Shroudeater is an excellent resource for anyone interested in Vampire Mythology ('classical' vampires). I love the site because it is one of the few: with the prevalence of the Vampire subculture (and I'm not having a go at anybody here) generally speaking you type Vampire into a search engine and you come up with one of the millions of subculture sites, which leaves the scholars out in the cold a lot of the time. It's the kind of site you should always quote when someone comes along asking you to do their vampire research for them. Thanks for posting it.

Well, I wouldn't spend my last dime on these truths (in other words IMO it's zero credibility) but I found it amusing. I could belive *some* of these tales but the interpretation given to the facts is childish. Enjoy it though.

I did say 'Mythology' ;)

I've not yet read any Vampire tale I felt able to believe.

I think that's a question to ask the Trekkies first. And then the that Jedi group in Australia. I only feel obligated to answer after they answer. WE atleast are also dealing with history in a sense... and people's interpretations on the unknown.

I just looked over the site briefly... looks like it have good sources. (He does cite everything...)

But yeah, I don't believe in vampires either.

Fuck me, looks like I wasted two years on a pointless A' level, then!

Fiction and Mythology are different, but not mutually exclusive. We study them to gain insight into culture. The fiction of a certain era, say post-war, tells us a lot about how people thought at that time, what they believed and feared.

Then there's the concept of entertainment. Not everything we enjoy is true.

I can't believe I'm having to explain this

I think I've been nastier than usual on the boards today everybody, so please forgive me. It must be PMS. At any rate, when I look in the mirror I see my avatar.

Watching that warning level like a hawk.
Nemesis Chylde
Pooh...don't worry about that warning level. You're not mean to anybody.

About the site, though...I like it. Quite informative. I like the way they don't give out any conclusions, just the basics.
