead, but it does have some pretty weird people, and a pretty insane nightlife! ^_^
(A goth Creole girl who thinks she's a vampire beats searching your entire life for an immortal. No question.)

Exactly as you said. If you don't believe it, won't exist. Just wish I knew some facts on vampires. The drive in me to know burns me up inside sometimes. Are there people who research this? Its just so addictive to know if they do exist...Guess its the question I'll die with, not knowing.
Saturn9
Jan 7 2004, 02:11 AM
Yes, people do research it...in fact there's a thread listed right below this one on it.
Or just...
here.
I myself research the occult and myths of this sort.
Die without knowing? Is it really that bad?
People die not knowing god exists, or whether their wife ever really loved them, or whether or not the Vancouver Canucks will ever win the Stanley Cup.
You think Stoker and Rice knew vampires? Hell no.
What a vampire is to you is what you make it.
You can believe whatever myth you want.
Or, make your own.
It's your life.

Give me a break! ( Points at post and laugh's evilishly.)
You want to locate a Vampire. You make it seem so easy.
You can not just go on-line and say " Hey! Vampires where are you guys?!"
It is the dumbest thing I have ever read on here. Why is it so dumb?
Vampires have lived for so long.
That they have become the best at everything that ever decided to do.
So hiding out of sight is something they have done for years.
The only way to actually find a vampire is to wait until they feeds off blood.
When feeding they will go to an area where alot of humans are and blend in.
The only way to know if he is a Vampire is by his over cockyness.
They will be very proud of themself. So sure of there actions.
They will actully choose someone from the group.
How depends on the sex of the vampire.
If the Vampire is Female they will search for a young strong male.
Some one that can with stand many feedings and long periods of love making.
So she can come back again and again.
But a male Vampire sees himself as a gift to women.
He will choose a young , sexy, strong and sweet smelling women.
Someone who he may have sex with as well as feed off.
But then leave them. The only way to meet a vampire.
To know for sure. Is to be the person the vampire chooses.
But dressing in such a way to draw Vampires.
May draw humans of the other sex as well.
But eather way you might get some action.
But if you want to know if your Man/women is a Vampire.
Ask them " What kind of job do you do?" If they respond with
" I am the manager of JC pennys." You know they are not a vampire.
But if they say eather " I do things from time to time." OR " I collect rare wines."
It means they are not connected to the world and is infact a Vampire.

Ahhh 3 months of absence and the same ol flames by new flamers...*grin* gotta love it
Anyway good to see the are still a lot of good posters out there. Here is my view on the subject. Now I do not believe in "classicals" or in their myths to be true but let's for the sake of arguement say they are truely among us. I think the place to find them would be in high places. I mean what better place to hide then in the eye of the public. And I am not saying true moviestars that are in the eye all day long but I mean people like famous recluses or the "excentric bilionair on yonder hill" If vampires would truely exsist I do not believe they would be stupid enough to live in a castle in the dark forrests of somethingorothervania because come on this is the first place everybody looks for them.
but then again..that's just me..and I'm a different breed of cat.

well say you're a fifteenth century nobleman who's become a vampire... you have the money, so the best place to recide would be in a castle all alone...
of course that's not modern-day. I think that classicals would be working out of cheap apartments in not very busy areas... so they can travel back and forth without being observed going in or out of their house too much. Heck, a beaten down house near a city would work.
but key part: near a city.

I mean I can imagine if you indeed are a oh so pretty classical with all your money that you undoubtly have gathered through the years. Would you truly want to live in a beaten down house near a city? Ofcourse like said this is all theoretically.
Hmm but then again...if you survived all those years you have to be pretty smart and be able to get over your feelings for fear of being caught. Hmmm...confusing myself here...maybe..umm..I ramble...do please excuse me.

Personally, I think an apartment in a big city would do just fine. Or a hotel room - you know how some people rent suites indefinately? Seems perfect, to me. Surrounded by beautiful things, with people coming in and out to clean for you and not particularly caring if you have no food/water etc in your room - and no neighbours! (Or constantly changeing neighbours). Sound perfect?

We talk about classicals or other way impossible vampires not the normal HLV's (normal..I use the term loosely;) ) so the discussion is not wheter they exist or not but rather were they would exist if they were real. Truthfully I don't think you'd find an anciet vampire living in a small dodgy apartment near the city because I think they would have more pride than that. But more recently made vampires? Who knows, they could be next door. I'm guessing that where you would look would have a lot to do with what kind you were looking for. Whether you were looking for a vampire from a couple of thousand years ago or whether you were looking for one made last week? After all, it's not like they're all exactly the same.
