During a rather lonely point this evening I got a chance to read a few threads I haven't done before...and I thought...if I missed such great stuff, there's a chance a lot of people did too...and so I thought about showcasing a member's thread every week by pinning it to the top.

I'm interested in knowing what everyone thinks of the idea.

Well Pier I for one think this is a GREAT IDEA!!!!! I say go for it.
It will be a great way for people to find the good stuff.

I think that's a great idea. I usually don't get to see all the poetry posts so this will help me see some of the others. And help some people find mine.

A most excellent idea. Would encourage even more new works just for the fact that ones might be showcased.

I think its a great idea aswell. I agree with Dax.

I agree. It does sound like a great idea. Although I can see some of our less... patient... authors may become upset when they are not the first ones up. I still think you should go for it, just be sure to mention often that it will take time to get to everyone. Then again, I'm sure you already thought of this.

Well it looks like a positive enough response....I'll make a random list and start pinning threads up beginning tomorrow. I will need to get feedback from the moderating team as well.

No criteria really. I just pick one thread out at random and pin it for a week.

That is the best possible way to go about something like this Pier.
That way there is no discrimination whatsoever. If it is all random choosings then the negative feedback should be kept to a minimum. Really there shouldn't be any negative feedback at all. I've read a lot of the writings in this particular part of the forum and have failed to find any "bad works" yet. Everyone has they're own "style" of writing, and I think its all "good". I hope your idea gets approved by the adminstrators so one by one we can all be "showcased" eventually.

Ok, I gotta say, I didn't see this up until Pier added the link to my Thread, but it is a good idea, I'm glad it was approved. And I have to say, another good thing about it, you see, I was having one of the worst days of my life when I find that I am the Thread of the Week thing, that made my day truly, so it is a positive thing indeed.

Such a smart boy.

A little clarification -

The purpose of having a Poetry Thread of the Week is to highlight authors whose work may have been overlooked, but are deserving to be noticed and appreciated.

Therefore threads which have a lot of responses, or threads where the authors are actively going onto other threads and advertsing their own work, will take a backseat. This is NOT in any way passing judgment on those threads...I'm merely making sure that the unnoticed ones get noticed.

I will also be merging older threads to make sure all the authors' works are highlighted. If that is a problem, please let me know and I will restore them.
